  1. I seen the new Kluger in front of Clintons Toyota Campbelltown, so its definetely arrived.
  2. Put your model KXR, KXS, Grande + 2WD or AWD + whatever spec in your profile so it shows up next to your name in posts. It can be a big help to others.
  3. How the hell do you get 9.5 in city?? The best I could get in city is 13.5!!! Highway & City 12 and Highway alone around 8-9. I do have one complaint about the car.. Its crappy gearbox, I get a slight hesitation in gears when turning in low speed, it just doesn't know which gear to hold or shift, it hesitates and then changes gears. I know this is not a common problem but theres been at least one other person on forum with this problem. I told service guy at 1,000km service and he reckons nothing wrong but it happened again as soon as I pulled out of dealership. Next service I will not take car home until this crappy problem is fixed. My suspicion is this is also adding to higher fuel consumption.
  4. Thanks to another member on this forum (tpl) who directed me to some valuable information which pretty much sums up the upgrade from 17" to 19" 103S is a legal modification. The link below is a guide on modifications with the department of infrustructure and transport (Federal Department not State): Go to page 19 --> under 4.1--> point 1. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/pdf/NCOP11_Section_LS_Tyres_Suspension_Steering_V2_1Jan_2011%20v3.pdf It clearly states, A motor vehicle under 4.5 tonnes GVM which is required to comply with ADR 24 may be equipped with tyres other than those listed on the tyre placard provided that: - the load rating of the tyres is not less than the lowest load rating listed on the tyre placard of the vehicle or equivalent variant of that model vehicle Again this is a federal department so this is applicable to ALL states. So out of my research the engineer was correct in saying any factory upgrade or option is legal.

Hey mate, I have just purchased a KXR and the sound increases and decreases automatically as well.. I thought it had to do with sound balancing due to outside noise. Not sure if it is normal operation or fault.
  6. Dropped the car at service today and told them about the hesitation problem.. When I picked it up they said the problem did not occur with them, but they did howerver reset the computer and I should see how that goes. First corner out of the dealership and there she goes again, slight hesitation and problem still there exactly as I dropped it off. This is not normal behaviour of a brand new vehicle, and the problem is getting worse and occuring more often. Anyone on here from a Toyota dealership that can help out with this problem, is there a solution???
  7. Funny that you say that about the ford, I was going to say my other car a ford falcon ba with 300,000km shifts a lot better. Everyone that has jumped in my kluger even non mechanical minded people like my wife has asked why the car is doing that when changing gears.. Car is goiing in for it's first service this Wednesday and it will definetely be something I bring up.
  8. Hi guys, I'm still in the break in stage of my new kluger and have just hit 800kms.. Since owning the vehicle I have found the car hesitates when changing gears in a low rev range. This 'hesitation' occurs in low gears, say from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd gear. It just feels like a flat spot and the car does not smoothly engage in the next gear, it feels like a flat spot in the revs before it changes gear. I find this happens a lot when turning/exiting out of a roundabout in a lower gear.. It is really getting on my nerves as I think a new car shouldn't be doing this. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal? or a defect? Your help in this matter will be much appreciated. thanks
  9. Ok so this is where I'm at with my research. The upgrade from 17inch to 19inch is not the problem as the rolling diametre is identical. The problem lies in the load rating, KXR wheel placard states no less than 107, while the Alttitude, KXS and Grande states load raing to be no less than 103. Toyota: Called Toyota and their only response is 'we dont recommend modifications to the vehicle and you should keep it to factory spec'. This is what pisses me off, they are happy to charge $2,500 as a factory upgrade at the time of purchase and also change the factory wheel placard to 19inch wheels, but to source the wheels yourself for for less than half that price they aren't willing to give you their approval, nice. Insurer: You are allowed to upgrade wheels as long as it complies with the law. This is my major concern as the load rating on the KXR placard is 107 and the Alttitude, KXS & Grande have load ratings of 103. Local Car Engineer: Any factory option is legal. Doesn't matter what is stated on placard its only a sticker. RTA: Spoke to a technical officer at the NSW Roads & Maritime and he could not understand why there is a difference between the KXR and other models. He also acknowledges they are identical vehicles. He done some research on the compliance of the vehicle and tells me the KXR is complied with tyre rating of no less than 107. But he did say one last comment which made me think, he said check the specs in the hand book and what ever the factory recommends should be legal. So I opened the hand book and in the wheel specifications it mentions both wheel sizes. 245/65/17 107S & 245/55/19 103S, but no where does it say for which particular model the size applies too? So would you take the handbook specs to mean you can use either of the two sizes dosent matter which model it is for? Pretty confusing stuff and also very critical in ensuring you are covered for insurance purposes. Any thoughts??
  10. I know this has been talked about before but I couldn't find specific answers. Is it legal under NSW laws to put the standard 19inch Grande wheels on a KXR?? The model is for MY2012 FWD KXR. I read in a previous post that it is illegal in VIC due to the weight specs but this was for a 2008 model kluger.
  11. Grab the cash refund, there's awsome deals going around at the moment on new cars, you might only have to pay a bit more and you'll be driving around in a 2012 Kluger!!!
  12. Ended up doing the deal drive away with carpet mats only, no towbar $37,588 KXR 2wd 7 Seater. 10/2012. Shame the local dealer couldn't match the price, he wanted $40,500.
  13. Mate all I can say is, Department of Fair Trading. I reckon you will have no problems in receiving a full refund. Or returning it for a swap for an AWD. The dealer has to honour the contract. You were sold something different and you have the evidence in the contract to prove it. This may sound silly, but have you checked the contract and made sure the chasis number match up to your vehicle. This sounds like a major stuff up by the dealer and maybe they gave you the wrong car on delivery?? Before contacting Dept of Fair Trading i would firstly contact the dealer and tell them of their stuff up. See what their reaction is, I reckon they will admit responsibillity pretty quickly considering its written on the contract. I bet they will offer your some cash back at first because its difficult to take the car back rego transfer etc, but I reckon you are well in your rights to request a full refund. Good luck with it and keep us posted on the progress.
  14. G'day guys first time poster and wanted to get your opinions on price and the 'right' time to buy for a new kluger.. Currently looking at brand new KX-R 2wd 7 seater Pearl White with floor mats and tow bar drive away for $38,500, i know its a good price because another 3 dealers told me they are $40k and over and would not even negotiate.. Now i need your opinions on weather I should seal the deal tomorrow or should I wait until the new year.. Only problem is the dealer can't gurantee me the price in the new year as toyota revise their deals monthly and there could be a possibility the January prices and dealer rebates may change.. What would you do considering its a 2012 plate car, would you wait until the new year and see if there are better 2012 runout deals in the new year??? Cheers rumz.
