  1. I have not posted for a while however forgive me as i no longer own a sportivo anyway look, i agree with Stuart on this one in regards to the superior build quality, ride comfort/quality, styling and interior of the SP23. My mate has one that i reg drive and are a passenger of and they do have a lot of low end pick up however they do run out of legs when the revs hit 5000-5500 - dam shame. It will out handle the stock sportivo anyday period. I am biased and i love the sportivo for the pure smile value when driving it out on some country road, early in the morning on a cool autum day, the roar of the intake as the revs build up and then screaming all the way to the redline as cows and sheep freak out and run for cover from the approaching beast...oohh i am getting flashbacks. Mike.
  2. The clear tail lights look awesome..mmm was going to get them at one stage. I live around liverpool area sort of and have not seen you either..i'll keep my eyes peeled hey.. Mike PS What do you think of the guys at Jetspeed. I found them pretty rude and not helpful and they look at you weird when i said Corolla Sportivo...
  3. Gravityfreak, Does this cutting of the pipe have any effect operationally that you know of? Mike
  4. And Dave is a big guy! So depending on how heavy the other guy who was driving the SX maybe would have some bearing on result... Good stuff Dave Mike
  5. Dakota, Thanks for your comments. It just seems so conflicting i mean i asked again my Toyota dealer that i now get my car serviced at and they said not to worry if anything does go wrong with the engine (i have a CAI fitted) it will be coveredf. They said that they have to prove that the CAI caused the prob. It is only if something happened to the actual CAI it would not be covered. How do we get clarification on this matter. As you said if it is not in writing how will it stand up. I am sorry to make people think twice about installing a CAI on there new sportivo's or corolla's as once you have it on you will not take it off - guaranteed wow factor. Feel free to respond guys of other things you have been told by service dealers. Mike
  6. Is any one else freaking out here about the CAI fitted to their cars now? How do you know if your running too rich/lean? Can it be fixed? I know leaning out is far more dangerous for an engine. My sis is buying my car and i don't wont her to have any probs with warranty and such.. Mike
  7. Hi Guys, What do you think about the extended warranty offered by Toyota?Worth it if keeping car yeah Do you think that if say you had a CAI or exhaust that this would effect overall warranty or just those particular items that have been modified? Feel free to respond Cheers Mike Ps does anybody want to buy my ITG filter?
  8. Sorry Dave for not going..ill health prevented me. Congrats on your output mate. What is the bottom line on the dyno sheet? I am def going to the next one. Mike
  9. Hi Everyone, U know the bulge on the bonnet of our cars well someone has dented mine in. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy panel beater in Sydney? Cheers Michael.
  10. I did, however please navigate to the corolla bodykits under the GI Style body kit (silver corolla). I want that insert or whatever it is. Asked one of the staff at carmate - very unhelpful chap - said did not know what i was talking about. Anyone know? Mike
  11. Black Lights I hope this works Sorry if it does not.
  12. Got the car back today. Yep i happy with what they have done. Still a tad hard to shift when in lift but a big improvement on not being able to shift at all. I think..no..i am in love wih my stivy wivo again Guys get it done. There is no excuse now for shifting troubles. Cheers
  13. Hi Everyone, Sorry to bring up and old topic however thought you might like to know that there is an un-announced recall on our beloved sportivo's regarding the clutch. Apparently this is the root of the evil for the sticking gear shifts, notchiness etc etc.. I am getting my car back tomorrow so i will keep you informed how it goes. I suggest everyone get in contact with there dealer if you have not already done so. Cheers
  14. Thanks Guys..i love this forum. I will check for splits/cracks in pipe. Peekay as always thanks for your helpful comments :) Ok the gearbox problem well as you know i have like some others various problems with sticking gear shifts, vibrations and clunking when ****ing. My clutch also was squeaking and has been for about 4 months. Ok so i took it in for service at Western Toyota at Guildford (highly recommend) and told them of my problems and again about the clutch that apparently they fixed last time <_< .Anyways they took it for a spin and said yes there are problems - no ****. Received a ph call saying that your car wont be ready for some time as waiting on parts for the new gear box they are putting in Thanks Mr Toyota. I cant wait to take it for a spin now to see if it has resolved the problems. Mike
  15. Hey Oz, How did you fix the problem? Will it do any damage? I can't check at the moment because my car is in getting a new gearbox..thats another story Cheers Mike
  16. Just wanting to find out if any others on this forum know of or about a solution to problems i am having with my CAI. When starting the car say in the morning when the engine is cold i am getting a spitting sound from the CAI. It also sounds like it is about to cut out. After a few minutes however it seems ok. Weird yes. Also if i was to take off without warming it up when pressing the accelerator it will go flat to the floor and hesitate and burble like there is no fuel or air getting through? Weird yes. Can anybody help? Mike
  17. GGG, I have had 18x7.5 rims with 215/45 tyres with 35mm lowered Springs and yes it did scrub and bottom out occasionly. 45 profile was prob wrong - 40 yes but i wanted a bit more comfort. Mate going from 16's to 18's with low profiles you will notice a significant decrease in ride comfort..and even more with lowered springs but the handling will improve.
