Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. I think it looks better than the RAV, but then I really don't like the way the RAV has grown so large, and would really have preferred it if Toyota had given us the European sized 5 door, instead of the US model. The drivetrain sounds interesting. The current one is no slouch, so with 200kw and a 6 speed box it should be quite rapid. Now we just need a decent suspension kit to get rid of the understeer and body roll.

I'll bet it doesn't. SR5s with the 15" standard wheels have speedos that overread by just on 8%. Putting a larger wheel/tyre on simply reduces this error. Using a 17" wheel, if you install 265/65*17s, then you'd take out about 70% of the error. If you use a 16" wheel, and install a 265/75 then the error is zero.

Yeah, they should they are DVD Headunits Be careful of this, as I think you'll find that most won't play MP3 DVDs only, MP3 CDs. That's certainly the case with the Eclipse, and I think it was also with most of the others I recently looked at.I've got two Eclipse AVNs. They are simply brilliant, and worth the $.

I had the job done for me, but I saw it about half way through the job, and it looked like they'd only removed the surround.

A fairly poor pic of the AVN installation in my 2005 RAV. And the just completed install into our 06 Hilux. The Hilux has the ipod interface and two reversing cameras. One mounted on the car, and the other is removable, and can be installed on the caravan. So we know how many people we're holding up.

We got our SR5 diesel a couple of months ago. Lucked in and our car was delivered with the engine and spec upgrade that happened around Sept 06 (a little more power, and some more 'bits and pieces'). I hadn't realised though, that a Hilux is more of a kit car than the usual factory offerings. As soon as we took delivery,we started changing things. Seats were the first..... Since then, we've had a second battery installed. Hella spotlights. It's going in today for installation of a combined navigation and sound system, as well as UHF CB. Long range fuel tank next week. Canopy in a couple of months. And then it will be off for a drive to northwest oz.

I think we're stuck with the 'I agree' rubbish. Blame lawyers for that I guess.In the factory systems, there is a speed sensor input to the unit, so that it knows when it is moving. I wonder what would happen if you disconnected it? Reversing camera is easy. The Eclipse unit (made by the Denso/Fujitsu 10) works perfectly.

13-15 litres / 100 kms is atrocious consumption. I guess you might get that in bumper to bumper traffic, or if you are very heavy with the throttle and brakes, but, it's really more what you could expect from a Ford Territory. I've got two 05 RAVs. A manual 5 door, and an automatic 3 door. The 3 door doesn't vary all that much, giving in the range of 9.5 to 10.5 litres/100. The 5 door is better, giving from 10 to around 8 lt/100km. Basically though, in mixed city driving, they are both similar at around 10, plus or minus a little bit.

All turbos are either imports or aftermarket jobs. All hardtops are also imports. I owned a '96 Bathurst. Great car, which I still regret selling (in 2004 with 72,000 kms on the odo). Compared to the GT...no power steering, no leather, different sound system, no cruise control, no fog lights in the airdam. A bit lighter. ABS and air were options, not standard. The Bathurst was basically a cheapie model (mine still cost over $50k), and the price of the GT just went through the roof. The power steering was a real loss with the original fit Yokohama tyres. The steering load with them was horrid. Later I replaced them with slightly larger 205 Dunlop W10s, and the load reduced by about half! From that point onwards, it was fine. I ditched the sounds system almost immediately, though the original fit was quite decent. My seats were stored for the whole time I had the car, and I used way superior Recaros. Cruise control is no loss in this car. The wiring for the fog lights is intact, so you just need to get a set (mine came from a wrecker), and a switch for the dash, and a relay. Absolutely wonderful cars, but decent ones seem to be rare these days.
