  1. After visiting non-toyota repair organisation they found much cheaper solution. Apparently the MCV36R engines after 2003 were fitted with brake actuator made by Bosch. We checked and sure enough my car had the Bosch unit. The mechanic obtained the Correct part from Bosch parts dealer and fitted for around $550 incl fitting & GST. Note this price was later found to be correct only if the original defective brake actuator is returned to Bosch. Without returning the original add another $250. This may suggest the newly fitted actuator may be refurbished. It did come with 3 year Bosch warranty so I am happy. ABS warning light is off and has not been displayed for over 2 months of daily running. Very happy with local mechanic. Very unhappy with Toyota spare parts organisation for their outrageous price gouging. regards Darren
  2. I have a 2004 Toyota Camry model ALTISE, 4D SEDAN, 3.0L, MCV36R which has recently begun displaying ABS Warning Light. I took the car to Toyota dealer for diagnosis. They said I need to replace brake actuator. Part # 4405006030 ACTUATR BRAKE V497 at cost of AUD$1,568.73, over $2000 including fitting & taxes. I searched YouTube for abs brake actuator and found video HTTPS:// + youtu.be/LX1t252rKDA which suggests a computer board replacement. In the video they call it ABS computer. Can anyone confirm the computer board is the ABS brake actuator or is the brake actuator the whole assembly board and manifold the board is bolted to, or is it something else entirely? Can anyone suggest alternative solution? How risky would second hand part be? Dealer quoted 2 hours to fit, does this sound reasonable? Has anyone fitted brake actuator themselves? What degree of difficulty is involved? Regards Darren
