  5. Change the gear box what for? if it ain't broken don't touch it

    Exactly!

There's no point changing the gearbox. I got my clutch changed to a Heavy Duty Exedy Clutch in January this year & it's so much easier! In regards to crunching, that was because of my stock clutch not disengaging which resulted in crunching!

I've got advice from my mechanic to get a reco done on syncro's if it's still crunching after getting the clutch changed. A couple boys I know on the Facebook Corolla Sportivo group have had their reco's done on the & they're saying it's completely worth it!

  6. Sorry, I meant the gearbox oil had not been changed since the sportivo was brand new!

I haven't been on the forums lately because I've been so busy with work. Finally got a chance to jump on.

About 2 weeks, I bought a HD Exedy clutch from Turbo Spares in Cabramatta NSW. My mechanic installed it & I haven't had a problem with shifting when in lift! While he was there, he machined the flywheel as well.

I've had the gearbox oil changed when the minor service was done at about 90,000k

  7. Hey everyone, I had my clutch changed to an exedy clutch yesterday.

In order for the mechanic to take out the gearbox to get to the clutch, he had to take out everything in between which meant disconnecting the ABS sensors & taking out the shafts.

After replacing the clutch, he reconnected everything & it's working fine, although, the ABS Light in my cluster is on.

He disconnected the sensor, cleaned it with the air compressor hose on the brakes & the wire. Also, he used a cleaning spray on the sensor. Reconnected it but the light is still coming on.

The ABS is working fine though, he tested it out & it's working well but it's annoying seeing the ABS light on in the cluster!

We've disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes & reconnected it so the computer can reset but still it's staying on in the cluster!

Can anyone recommended how to fix this?

    - The sensor connection has been cleaned.

    - Computer has been reset.

    - ABS works well.

Maybe a bypass or something like that?

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Thanks boys! :)

  8. In my case, it's the clutch.

The mechanic has suggested to go for a new clutch so let's how that goes.

If your clutch is good then I'd suggest to get the clutch cable adjusted &/or the clutch pedal!

Also, I changed my gearbox oil because shifting between gears was really rough. Ended up that because the previous was getting it serviced by Terry Shields, the gearbox wasn't changed since brand new!!

  9. Thanks for the fast reply guys! I've tried what 123 Prozac said and it didn't jam up.

I'll try changing the gear box oil first since its a cheaper option and then change the clutch if its still wrong. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it!

Hope it turns out well for you mate. My clutch still doesn't disengage sometimes & I have to press it twice or 3 times.. Really tempted to just go for a HD Exedy clutch.

  10. I had this problem with my '05 sportivo too. I'd go over 6000rpms hitting lift in 1st or 2nd & it wouldn't shift!

With mine, it was the gearbox oil. I had the gearbox oil drained, had new penrite gearbox oil put in & also added Nulon G70 & it stopped. The clutch was fine in mine but I'm not sure about your's mate.

gear oil has nothing to do with the pedal.. its a clutch or pedal problem, or hydraulic problem...

can you press the pedal while in neutral and just keep pumping till it gets stuck half way then look at the fork on your gearbox (look before u do this so u know when the fork is pressed and depressed) if your fork has returned all the way but your pedal hasnt maybe its the pedal itself. usually the spring in the pedal will lift it back up..

I actually did a post a thread about this previously bud. It was about how my sportivo wouldn't go into 1st & reverse.. I have to press the clutch twice, sometimes even 3 times, then it'll go in. The car has done 90,000kms now.

My mechanic had a look at it when I got the minor service done last week & he said the same thing as you. He said it's a clutch problem. He can adjust the pedal but it won't do a big difference he said. He's suggested to go for a new standard clutch & it'll fix the problem.

Hey guys, just recently bought an 05 sportivo. I don't know if its my driving but when I take off on first and reach over 6k revs, the clutch gets stuck about half way after I changed to second. And also the gear gets jammed a bit too between first to second.

Get it checked out by a mechanic, maybe it's your clutch pedal!

  11. I had this problem with my '05 sportivo too. I'd go over 6000rpms hitting lift in 1st or 2nd & it wouldn't shift!

  12. Turns out I did have the filler kit after all. At the same time I bought the unit I also bought a spacer coin tray to suit & promptly threw out the two loose plastic pieces that came with it, didn't have a clue what they were for (bloody idiot). The penny dropped when I saw it on the Super Cheap site today & realised their purpose. Guess I'll have to buy another one :( In reply to ParvezK, Liverpool NSW is a bloody long way from Far North Queensland, but nobody on here would have realised that.

Damn, sorry about that bud. I just realised now that you're in QLD! Woops haha

  13. For the past week, before I go into 1st, I put it into 2nd then 1st.. It actually goes in much smoother!

Same deal with Reverse.. It's annoying but at least it doesn't ruin the box right..?

I was talking a couple mechanics & they were saying that if I get the box reconditioned along with a new clutch installed once my stocker clutch goes then it'll stop playing up.. Only thing is that my stocker clutch is good!

  14. Could be your cables.. Or shifter?.. Stretched or something

    reverse doesn't have a syncro..

So when u say it's hard to get into reverse.. Does it make it easier if the motor is off ??..

Who knows maybe It is ur clutch, not disengaging properly..

Just thinking ur reverse gear has a separate fork from first...

When the motor's off, it goes in nice & smoothly without any effort! I think it's the clutch not engaging properly when I first start it..

    Cables aye..? :/

Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Sydney region that can readjust the push rod? It'll be really helpful!

My mechanic keeps lagging it & telling me he'll do it but doesn't want to book me in! >.<

  15. Might be ur clutch from 1st to 2nd.. But here's another question.. Where's your fictions point and how many k's u got ?

Try 3rd gear then reverse.. How's it then?...

The friction is pretty high on the pedal bud :/

There's only a little bit left to let go of the pedal when the clutch engages.. I was pretty astounded by this when I first bought the car about 2 months ago but the clutch is fine. It doesn't slip or anything & it's pretty grabby. Just engaging it into 1st & reverse is very rough like I described.

There's about a little over 88000kms on the clock. It came with log books & the previous owner used to take it Terry Shields Toyota to get it serviced. He gave me a full folder with all major & minor service receipts!

I've tried going from first to reverse & it's a just a tad smoother. No big difference than before though. I'll give 3rd then into reverse a go when I leave work today.
