  1. Hi UIK I installed Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS, got it on ebay from US. Under 500$ delivered. The idea behind this was, the unit was meant to be able to mirror the phone, and it does, but only pioneer approved apps. There is a way around it, but it gets complicated. I would highly recommend a unit with MIRROR LINK technology, true mirroring of the smart phone. Very useful. Another thing that really ****** me off.... the USA retards don't let you use video features of your head unit unless car is completely stationary, ie, you must engage park brake. Which is usually remedied by grounding the park brake wire, if that doesn't work you have to install a simple relay, so park brake gets grounded only after the car starts. But to my surprise that did not work work either. So after reading lots of forums i figured that they went step further. So what they want you to do is to stop, put the car in park, engage park break, then release it and then engage it again... WTF????? Only an american sicko can come up with something like this. Thankfully I found this Russian dude that sells double pulse relays on ebay for 20$, it works perfectly. Installing any brand name unit will be essay, you just buy a connector harness from auto barn, tell the brand of the unit and brand of the car, it is almost plug and play (you have to connect few wires yourself, but easy to figure out) You also have to buy fascia, plastic cover around the unit. Ebay, 50 $. You can get steering wheel control adapter, but I think it is a waste of money. If you don't get (don't, you don't need it) you have to ground Pink wire from the diagram above- Steering control ground on the connector 3 And i just couldn't figure out how to make the reverse camera work, i tried several things, nothing worked. But you can get the aftermarket camera that fits into the same spot as the factory one, and it is so easy to connect, and works perfectly. The pioneer that I got works excellent as a stereo, it has two AUX inputs, two USB inputs, HDMI, AVI and so on, I can hook all of my gizmos to it. It also takes SD card, I use that as opposed to cd's, much easier. Sound is excellent, it has inbuilt amp, and I have type R Alpine 6'9 all around. If I choose too, half of the Brisbane knows when I am approaching. But if you get something with MIRROR LINK, you don't need the GPS unit, you just get the navigation of your phone. Good Luck!
  2. Well, I was born with rather heavy foot I got trough the set of Michelins in less than three months, but I do not consider myself a hoon. I don't remember doing a single burnout in years, but I can hear the tires in every corner. And to make matters worse, I am not a teenager any more.....
  3. Hi guys I recently got the strut and rear sway bar, from ultra racing, and ever since I find myself driving like I don't really need my drivers licence. Pretty much every time I get out of the car, all I can smell is my tires. Starting to think it wasn't the best idea getting those.... Anyone else had the same problem?
  4. Hi Drew No I didn't list mine on the gumtree. They are still on the car. So the trade would really only work if there is someone in Brisbane that is interested, so we can meet and swap them on the spot.
  5. Hi Guys I am not sure if I am breaking the rules of the forum, if I am, I apologize in advance. I bought a new car (not brand new, just new for me) 2011 ZR6, that came with chrome tail lights. And I really like the red tail lights from pre-face lift models (my previous car). So if there are any Brisbane members who would prefer the chrome tail lights, I would be very much interested in the trade. Cheers Milo
  6. Hi Drew Last time i was replacing my front pads, I went for Bendix Heavy duty (about 140 for the front set). I wasn't very happy. Brown redish dust, which looks bad, noisy, and felt very crude. I bought a new car, well.... same car, ZR6 just younger, that has stock pads, and they are much better.
  7. If you could let me know, that would be excellent! Thanks Mate!
  8. Hi guys Did anyone buy anything from Ultra Racing Australia recently? I tried contacting them few times over the last few weeks, but no replies. I want to buy strut bar and rear sway bar for my new Zr6. Web site seems to be active, but I don't want to pay for it, and then realise that company shut down. Thanks!
  9. Hmmmm..... I guess it is a good thing I didn't just go and guy Dunlops. I think I might actually stick to Pirelli's, although, the were was a Continental tyre that looked really good last time I was in a tyre shop. Can't remember the model, but the thread was made of two different materials, about a third of it (outside portion) was smooth and different colour, maybe even red if I remember correctly. Guy in Bob Jane couldn't praise those high enough. Any experiences with Continentals?
  10. 35k only? That doesn't sound like much. I guess your right foot is also feather light
  11. I average 1000 kms every week, so I need really good tires. Currently I have stock 17" Zr6 wheels, and Pirelli P1 Cinturato tyres (215/55) 38-40 psi. As the standard size goes, I am happy with Pirellis, but I was born with extremely light right foot ;-) and as a result, tires on my car generally don't last long, I have just over 50000 kms on the Pirelies, and in all honesty, they will not last much longer. I was thinking 19" wheels, with 245/35ZR Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires (heard nothing but good things about these tires), basically the same set up that TRD has. What I gathered from scouring the forum is, most other high end tires in this size/profile are either very noisy, or compromise ride comfort. I don mind spending little more to get performance and comfort. And the best part is, anything I buy is 100% tax deductible :-))))
  12. Hi Guys I am looking into getting a set of Gunmetal Grey 19" TRD wheels for my ZR6. Anyone tried fitting them? I had a quote from Toyota for 620$ a rim, and just over 400$ each for tires, which is not exactly cheap, but..... I really like the look of the wheels. I saw them on a red ZR6 few days ago, and I couldn't really decide which looked better, the car, or woman driving it. Have to love women in Aurions ;-)
