  1. Yes mate we have our challenges in life to overcome, mine is slowly passing from my lungs daily I start to feel better with these latest anti biotics kicking in they are very strong so should not be long now until i feel human again, yours as you said have built up with life an so much happening my friend so allow that time and don't push yourself until your 100% again.

Yes the beading was lovely and the next day all the glass looked great, clean no water marks on any of it so very happy, yes mate i have 3 sets of blades so I rotate them and all get cleaned and have applied some of that treatment as well so when needing replacing they are in great condition and ready to go.

You take care of yourself mate

  2. Hi John, no the engine wont suddenly stop working. It just is using oil so as long as you keep it topped up it will keep going. When it comes down to what the issue is will determine what way you go trade it in while working and worth something or do a repair and keep the car.

It all comes down to how good the rest of the car is, what it is worth as a trade in on a new car etc or what it will cost to get it right mate. Money at these tough times is tight for all of us so think hard about which way to go until then just keep an eye on the oil level

  3. John yes do take it back to have them double check for further leaks, that does sound too much for 5K, so if it is not leaking it sounds like it may have worn out rings or valve stem seals sadly, but then I am no mechanic. Either way get the experts to look at it's consumption.

  4. Thanks My Dear Friend for the good wishes, saw the Dr again today he put me on a further course of anti biotics to nail this on the head hopefully, so very sorry to hear your not doing well so as you said don't push it mate time is needed to heal then any projects you have you can tackle.

Actually rained fairly well today so got to see this Ceramic Glass do it's thing and it was excellent windscreen was beading nicely and all the other glass was dispersing all the rain brilliantly, so I am happy I got it applied last week as I feel rotten right now so even though it was a tough time getting the energy to apply it was worth it, took my time stopping to sit gain my breathe.

You look after yourself mate, need you here as your always a wealth of knowledge and friendship I cherish greatly.

    Hugs to you and yours

    Robert

  5. Thanks Tony Yes I like the Rain X products but as the Armour all Ceramic was on sale went with that. I was amazed how good it has come up, and after a nice cruise with my beloved lady no streaks or smears and looked great. Will see how it lasts as "Faye" is due for a good wash very soon just need to get motivated and energised to do it. Have been battling Bronchial Pneumonia for a few weeks and it has hit me hard so not doing much lately.

    Keep safe Mate

    Love to you and yours

  6. Ok after checking out the sales on at all of my local Auto stores I went into Supercheap and grabbed a bottle of the Armour All Ceramic Glass Cleaner and Coating, I felt a bit stronger today after fighting this horrible Bronchial Pneumonia now for 2 weeks so gave all the glass including the headlights a good clean and coating. It came up fantastic looking in the garage. But it is only out in the sun when it truly show if it did its job. So far very happy with the product and at $18.20 on special was well worth the price. Thanks to those who gave their ideas, I also swapped over the wiper blade assemblies after good clean with IPA so lets see how things go.

  7. Sorry John I have no idea how much oil could be normal usage. I am sure if any have an idea they will comment. I would just keep an eye on the dipstick and if your worried talk to the mechanic I would call the mechanical workshop that i=did the service ask them what they consider normal oil usage.

    Good Luck Mate

  8. Thanks Ashley and Conrod, I have looked at the Armour All latest range and they seem to have lifted their game a lot in new great products so will definitely look at that one Ash. I followed advise by Pan The Organiser on YT and cleaned with IPA and yes the gunk the blades hold is dramatic it did help but was more after a coating to try out on the windscreen so will delve into trying to stash some newer ones in my cabinet for the next TLC day for "Faye" once I get over a bad run with Bronchial Pneumonia I am battling right now grrr has been a rough few weeks of late. Thanks as always Guys your the best there is

  9. John these days no real difference, he may have been using up stock oil he had, if it was me next time you visit him ask him. I prefer fully synthetic oils used in mine but we all have our own preferences and with the cost of a basic service these days I am fussy what is used in my Presara. Just keep an eye on how much oil your using up mate as if it is a lot get it sorted as soon as you can before any issues arise.

  10. Ok so as I love treating my beautiful 2009 Toyota Aurion Presara called "Faye" to lots of love and attention I have a question.

What do you use for your windscreen as far as a coatings? I have tried a few but am never 100% happy with the way it lasts or how the wipers react to the coatings and wiper chatter ends up forcing me to get rid of whatever I have tried.

