  1. Has Toyota mentioned anything about helping you out seeing you followed their service schedule? Or are they going to hide behind the warranty card?
  2. Hi guys, A late reply I know, but I have done some research for myself and a manual lock up torque converter is the go. I am considering one at the moment and the only consideration is a bigger transmission cooler as the transmission will be working harder not the donk (hence the transmission wants to stay in 5th not 6th as the box is working harder and heating up more). I'll post here again once I get the mod done.
  3. Nissan bashing aside, my mate has the Y62 Ti and has attempted to take it off road. Whilst it performed O.K it really seems better suited to be a blacktop Toorak tractor rather than a track basher. As a result, he want out an brought a kitted up GQ as his "real" 4x4. Also the Y62 is really hard to get aftermarket gear for and as far as I have been told the suspension system is hard to upgrade. I'm surprised with the comment regarding the Prado diesel as in my experience with them, that little donk is a great performer. We used diesel Prado's and Hilux's in my old job and in stock form they were great on and off road, loaded and unloaded.
  4. I've just clocked over 50,000km of town and reasonably tough touring in 12 mths and I have not had an issue (except 1 split CV boot). However I have only had the first service at Toyota (1,000km service) and the rest with my local 4x4 mechanic (Pro 4x4 Queenstown Adelaide) is that maybe a consideration? Is Toyota giving the best service or did I just get a good one? Having said that we use the GX models at work and they cop a hiding every day and they are in quite reasonable nick still and they are serviced at Toyota every service interval. Overall I think sometimes we all get a "Monday" car off the production line. Good luck!
  5. Hey Hollywood, I did the whole take it easy for the first 1000kms then flogged it for the next 1000km. I've just clicked over 40,000km with no problems at all. I drive it all day everyday in the city for work and have done about 6 remote trips with trailer and still no problems. I think the oil usage issue only really arises when towing heavy loads. I too was apprehensive after reading about the oil usage issue, hence this thread, but after 18mths and 40,000kms I don't regret my purchase 1 bit. I hope this helps put you at ease a bit!
  6. Update: I have just clicked over 20,00kms and no engine issues thus far. I have completed 2 off road trips now towing a small trailer and she hasn't skipped a beat. I did have to replace a fuel filter after the last trip as I refuel a lot out of jerry cans but the guys at Toyota were more than happy to show me how to replace one if I am out in the scrub and the need arises. However I am installing an inline 30 micron fuel filter just in case! So far so good!
  7. Cheers David, I know how much it killed me just waiting to sign the beast up let alone pick it up! Especially when you start seeing the bloody things everywhere driving around the place so I know the feeling of the envy. However I must admit I do really love my "KLUGGER" still! Hang in there mate, the right one will come along soon I'll bet!
  8. Thanks guys for the advice. I'll keep an eye on the consumption and post how I go in a few months. Now I've done 1000kms and had the service inspection it is fun surprising petrol cars just how quick off the mark the big Cruiser really is! Cheers!
  9. As per my profile picture, I finaly have my LC200!!!. just have to wait for the Bull bar and snorkel which should take a few weeks.!!
  10. Thanks Rod, As I picked up the beast yesterday, I will give your suggestion a go as it sounds like a good plan. Cheers, Scotty!
  11. Hi all, This Thursday I finaly get to pick up my brand new GXL Landcruiser 200. Now I maybe over cautious but is there any recomendations about running these in? I will of course ask the dealer on pick up what their recomendations are but I was hoping for some prior knowledge before pick up as most dealers these day say that running in is not needed. I beg to differ though. Thoughts?
  12. And it's a shame it doesn't get supported more!
  13. I love this sort of conversation! This is precicely why touring car in this country needs to be "Production" car based. I miss seeing hot 4's dancing through the turns on the mount but seeing the V8's and big 6's make up for it on the straights. Now it's a common base with a near common body with a different badge. How's that exciting? I guess I just don't get NASCAR then hey?
  14. Took the Kluger for a run this arvo and can't say I noticed the flat spot down low. In fact it's quite smooth right the way through the rev range in all gears.
  15. Hey Croco, thanks for the welcome. Yep the 200 is an awesome bit of kit and a kinda dream come true. I've always wanted a Landcruiser and now I have the chance I chose the V8 diesel. I am planning on getting a chip and exhaust from Roo systems for a sweet exhaust note to go along with a TJM steel bar, snorkel and a decent tow pack all installed by the dealer as they have a TJM store across the road. The petrol would be a treat but I like the torque from the twin turbo diesel. I'll be sure to post some photos when I get the beast. Problem is I am taking the family to Europe in mid march whch may mean if I can't recieve it in time, my old man will end up picking it in my absence......which I think he's hoping on!
  16. Hi all, I haven't noticed anything of the such in my Kluger but I will take it for a spin and see if I notice anything now that I am aware of this fault and let you all know.
  17. G'day all, I have a 2007 Kluger KX-R and a 2013 GXL Landcruiser 200 awaiting pick up sometime before March 30! The only other Toyota I have owned was a RN 110 Hilux with was my pride and joy. My parents have had 2 Camrys since new (1x 1993 Vienta and 1x 2003 Camry Sportivo) and have never had an issue with both. As I have had no issues with any of my Toyotas and love them all to bits, here I am to hopefully get some good info on my prides and joys and to contribute where I can. Cheers!
