  1. Thanks Trevor. Only just came back from trip and noticed your comment. I ended up buying the Onboard Audio/Sat Nav. and am reasonably happy with it. Only thing I can't find on it yet (and there are many features I have yet to explore) is the Road Speed Display that Sam mentioned in his reply. I have the Fixed Radar, Red Light Speed Radar and all other warnings set and they work fine. Also have the Speed Limit warning set which works well but can't find a setting to show the Road Speed as you drive. Would be handy to know. Do you have it set on yours?
  2. I am thinking of replacing my Centre Dash Audio Unit (2013 Kluger KX-S) with the Audio Visual Unit with Satellite Navigation shown in Toyota's Kluger Accessories. Unfortunately they don’t really give much information about the Sat. Nav. features of the unit other than basic stuff. Does anyone who may have installed the Sat. Nav. Audio Unit (or have it as part of their standard equipment ie Altitude owners) know if it has features such as Road Speed display, Speed Limit, Red Light and other Radar Speed warnings, Distance yet to travel, Estimated Arrival Time etc? Also, is it a good Unit .. reliable etc?
  3. Thanks for your advice Steven. Appreciate your candour. Always good to share a view don't you think. Interesting what you mention about tyres and wear and their impact on speed error margin etc. All relevant.
  4. Sorry Trent. I do apologize. Don’t have the benefit of your years of experience on this forum so .. yes, I can understand your reaction to my apparent pin pricking and, as you put it, petty, comment. I had just come off the road all fired up. Should have known better. Wasn’t aware though that it should be expected and is normal for speedos in new cars to be commonly and deliberately set at a lower speed. Not that having owned four Toyotas from new, including a Kluger, over the past 15 years would make me any sort of an expert (not one of them had speedo error to the same extent as the one I have just purchased) nor the fact that my neighbour’s new Toyota does not have such a speedo error at all. My older Kluger from new always matched the Garmin speed even after tyre wear. Digging up old thread?? A nice little finisher. Good one mate. Tell me, how on earth does one new to the arena know it is (apparently) bad form to continue a topical subject when the search engine actually takes you to the thread in question. I really didn't recognise that the subject had closed. So to all who are irritated and annoyed. Sorry. Good that you are there to help us newbies along.
  5. After owning a 2004 Kluger CVX for 9 years I took delivery of my new 2013 Kluger KX-S last week (21/8/13). The 2004 model was always spot on in terms of speed accuracy (when checked against my various Garmin GPS' and those highway radar speed check displays one occasionally comes across). The new Kluger, however, shows a speed discrepancy of 4 Kl per hour .. i.e. 110kph on the speedo shows as 106kph on the Garmin. Even at lower speeds the discrepancy is the same .. 60kph on the speedo shows as 56 on the Garmin and so on. Its all very well to say this is within ADR tolerance rules and that there are benefits (e.g. avoidance of radar speed fines). It does not, however, necessarily make for safe and secure driving in certain situations. Only yesterday in an attempt to get up some kilometres prior to the first complimentary service check I took to driving down the Hume Highway from Sydney to Moss Vale for lunch and on three occasions at different times, despite driving in the slow lane at the speedo indicated speed of 110kph, different semis/B doubles/ triples etc came up behind and tailgated, flashed lights, air-horned me and eventually overtook cutting me off dangerously pulling sharply in front after overtaking. I was in the slow lane!! nowhere else to go. You just dont need it. Even though the Garmin was indicating a slower speed I did wonder if it was correct. Such doubts pass through the mind. Yes .. I will be complaining at the first service but if one takes notice of other contributors to this topic, probably to no avail.
  6. Just bought a new 2013 Kluger KX-S and kept my pair of Aero Roof Racks from the 2004 CSX Kluger I traded. When I took delivery it was suggested to me that the 2004 Aeros should fit on the KX-S side rails. So what happens? I get home and .. they dont fit. The 'across' length of each rack is ok but the key lockable end clamps dont quite match the rail profile and won't clamp around properly. The outer face of each KX-S side rail is of a different curvature to the 2004 Kluger so there is no full wrap around clamping action. Even though I can get a bit of a tight grip the clamps won't curl under and I worry they might slip under load. I know I can go out and buy a new set of racks and sell the older ones on eBay but does anyone who may have faced a similar problem know of a simple and more economic fix ?
  7. Thanks for your responses. Ended up buying a KX-S. Just scrapes through my driveway Gates with the driver's mirror folded in. For general information here are the width dimensions of the 2013 Kluger KX-S Body Width (as shown on Toyota Specs): 1,910mm Width with External Mirrors fully extended: 2,190mm Width with both External Mirrors Folded against body: 1,925mm
  8. I am considering buying a Kluger KX-S and note that Toyota’s specifications show its body width as 1910mm Looking at the front elevation illustration of the car in Toyota’s Brochure it seems to show the width measurement as encompassing only the sides of the vehicle and not the ‘jut-out’ extension of the two side mirrors. I have a narrow driveway with gates and the distance between the gateposts is likely to be an issue in order to get the car through. My existing 2004 Kluger CVX passes through with very little clearance (with extended mirrors). Does anyone who owns a KX-S know the actual width across the KX-S .. from LHS mirror extended extremity to RHS extended extremity?
  9. Hi everyone. I’m a new member and live in suburban Sydney. I have owned and driven three Toyotas over the past 15 years (Camry and Corolla concurrently) and my present is a 2004 Kluger CVX which I have owned since new. All of my Toyotas have given me excellent trouble free service. Looking forward to sharing in and learning from the various Toyota orientated forums. Crowded Hour
