  1. Evening Edited the title of the post because they don't exist Apparently the XV50 series is almost 100% identical to the XV40 series with the exception being the suspension which is JUST different enough that you can't use 40 series suspension parts / coilovers / etc and apparently nobody on the planet makes coilovers for 50 series Aurion
  2. G'day all Every website on the internet seems to only offer coilovers for pre-2012 XV40 Aurion Are these compatible with XV50 models? I can't imagine why they wouldn't but want to check to make sure Are BC Racing (/ Peddars) still the only ones who make Aurion compatible coilovers you can buy in Australia? Thanks mates EDIT: Before I forget I did try to Google this and also forum search but nothing showed up, maybe wrong search terms
  3. http://www.tein.com/srch/us_search.php?maker=TOYOTA&carmodel=CAMRY&modelyear=default&item=default Evening all, I want to lower my Aurion slightly. I know everybody says "Buy coilovers!" but I have no interest in racing my car, I just want to lower it a little, and everything I'm reading tells me that unless I want to spend more than my car is actually worth on coilovers, it's going to feel like driving a cement mixer. Ride comfort is my number one priority but I am willing to sacrifice a small amount of ride quality for the big aesthetic improvement of a small drop which has lead me to lowering springs. I've read a lot of people's thoughts on Tein S-Tech springs and the vast majority have said ride quality was practically identical to stock, just lower, which is exactly what I want (well no I would love greater handling with no comfort cost, but it seems like that's not possible!). "SKQ60-AUB00" S-Tech springs fit the 50 series V6 Camry which by my understanding is (internally) almost 100% identical to the 50 series Aurion? They advertise a 1.6 / 1.4 inch front / rear drop which seems to be the sweet spot for lowering before you start needing to spend your annual wage on camber kits and garbage like that. TL;DR if springs fit the 50 series V6 Camry will they fit the 50 series Aurion?
  4. G'day all, Thinking about buying an Ultra racing sway bar (which by the sounds of it should come standard with the car!). I could be wrong but I think the sway bar comes with new bushings to install? Are these fine to use or should I 'upgrade' to Superpro bushings instead? There's a guy near me that sells Superpro. I've been very hesitant with buying poly bushings because a lot of people say it ruins the ride (loud, harsh) but from what I understand the Ultra sway bar comes with poly bushings anyway? So should I just buy Superpro ones (presumably higher quality) to match? Worried about squeaking etc I've read on this forum and others I've already installed good tyres and with the sway bar I'm hoping to find any other handling improvement mods that do not ruin ride quality Cheers
  5. G'day all, Does anybody know the weight of the stock 16 inch wheels? You know, these boys: I've tried the forum search but come up with nothing, all the discussion is about 17/18 inch wheels. I tried asking the people at the local Toyota place and they looked at me as if I was insane, is there a specific department or something I could contact at Toyota? Cheers
  6. Update, spoke to Toyota, they said they can sell me a stock spoiler like the one in the photo above for $280-ish (not painted, they reckon it'll cost $350+ to get it painted ... ?), but it's "incompatible" with my car and will need to be taken to a panel beater to install (if it will fit at all). I drive a late 2013 XV50 Aurion, has there been a chassis refresh since the XV50? Why would the spoiler be incompatible with my car? I don't like the sound of "panel beating", wtf is the deal there?
  7. G'day all, Any idea if it's possible to get an aftermarket rear lip spoiler for the later XV50 model Aurion? Something like the stock Sportivo (pic from Wikipedia): I'm guessing Toyota won't sell me one since I'm only driving an AT-X model? So far I've only found one place that sells something similar for the 2012+ models and frankly it's crap, it has a gap for the Toyota emblem but sits half over the Aurion and the AT-X logos which looks ridiculous.
  8. G'day Seems a little bit quiet around these parts so I figure you all won't mind another post. Since I started driving my Aurion on a daily basis, it's like suddenly all I see are Aurions and Camrys that look literally identical (white is a very popular choice where I live apparently). Was at my mechanic's the other day and he said to go look in the carpark of the business just across the road, sure enough every car in their carpark was a white Aurion, carbon copy of mine! Went shopping the other day and actually pushed my trolley up to somebody else's car by mistake! I love the way the Aurion looks and I don't really have any desire to radically modify anything (that being said I'm open to suggestion, convince me otherwise!) but I'm wondering if any of you have made the effort to stand out from the crowd? What did you do? How hard was it? Any photos?
  9. Evening all, Been looking at the various threads discussing tyres and honestly I am overwhelmed. I've never really been too concerned about tyre brands/types until now. My Aurion is the first car I've owned that I actually want to drive. I bought my Aurion secondhand and while the tyres seem to be in okay condition they've done 50,000km and My concern is that there seems to be no objective metric for comparing various tyres. How am I supposed to make an informed choice? The one tyre that keeps popping up everywhere I look is the Bridgestone Potenza RE003 but I know this is a "performance" tyre, while I am mostly interested in quiet/comfort. I have seen a number of people talking about the Potenza series (and other "performance" tyres) losing their tread much faster than touring tyres. Compromise for their performance? While looking at the Bridgestone website I noticed they sell a Turanza series specifically designed for quiet and comfortable driving and right now they're offering 4 for 3 price on the Turanza Serenity Plus (I was quoted $170 per tyre or $510 all up for 4 tyres). I know it's all marketing hype but "serenity" is exactly what I'm looking for I guess. But how much will I compromise the handling of the car compared to a sportier tyre? How much more quiet / comfortable are they really compared to (for example) the Potenza series? It's a hefty car and can't help notice it is fairly sluggish to turn around corners. And this is just one manufacturer, what about other brands? I saw a recommendation for Toyo TEO Plus as a very quiet tyre, also saw a recommendation for Michelin Primacy LC. How are we supposed to know how these compare to the Bridgestone except to rely on people's subjective opinions? Does my head in!
  10. Thank you very much! Do you know if Ultra Racing Australia are still the recommended vendor? Any alternative brands with superior products? I'm not going to be doing any street racing but from what I can see this (relatively inexpensive) upgrade improves handling significantly so it seems like a no brainer? Or am I missing something? Thanks again, much appreciated.
  11. Good evening all, Recent owner of Toyota Aurion ATX (2013 GSV50 model). Can't say that I have noticed any issues so far but I stumbled on this forum while reading about the car and I notice there are a lot of posts about front/rear strut/sway bars for better handling, but all of comments seem to discuss the GSV40 model. I spent a long time searching the forum (and the internet in general) but I cannot seem to find an answer - does the GSV50 model still benefit from these upgrades? Are the GSV40 parts compatible with the GSV50 model? I see "Ultra Racing Australia" being discussed a lot but when I visited their website the section for GSV50 models is totally blank/empty which does not inspire confidence . . . Thanks!
