  1. Thread resurrection :P

Is there anyone down in Melbourne still interested in a group buy for Mobil 1 5w-30 EP oil?

Why go to the trouble in organizing a GB when you can get it in Melbourne? I usually get my Mobil 5w30EP from Harold at performancelub.com , self collect and save the postage. Any enquiry pls email sales@performancelub.com , i'm sure Harold will be more then happy in answering your question.

Hmmm Mobil 1 EP 5w-30 is the same price as Royal Purple 5w-30. Which one should i go with?

Go for Royal Purple, i tried RP 5w30 in my Ford Territory and it's fantastic, very smooth and felt having slightly better throttle response.

I think 5w20 is fine if you are not towing or drive your Toyota really hard, everyone in America is running 5w20 with no issue at all. 5w20 will give you the maximum FC gain though.

  3. Hey all

I've got a 1993 Toyota Camry Vienta and currently it's on LPG as Im still waiting to get some parts to fix up my fuel pump etc.

Do i still need to clean the injectors even though its running on gas?? not sure how it works with fuel injectors...

Easy, just pour a bottle of high PEA% base injector cleaner into your petrol tank and runs it once in a while to clean your injector, your injector will run bad if you don't run petrol often.

  4. Hi

I have a 2005 Camry altise ltd done 85,000km 2.4l. In the last week, I have been having trouble starting the car after it has been running a while. It seems to be harder the longer I have just driven. Takes about 3-5secs to ignite which doesn't seem long but before this it would start first thing all the time. Once ignited the car appears to be running smoothly and no engine warning lights are coming on.

Cold start is fine, it starts straight away.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

    Regards

    Magpies1

Go to your mechanic and check your battery, it could be a weak battery.

  5. Does anyone have any experience with Valvoline Engine Armour 10W-30 or Nulon 10W-30 Hi-Tech Fast Flowing oil?

Would Mobil 1 5W-50 be too thick for the Aurion?

Valvoline engine armour and Nulon are most likely group I and II base engine oil, would be very average but i would go 1 step up and use Royal Purple or Amsoil 5w30 which is group IV base instead.

Mobil 5w50 would be definably too thick, that is 2 viscosity thicker than what is recommended.

  6. Guys,

Some inside info from somebody in the industry.

All passenger vehicle synthetic motor oil from 10W/40 up is PAO synthetic. Anything below is Group III base oil.

Don't be fooled by different brands as the raw material in these oils are purchased from only a few suppliers in Australia and therefore offer the same level of performance.

Price and consumer preference is what it's all about and how well they market their product.

I'm fortunate not to have to purchase my motor oil, but if I had to I'd purchase any of the products mentioned here.

    Regards, Toddy ;)

    Toddy,

you might want to read up more about motor oil from BITOG, not all Syn 10w40 are PAO base.

  7. if ur not sure u can buy genuine motor oil as thats the stuff they use to do all the testing on the engines id say thats the best for your engine otherwise just use any 10w30 semi synthetic oil and change it at regular intervals (more often the service book would suggest eg every 5000km) you want have any problems if you do that another good thing to do is pic 1 type of oil n stick to it dont go swapin an changing every time a new fad in oils come out

Don't go semi-syn, there's no industrial standard on how much % Syn(group IV base) before they name it synthetics, it could be just 5% or 20%. Just choose a good branded fully synthetic and it will do. Oh, some lub company's also name their group III oil as fully synthetic but we "pure-ish" only consider group IV(PAO) and above to be the one.

  8. Hello All,

Im a bit confused when reading the manual that came with the Aurion. It specifies a few grades of oil.

Anyone can share what grade of oil i.e 20w etc and what brand?

    Ezat

The Aurion 2GR-FE engine would do just fine with any 30wt oil. I would personally use a good 20wt oil like the ester base Redline 5w20 for better Fc and protection or the 5w30 if towing.
