try another ecu some one must have one you could test it with

does it do only under load or will it do it free reving at 1200 rpm

get it into a dedicated transmission specialist ASAP you just may save yourself need a new box if you dont leave it to long it could be a dud sensor or a sticky valve body or even a lazy solenoid it may just need a tweek and a flush but if you destroy it it will cost much more

wouldnt that be a pain in the ***** on my 2005 id have to hold the shifter constantly it cant be locked in 3rd

well it sounds like you have killed the clutch. your best avenue if you do not own a hoist and the correct tools will be to ring a couple of garages and get quotes . the gear box needs to be removed and the flywheel machined you should have the rear main oilseal replaced at the same time the gearbox is really bloody heavy obtain a manual and it will help you if you wish to undertake the job rough pricing clutch kits start around $350 can get upto 600 easily depending on brand and type flywheel regrind about $60 and labour around 6 hours at 100 an hour $600 as i said this is a rough guide

well ive just bought my 2005 turbo diesel prado and i love it filled it up in brisbane drove to noosa then up the beach to inskip point (about 200 ks of sand driving) then all the way down to newcastle it has a snorkel and a bulbar otherwise all standard and ive now done 1300 ks and have just over a 1/4 of a tank to go overtaking was easy even up hill
