  1. I haven't checked mine since installing it June last year. I agree that the Ryco product is far superior to the OEM type. I dare say you got lucky when you got yours because sparesbox has taken the listing down since. I suspect someone there listed them with the wrong price. I don't see one less than $28 plus shipping. I would've bought three at $22.
  2. Is it possible Andy disconnected a ground wire by mistake ?? It's difficult to say without seeing the car, but get your mechanic to check every place Andy was.
  3. Not sure what "Andy" has done, but if he has disconnected plugs here or there, get your mechanic to go over the areas where Andy put his hands. He may not have plugged a connector back correctly. The fault code you mention is loss of communication with starter control. I googled this. If all the fuses have been checked and ok, then I would be focusing on the connectors.
  4. I don't think there's anything that's impossible. You can buy the tub liner kit to suit the standard model and custom fit it yourself. You will most likely need to remove the roll bar, install the liners and then re install the roll bar. There may be areas which will require careful cutting to allow for clearance of the roll bar perhaps, but certainly not impossible. Have you checked Ebay ? There are a few on offer for your consideration. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Hilux-2015-2020-Dual-Cab-SR5-Underail-Tub-Liner-Ute-Liner-Bed-Liner/143594475927?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3D94f186b76307472bbfc0b2a627731501%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D174446311062%26itm%3D143594475927%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithDarwoV3BBEV2b&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851
  5. Just had a look and yep, you're right. They are in Rockingham W.A. Not sure why I thought it was Sydney. When you buy too much stuff you tend to lose track 😜
  6. I won't have to do anything like this for a fair while I think, but it's always good to research and be prepared for the unexpected. It's good to be able to cross reference the various selling platforms too. Ebay can be a good place to start, but then Amazon comes to mind as well for the cross checking of prices and various other offerings.
  7. I concur with Robert. Old mate Andy doesn't sound like an experienced or competent person. This is why I don't trust anyone to work on my car. All the fiddling he did needs to be reversed and It should fire back up, unless he has caused damage to the ECU for example. That's a long shot, but anything is possible when hacks like this are let loose. I also shop at the same SCA. I've found them to be pretty helpful. You should be talking to them about any out of pocket expenses to recover the vehicles electronics. It's a damn shame.
  8. Hi Gavin, and welcome to the Forum. I dare say that you'd have to go into the vehicle's diagnostics to be able to set this. I doubt the head unit is that smart to have that adjustability feature. Do you have your vehicle serviced at Toyota ? If so, get them to do it for you as they have the relevant software to be able to drill down to these menus, unless you know someone with a decent scanner that you can try. Let us know how you get on. Cheers
  9. Nice work mate. Car is looking great ! Don't be shy with the wheel cleaner. Give the tyres a hit too and scrub them well with a tyre brush to help kill that browning effect. I've purchased items from Refract too and I have to say have been quite pleased with the quality. W.A. you said ? I'm pretty sure they have an outlet in Sydney. I'll have to check this. I haven't posted them here yet, but I needed some proper detailing brushes and they had what I was looking for. Also purchased an inspection light too recently. Keep up the great work ! Cheers
  10. I'd adjust it also. better to have that safety buffer as you say. Thanks for sharing Adam.
  11. Hi Adam. I've never really paid too much attention to HUD to be honest but this looks like a handy gadget for those long trips. How does it read the speed ? Does it have a GPS module in it ? Also, just remember that your cars speedo is always reading higher than real time speed. So you could see 64 or 65 on the dial but you're actually doing 60.
  12. Excellent. Great to hear Ash. Using a fresh microfibre cloth also enhances the clean up process too. Be sure to wash them thoroughly so you can reuse them. 30ml for the windows is too much, yes. Once the applicator pad is saturated after the first couple of passes, you tend to use less as you go because the suede cloth is still wet with product. Usually performing the criss cross method gets the coating down evenly and makes buffing off even easier. Perfect. No problem with that at all. Good call. It can be used as a substitute for isopropyl alcohol. Making your own waterless wash is something everybody should do if they want to as it is by far the most prudent and economical way to have it for way cheaper than a ready made one off the shelf. I have ONR as you know and this can also be diluted down to make detail spray or clay lube. Great stuff. It's 9/10ths prep and 1/10th application. Good to see you have a go mate. Have fun with it. The best way to approach it is to have meticulous planning and pick the right day and conditions for specific tasks. My Parents are stuck in Queensland (visiting my sister), otherwise I'd have my carport already. This will make my life a bit easier and be able to tackle the list of product testing I've been putting off. I'll be sure to post all these up when I can. I haven't forgotten guys. My apologies.
