  1. I have a bit of experience with other cars and am just about to upgrade mine in the exact same car as the OP, I can help by posting photos of the process when I do mine in a few months time, still shopping for the parts I will use and the Eonon is one I'm looking at but I would prefer a double din model made by Pioneer, Clarion or Alpine as they are all great head units but if you wish to keep the steering wheel controls it is not as easy as installing a Eonon and they will cost you at least double the price for similar features. http://aerpro.com/chto3c http://axxessinterfaces.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=197 Anyone done this and can provide some info on what is involved and if all the steering wheel controls worked when using one of the above devices with a 3rd party head unit? Fleebay has $10 plastic adapters to make the corolla a doubel din without gaps in the dash. Or this one has 3.5mm and USB features. Advantage is you can move a double din unit to your next car even if u buy a different make car. http://aerpro.com/atb3usb Screen mirroring is great as you then dont need to pay a company for map updates, you simply use google maps from your phone as the GPS. See warning below.. If u choose a unit with android app support you can display google maps directly from the head unit with no phone, you can also display obd2 readouts and many more android apps. BIG WARNING for Apple users: If you own an iPhone and install OS9 apple has changed their airplay to stop 3rd party companies from using this feature. Newer phones only have 0S9 available like iphone6, older iphones like the 4 and 5 series will probably work if you use OS8, but if you install the OS9 update it may break screen mirroring! If you buy the eonon make sure they garrantee it will work with your apple phone with the latest OS9 update as Apple do allow this if a company pays a licence fee. I see they advertise some iphones work BUT I'm pretty sure if you install the OS9 updates this may stop the phones they list from working unless they have paid for the license fee and the firmware is updated. If you have a iphone 4 or 5 you may be able to downgrade the IOS to version 8 and have the feature working. So if anyone has a eonon with an iphone using iOS9 can they let us know if they work or not? thanks and this would effect all stereos regardless of which brand as it steams from a change that Apple made to block 3rd party companies around the end of 2015. Apple have released two features for cars that require a license fee, they are Siri eyes free which allows you to read emails and texts with Siri and your cars speakers. And the far more advanced CarPlay which does a lot of things YouTube videos show it in action.
  2. Hi All, Just posting in here to say hi and introduce myself and my new-ish car I've had for 2 days. Car: Toyota Corolla 2012 Ascent Hatch (think its a zre182r) with 64,000 km on the clock. Me: Trained as a fitter and turner by Holden Engine Company many years ago. Done all my own maintenance on a number of cars for family. Restored two 1974 Holden Torana's. Looking forward to posting some guides with pictures on any work I do on the car to help others.
