  1. I poked around in the fuse box till I found a hot that came off and on with the ignition.
  2. Thank you Ashley. Further searching shows the "AZ" engine used till 2012 sometimes sucks lots of oil past the rings. The "AR" engine used in the RAV4 in 2013 doesn't have this problem. We'll be looking for a 2013 to buy next year. Cheers, Mack
  3. Hello everybody, We want to get our 3rd Toyota, a RAV4. I've read about excessive oil consumption in some engines and want to know how much to worry about it. What engines are effected? We're thinking about a 2012-14 with on demand 4wd. Is there any way to check a used RAV4 to see if it uses lots of oil besides driving it 2000km? Would the tail pipe show signs? Any pre purchase advice greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mack 94 Camry wagon 5sp 06 Corolla wagon 5sp

  5. Hi, With the forum's help I've programed a new fob for my wife's 2006 Corolla wagon, thanks again Now the biggest problem is a previous owner applied window tint and cut the defog circuits. I patched them with a conductive glue from ebay which worked for a little while then the smoke escaped. The tint is also scratched blurry and needs to be replaced. I'm thinking the easiest thing to do is replace the glass. Is this a job I can do? May I have your thoughts and opinions please? Thanks, Mack Yarraville
  6. The only thing I did differently was to start the 20 times on-off within 10 seconds after reconnecting the battery.
  7. Success!! New fob arrived today. As soon as I reconnected the battery my wife did the 20 on-offs. It took a couple of tries but eventually the hazards flashed a bunch of times, she clicked the new fob and did on-off twice to put the remote out of program mode. My wife is happy, thank you. Mack
  8. Still no luck. I've ordered a new fob from ebay. Perhaps it will have different instructions. BTW, the dome light comes on with the door open as does the door ajar light on the dash so I think the fuses are ok. One thing, now the car idles too slow and is ruff. I wonder if I've reset the EFI somehow. Cheers, Mack
  9. after disconnecting the battery I turned on the headlights to drain the system. I think I waited 30 seconds. I'll check the fuse..... wouldn't that be funny if it were blown, heh. The car beep beep beeps when the key is in. I'll give it another go tomorrow, thanks for your advise! Cheers, Mack
  10. No joy, dis- re-connected the battery, with the driver's door open, switched the key on and off a bilizon times but no hazard lights. Where is the receiver? Maybe it's got a loos connection. Thanks, Mack
  11. Thanks mr2, I dis- and re-connected the battery and switched the key on and off 20 times but the hazard lights never flashed. I tried a couple of times disconnecting the battery each go. BTW, we only have one fob. I hate to take it to a dealer. Anymore suggestions? Thanks, Mack Cheers, Mack
  12. Thanks mr2, Here's what it looks like: The case pops apart so the battery can be changed. All the Toyota fobs are two button so I'm a little confused. Thanks, Mack
  13. I should mention the fob is the single button unit. car is 2006 Corolla wagon 5 speed. Thanks, Mack
  14. Hi All, I'm hoping to get some advise on my wife's single button remote locking fob. I've tried a couple of known good batterys but no go. I tried to find the sensor on the rear fender wells but it's not on either. I hate to take it to a shop but it's looking like it's past my abilitys. Any advise welcome. Thanks, Mack Yarraville Vic