  13. It's auto. I suspect by this time the O.P has probably sussed out the paddock bashed donor car and has already made a decision. I would assume the transmissions may be the same with a different bell housing among other things. It would be great if people who come here searching for answers actually come back with some useful information so that others may learn too. Sadly this rarely happens. Pictures would also be excellent to show any differences.
  14. Just wondering if the parts you bought were from a model of Corolla that doesn't support the one touch feature. Not sure which models do, but not all have this.
  15. Hard to say what it could be from the very limited information. Did you take a look underneath to see if there are any signs of fluid leaks ? If there aren't any, I would tend to think the clutches are wearing out from lack of servicing. Does the vehicle have a service history and did this include the transmission ? How many Kays has it done ?
  16. G'day Syd and welcome to the forum mate. You are a man of discerning taste. Enjoy the forum and your Aurion. Cheers
  17. Good stuff Ash. I'd be interested to see how the product buffs off. Did it leave any smearing ? Being a slightly watered down liquid, I'd definitely put another coat on to help build up the resistance. When you say "paint prep spray", did you mean Prepsol or wax and grease remover ? This should be fine, but a strong Isopropyl alcohol is ideal. P&S over the top isn't really necessary, but it wouldn't hurt to add it. Maybe wait a couple of months before apply the P&S and see how ell the ceramic performs as a stand alone and then apply the Beadmaker. Beadmaker is a great product, very versatile, but doesn't have long lasting capabilities, externally. I coated my Colorado 2 months ago and it's still holding up ok. The gloss is amazing too. You can really notice it when you stand right back from it. I've also been using it for my interior trim and find it to be excellent especially on those rainy days when you get rain spots on the door trim when, it doesn't leave water spots.
  18. Who did the work ? Was it a DIY or the Garage ? You need to scan the ECU for fault codes, as Ashley mentioned, record these, and do a reset after the repairs.
  19. I suspect this is another one of those R&D scams perpetrated by the motor industry. It seems like the "first" of any new model will carry flaws and they watch and wait for the feedback to come in and then go to work fixing the issues in the back rooms. Somehow, I feel the next series, these issues will be fixed, unless they come up with a fix for the current series boxes. All this new tech is making it harder for manufacturers to keep up with.
  20. I agree to a point. I think it's getting out of hand with these 8 speed, 10 speed things. Why do we need 8 freakin gears to propel a vehicle ?? We got by with 3 speeds, then 4 speeds, then 5 speeds and finally 6 speeds and all was good in the world. Now they have to keep pushing the envelope such that these fancy new transmissions are so complicated and have way to many gears it doesn't know what it wants to do. 8 speed will always be shifting back and fourth. I can only imagine what PIA the 10 speed would be like. I have to say, The U660E in the Aurion is fine enough for me. It is absolutely flawless in operation. I have never had an issue. Not even a funny shift, ever.
  21. Hi Aaron, wow, now that's what I call a report ! Good to see you took it straight up to Toyota, and although they "couldn't find a problem", I would say that it is just poorly designed and not working as it should because of it's inherent design. It can be within manufacturer specs, as they say and still behave badly at times. That really sucks and I hate the cop out Toyota throws out. I guess their hands are tied as the dealer isn't a manufacturer, but in saying this, they should represent their customers better even if they have to bash the door down at Toyota for their incompetence in this regard. Are these the same 8 speed in the Camry too ? I have a mate with a current Gen Camry V6 and I've not heard of any issue with his.
  22. Not sure about that. Best to ask the seller as they would know this information. I have heard the camera may still work but the other controls, eg, steering controls may need to be reworked to function. Maybe others who have installed aftermarket head units can chime in. My experience in this dept is limited unfortunately. Let us know how you get on. All the best
  23. Hi James, If you tried the procedure in the video linked above then I'd say it's cactus mate. Did you try the procedure more than once ? Sometimes it may not work on the first go. Sounds like it's corrupted and not able to complete the boot procedure. Factory Toyota head units are rubbish to be honest. My CD player failed many years ago and I'm not surprised as it's a cheap fujitsu product. I wished Toyota would put more care in the head units as they do with the engineering they throw in these cars.
  24. Hi Dave and welcome to the forum mate. I'm not sure why your cruise does what it does but in the bigger scheme of things, it's the last thing you need to worry about. Your speedo is set higher than the actual speed anyway so this issue you think you have is actually nothing to worry about. Even if your speedo reads 82 or 83 in an 80 zone, you can be assured that you are not speeding. Speedometers are mandated by law to read approximately 5 kM/HR higher than the actual travelling speed. John Cadogan explains it well here