So many have different opinions about using Ceramic or Graphene sprays, so unless they do as on the bottle I bypass them. I am very fussy with wanting a crystal clear windscreen and would like to hear what others have used and are super happy with. Some that I see available they want an arm a leg and your first born child price wise so something reasonable in price but does a fantastic job of making the wipers glide smoothly and that lasts is what i am after

    Thanks all

  11. No John wont hurt it, the heavier weight will still protect your engine and also on the subject of topping it up, well I would stick to what is in it myself rather than blending a different synthetic oil. Keep an eye on oil consumption always, if it is burning a lot of oil you have other issues that would need attention.

  12. Great video so TY Ash, yes 5K is it for me has been since not long after we bought our Presara, I was told at Toyota (close to the 30K service mark) the usual story of stick to 10K as 5K is not needed so decided to leave them and stick to my own mechanic as he agreed with my perspective of 5K oil changes, now 14 years later our baby still runs like a swiss watch and the old oil on change day is still lovely and clean looking and now 134575 Klms later intend to stick with that policy.

  13. TY Tony a very interesting and well written service guide, yes the Ph was amazing after so long in there, looking forward to the other services you performed. Are you changing the serpentine belt while in there mate or just checking it all out. Thanks again you always provide a very thorough report worthy of our TCCN Guru AMD.

  14. Hi Steve, No not tried any of the latest Camry's all I know is if he loves the Aurion which I can see no reason why not they are brilliant cars maybe he should look for a higher level than the ATX, for power and handing the Sportivos rock, or if he wants class then Prodigy or Presara that way he gets the best of both worlds. There are quite a few around on the market but these days they do go for quite a bit with new car delays kicking up the prices of second hand. at dealers.

I love our 2009 Presara as it is always a total pleasure to sit in drive and just enjoy that power every now and then for fun.

  15. Hi Gilbo, Yes totally agree with Ashley as far as 2GR-FE timing chains, if the vehicle is maintained well they will last and never need attention, The Video Ashley put up is well worth looking at and subscribing to The Car Care Nut channel as he is a superb Toyota Lexus Expert and explains things very well, he has quite a few 2 GR-Fe videos on various issues etc.

  16. Hi Ian and welcome to the forum mate, yes she is a beauty and has been well loved so enjoy it. I am sure any questions or help needed someone will try their best to help. Ty for the Pic's and let us know how things progress as far as making her your own.

  17. Hi Zac, That is a tough one mate, unless someone has done the conversion I am sure they will answer it. Personally it comes down to what you can afford and what your after as far as audio, Everyone has a different idea or quality and features like or they want in head units, I would suggest talking to some automotive audio stores like Monster Audio or even the auto stores like Supercheap etc to get an idea of what is available in your price bracket. I went with Monster Audio and found them brilliant they knew their stuff, so unless your thinking of doing it yourself make sure you know exactly what you will need to make it a smooth operation, nothing worse than being half way through a job only to find things don't fit or your missing something essential.

Let us know how things go

  18. Thanks Tony, Well I have a OCD with my glass, I also used to be very careful with most glass cleaner products as you said I do try and keep "Faye" pristine and took me a while to actually buy something as I also did as you suggested for years a hot water clean and wipe using the 2 bucket 2 cloth method and yes I did get good results and still do that every now and then. And I follow a few detailers on Y-Tube and when I saw the new TW products being tested on there noted down the glass one and when I saw it was on sale I decided to lash out and try it. I was pretty impressed I must say with no streaks and a lovely finish. Yes the prices are bloody ridiculous for all the car products these days, so this will last me a long time as I will only use it every now and then. But my beloved wife told me to buy something for me as I never do and think she felt guilty having just bought a few dresses herself, so to make her happy i got it. You being my go to detail man understands we must keep our loved ones happy so she was happy I was happy and I get to live a few more years LOL

    Keep Well My Dear Friend

  19. Ok so grabbed a bottle of the new Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Glass Cleaner on sale finally at a decent price $20 instead of the usual $31-$32 a bottle. So far i am very impressed with it, the sprayer is fantastic as it gives a very fine even spray covering a big area in one pass. The wipe off is brilliant no streaks at all and can be used for all glass including your info screens etc. Thought I would pass this on in case any other wish to try it out, also grabbed 2 bottles of the Bars Bugs Windscreen additive at Repco for $3 a 600 Ml bottle so I would check out all the sales currently on at your favourite store as lots of great bargis about but would definitely recommend the TW Glass Cleaner it is probably the best I have tried in quite a while.
