  1. yeah good idea. the dealer extended warranties usually cover up to only $1000 of work anyway. hardly worth it in the long run.
  2. I gotta put my two cents in recommend my local dealer here in Melton, Melton Toyota have been look after me for a couple of years now. Sure they're a little more expensive than other workshops but they've never ripped me off. Always always ask before carrying out any extra work. The service is always around the same price (approx $215 at the most). They even helped me get my car fixed for free when it was a couple of months out of warranty. The synchros went in second and they replaced nearly the entire contents of the gearbox. lol. nearly $3000 work including labor... I'm just glad they're my local dealer and not someone else like.. like... Le Mans Toyota in Deer Park/Footscray!!! They're a bunch of greasy car salesmen if i ever saw one... eww
  3. be careful with magnatec too. I've heard bad reports about it from a couple of different mechanics.
  4. Don't think it would be a good idea to run this grade of oil in a 2zz. It's remains a little too thick at high temperature for such a high revving engine. (I just read an article on oil grades, etc in from VACC)
  5. hmmmm.... I'm gonna go pull my rollerblades apart right now...
  6. Thanks for your replies everybody. BUT it turns out my shocks are fine. I pulled my rear shocks apart tonight and discovered that the mechanic at sunshine tyre factory is a total idiot. He was using the wrong rubbers for bump stops and the outer shock guide thingies he actually left off.... I couldn't beleive it. Here i am an unqualified amateur who can put this back together better than some big commercial superstore. so relieved i fixed it. I'll def look at KONI's in the future but now I gotta worry about new tyres... not gettin adrenalin's again they didn't last long at all. Oh and if you're wondering why i didn't get shocks fitted while i had the springs out was because i thought the shocks would be fine cos they've only done about 25,000 kays(and they are) as i've had D2 coilovers on the car for 35,000kays. so yeah i'm gonna wear these shocks out before upgrade... thanks guys
  7. Sorry guys but I'm desperate for some advice asap. I'm really tired from searching the forum: I had Kings spring Super lows installed today. I just need to know the best shock absorbers to replace my stocks with. Can anyone help me? My stock shocks (especially in the rear) are absolutely stuffed. I was thinking KONI's but not sure on spending the money. I can't seem to find part numbers or proper advice for super lows for KYB's or anything else... :help: :help:
  8. I have a question while this subject is about. I just got my D2's out and put my stock suspension in with King super lows in my sportivio. Now i think the stock shocks have had it! The rears just hop about and make lot's of noise when i look in the boot i can see the shaft from the shocks trying to come through the carpet. SHOULD my mechanic have let it out of the garage like this? it feels very unstable (and unsafe) on the road. Does this sound right? Could they have done something wrong? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm going to fit some KONI's to it myself now (cos I just can't trust any mechanics anymore). I want to order the KONI's tomorrow. NOW is the KONI part number for the replacement struts (as listed in another thread) 86101416? will I be alright with these? You're friendly input will be much appreciated.
  9. I'm out... took too long so I decided to focus more on handling parts.
  10. $160,000 for a porsche. You'd only get one of those porsches that look good for that. what'd be the point when you can get a car that's half the price of a 911 yet much quicker and user friendly. I'd so choose the GTR over any of that crap. why would they drop the price. Look at the price of the previous GTR. and look at the amount of engineering that's gone into this one. I'm a fan of anything that can embarrass a porsche that much.
  11. I'm just gonna have to get some camber bolts... I like round abouts and the great ocean road waaaaaay too much. My shoulders is wearing out...
  12. haha if i was buying a car in order to pull chicks I wouldn't have bought a corolla. I'd have kept my MR2. That seemed to work just fine. Back on the subject though. I did speak to my local pedders and they were meant to get in contact with their R & D and let me know if there was anything the could do about the rear camber cos mine sucks on the left hand side. They never rang me back and i forgot about it.
  13. That's awesome I was looking into this. How much of an improvement in handling is it? And does anyone now of any aftermarket products for the rear camber, etc?
  14. OK i think it's about time I got one so I'll be in this time around. I'm a melb boy.
  15. I try to change the oil in my sportivo every 5000kms but last time i left it to about 7000 and it has ever burnt a drop of oil!!! I thrash it often too. not even when i hurled it down the great ocean road with the new suspension did it burn any oil!!. Now my old mr-s was a different story. it burnt oil like some of you are talking about... the engine had to be rebuilt and the oil light never came on when it ran out! Toyota also said the engine air/fuel mix was odd... Dam engine fairies!
  16. sorry guys. i got carried away partying. the drugs, sex and rock n roll got hold of me
  17. David received payment yesterday. so he sent it out yesterday. I got it today. installed it tonight. my hand hurts...
  18. there's a back road into lorne that has some real tight twists and turns. It's like a mountain course. and it finishes 10 seconds into lorne. then we could go into Lorne and have Lunch or whatever and continue down the GOR? plus the traffic isnt too bad this way and the slowerr traffic "usually" lets you pass. Just don't tailgate anyone cos the corners come outta no where (not for the faint hearted)
  19. OK i contacted Dave today and he had 2 left. So I've got 1 if anyone else is interested he has 1 more left to buy!
  20. what about rear camber adjustment. are there any products out there to adjust my bad camber on the rear?
  21. i never even noticed this topic. i will be contacting David this Monday. hopefully he has 1 left.
  22. just got mine tinted yesterday. darkest legal on front and even darker on the back windows. tint professor picked it up from my work at about 745am and returned it by 1130am. what a huge difference it makes. it was $265. i got quoted something like 310 from tint-a-car.
