  1. I've had the ABS kick in when traffic stopped suddenly in the wet, and it did its job perfectly.. but I suddenly became very worried about the person behind me :) Thankfully he was driving more attentively than me. I would be very surprised if many people can stop faster with regular brakes than with ABS+EBD. With old ABS systems they only kicked in at the limit of the worst wheel, so it was easy to do better by braking just under lock. EBD means that it's braking at the limit on all wheels independantly, so it will almost always be better than regular brakes. Not saying it can't be done, it very much depends on the situation etc. Cheers, - Matthew (edit: spelling.. duh)

Dude, Much as I hate to bag anyone on a forum, you're not exactly starting on the right foot. You may know everything, but apparently you have just redefined "everything" such that it doesn't include a basic grasp of English. Both of your posts are painful to read. Try some punctuation other than "..." and some more capital letters perhaps. Corret grammar is free, please help yourself to some. Maybe talk about cars too, instead of trying the lamest attempt I've ever seen at picking up. Cheers, - Matthew
  3. I'm very glad to hear this, I was worried about this issue so much that I took mine out for a drive the other day and kept changing at 8300 to make sure mine was ok. Really officer, I was just testing the gear change. Honest! - Matthew
  4. The buzzing noise is probably the fuel pump building up pressure in the rails, it should stop after a few seconds. If it doesn't stop then that implies something starter-related is buzzing, which isn't so good. If there's no click from the relay trying to engage the starter, or the gear throwing into the flywheel.. then probably a sensor/ecu problem.. that's real bad .. but you didn't need me to tell you that. - Matthew
  5. I walked past a dude in a black one on lane cove road (syd) yesterday on my way home, did a double take coz it looked exactly like my car, cept not as clean :)
  6. Hard to explain precisely, but I was experiencing a dull rattling noise as I went over small bumps in the road which sounded like it was coming from the driver's side wheel well. Also, hitting a speed bump (a small one in a carpark, not the huge ones on roads) at more than a very slow speed would cause a distinct BAM from the front as if the wheel was slamming back down on the road. I also noticed this morning that the car leans worse into that side. I took a left-hand corner at a mild speed and punched out of it, and the inner tyre gave a big squeal. I mustn't have been hitting it around corners much for the last couple of months. Cheers, - Matthew
  7. Hi all, A lot of people are having trouble with gear shifting, I'm not one of them (yet?), but a few people have also mentioned getting their struts replaced. Mine was making bad noises if I hit speed bumps at >3km/h so I asked the dealer to take a look. Sure enough, the front right is shot and needs replacing. What worries me is that it's not exactly a new thing (been happening for a few months), I only just got around to getting the dealer to look at it. Hope nothing else has been damaged by the busted strut. Is this also a common issue which hasn't been noticed so much amongst the gear shifting problems? Cheers, - Matthew
  8. Tee hee.. I went through 6-8k in a tunnel the other day with the window down.. scared myself a bit. Damn it just sounds so good every time. - Matthew ps: mine ticks quite loudly from outside as the aircon goes on and off and the electric fans go on and off.. all normal stuff..
  9. Interesting comments.. I found the driving position weird at first, but I've gotten comfortable with it. I dunno if the seats are really slippery, but maybe my **** is just fat enough that I don't move :) - Matthew
  10. Hmm.. still waiting here.. I called Toyoya Aus about a month ago to let them know I'd moved, I hope they've sent it to the right address... - Matthew
  11. Man, that totally sucks. As they say: Lance: Still got your Malibu? Vincent Vega: Aw, man. You know what some ******* did the other day? Lance: What? Vincent Vega: **** keyed it. Lance: Oh, man, that's ****** up. Vincent Vega: Tell me about it. I had it in storage for three years, it was out for five days and some dickless piece of **** ****** with it. Lance: They should be **** killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution. Vincent Vega: Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that ***** doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it. Lance: What a *******! Vincent Vega: What's more chicken**** than **** with a man's automobile? I mean, don't **** with another man's vehicle. Lance: You don't do it. Vincent Vega: It's just against the rules. (man, will that ever set off the swear filter)
  12. For those interested, I've just received an email from my dealer mentioning that the notices should be being sent out on the 23rd, She also said that I will need to take in all 3 keys (2remote + 1passive). I assume the new ECU needs to be programmed to work with your keys. So, time to go through all the junk in my room and try to remember where I put the spare keys :) - Matthew
  13. No point clutching if there is no pressure on the undone fly... But how do you get pressure on an undone fly.. aren't our cars designed to generate pressure on the done-up fly? Smutty double-entendre aside, I've noticed my clutch losing it a bit after about 17000km. I've never driven a car in traffic as crap as Sydney though, so maybe it's just normal and I'm expecting more than I should. I'll mention it on the 20k service anyway. I think the gear cable's just started rattling too.. *sigh*. - Matthew
  14. Australian, mostly .. aussie parents, lived all my life in aus, born in NZ. (don't mention the rugby) - Matthew
  15. Can't help you on 1, mention it to the service place and wait for the fix like everyone else I spose. As for the others, 2 and 4 just sound like wheel balance and alignment to me. If it's seriously out this can also cause noise, which would conveniently explain 3 too :) - Matthew
