  1. Warren7, i have just bought a 1997 cruiser and have the same problem as you, hopefully someone replies and can help. Do you know what the knob to the right of the steering wheel that say "lock" actually does? Cheers GavM
  2. Mushie, Just been talking about this with a mate. From what we understand all is good with fifth gear as long as you don't leave it in fifth and labour up hills etc. Basically use your gears properly. We were told that if you let it labour while in fifth you will risk "stretching" the gears. Cheers
  3. Hello all, i am new to the forum and a new owner of an older Toyota 4wd. i bought a 1997 land cruiser RV 1FZ03 petrol.Full time 4wd. I plan on doing a bit of camping etc but nothing extreme with regards to off roading. Currently just giving it a birthday by changing all the oils and fluids etc. Car is roadworthy and pretty clean for its age. It has done 213000 klms. i do have a couple of questions if anyone can help. Can anyone explain the sub tank operation. i have filled both tanks but when i push the sub tank button it only lights up for 1 second and goes off. i can hear a solenoid or pump pull in but i am now not sure what tank i am running on. i understand i will see one of the gauges decrease but right at the moment i want to be sure all is operating correctly. Also , there is a knob to the right of the steering wheel which has a symbol and says "lock". The owners manual and the Haynes manual i have do not mention this at all. Can anyone assist with the above 2 questions. Cheers Gav