  18. This is what i am sending to all those adresses listed by xoom on Monday. The barrage won't stop What do you guys think. Yes i know it will probably fall on deaf ears :( Just keep emailing Just keep emailing Just keep emailing! Dear Sir, The sole purpose of this email is to express my complete dissatisfaction and frustration that i myself and many other fellow owners of the Corolla Sportivo have or are enduring in trying to seek resolution on a number of issues that plague our cars. The below problems are some but certainly not limited to, what i have experienced from purchase date- 1. Squealing Brakes 2. Knocking noise in left front area (struts were replaced a month ago and noise is still occuring. Rear struts were replaced as well - noise still present) 3. Squeaky clutch ( has been lubricated three times without success)Won't replace? But they will next time i'll make sure of that 4. Dash board rattles 5. Seat belt retractor rattles - Passenger side ( has been tightened numerous times without success) 6. Vibration in engine bay - cannot fix? 7. Notchy and clunky gearbox - characteristic of the car well read on.. This issue is the biggest concern for not only me but alot of other owners that are having the same problem when changing gears at high revolutions. At all times when i am in lift (with clutch fully depressed) the gear shifter will not engage in gear unless revolutions are decreased, basically it gets stuck and wont slot in. Before you reply saying that this is not how the car should be driven and this is the result, beacuse that is crap and you know it. I and many others bought the vehicle based on it's high revolution range and vtec like quality. Why has toyota designed an engine with max power at the top of it's rev range and a gearbox that won't allow the change of gears when in this high end lift band. Please explain. Don't give me that crap either as well about pleasing the majority and sticking in a soft ***** clutch so Grandma and Grandpa will still be able to drive it. Clutch with a compromise- this is supposed to be a sports car and thats how you have marketed it and that's why probably 95% of people have purchased it. I will not go into how we were deceived about the car being underpowered, beacause to be honest it will not happen again as this will be the last Toyota i will buy. I still don't know if what i paid for is exactly what Toyota has marketed about the car. Who knows. So what are you going to do about this? I have paid a significant sum of money for this car which is faulty and is not operating within it's capabilities. I do not abuse my car but yes i enjoy some spirited driving, well should we not as this is supposed to be a sports car right. Hence the name "Sportivo". The only modification i have is a cold air intake. Can't link that to the problem. You will probably try. You will most likely not respond to this email based on your thoughts that i abuse and race my car to it's extremes and this is my doing and the result of such. Pathetic. I and most others are genuine car enthusiasts and treat and look after our cars with great passion and care. It's up to you. However the emails will not stop with you. Yes and thats a promise. Michael.
  19. Good stuff Adrian. That would be great if you came up with a template. This will be definately a numbers thing so the more we get writing in, calling and so fourth the more attention it will draw, like the old saying the hinge that squeaks the loudest gets oiled first. Well done guys and girls lets get this resolved. Mike
  20. Thanks for the welcome Xoom. Sorry i'm being honest about the colour...Look i don't want to complain anymore but i think we all have a very valid fault that needs retification. I really feel for all the owners that have this prob. It's highly embarassing when dragging someone off the lights and the dam thing wont go into gear Anyway i love my sportivo and we were once nearly departed but we have since reunited..aaahh
  21. My car is silver and i have the same issue with the gearbox and the reluctant shift action from 1st > 2nd. Under 6000rpm it's fine, anything over that it wont go in without decreasing revolutions and sometimes double clutching. Silva you have an excellent point about going to a gearbox specialist to get a diagnosis of what is happening. Lets take this all the way guys to Toyota. I read somewhere that Toyota's cash reserves are 3 trillion dollars, go figure.
  22. Ok so we have the below people from Sydney confirmed for a group buy? 1. TJ 2. Screaminrolla 3. Myself Anyone else?
