2008 gxl replaced the engine and problems still persist

Hi our 2008 gxl landcruiser has just had its engine and injectors replaced due to low compression. After having it off the road for 2 weeks to get repaired we have got it back and the problems are still happening. The engine light comes on the 4lo flashes and also the vsc off also flashes. We also have the smoke still coming out of the exhaust.and everynow and again y ou can smell the diesel. Anyone one have any ideas on what this could be?
