Thanks or the info. I don't know much about this...but how does the service mechanic properly diagnose problems then, if their diagnostic device doesn't work? Basically they can perform a normal service but any warnings, lights, anything tat might be aut electrical...then needs to go off to a different place? Also...some of the vehicle importers offer servicing. Do they generally try and rip you, thinking you do not have many options? I am really keen on getting the Estima soon but obviously have some concerns about headaches it might cause me if something goes wrong.

Additionally, I have read that the 3.0L versions cannot be read by Toyota dealership scanners to identify what different engine fault indicators mean. Can anyone confirm if the 2.4L is EXACTLY the same engine as the local Tarago, can be used by local scanners, and can spit out ENGLISH for the local dealer service staff?

I am about to buy a Tarago, but the circa 2005 Estima looks like a much better option due to the better features and finish, and lower km than most Taragos. I have read all the info about the chassis being the same, and that SOME of the engines are the same as the local Tarago, with others using the ES300 engine. From the research I have done, most parts are the same as the local Tarago, but not all. Every dealer I spoke to said they have not seen enough Estimas to know if parts are a problem, so I should avoid them and choose a local Tarago. From everyone out there with an Estima, what problems have you found with parts, and will I need some specialist import expert to do all my servicing, or Toyota dealers should be capable even though they are trying to tell me no?
