  7. Why ignore it ? You actually made a valid comment, all cars can be finessed & improved, the Aurion certainly could be made much better with lots of time & $$ thrown at it. TBH I would love to fine tune the Aurion with tasteful suspension & ECU fine tuning, even had a thought in the last few days about re-upholstering most of the leather facing to Alcantara as in my 86 for a no-slip all-grip feel but it all costs plenty $$$.
  8. The only leather experience I've ever had is with the steering wheels on my 86 & I used the Duragloss cleaner & conditioner. The cleaner does a rippa job and the conditioner also but with a slight sheen which I prefer not to have. I always wipe it down well with a MF afterwards which achieves a matt result. Soon I'll try the CarPro Cquartz Leather, I'm told it will leave the leather in the same condition after cleaning so we'll see how that goes. Main reason for use is long term UV protection, otherwise the Oakwood is something I'd be keen to try, I think it was @campbeam or @KAA that uses it also.
  9. BITOG has often commented on how good Mobile1 is especially in the USA where they supposedly also make Toyota's own TGMO 0W20 for 86 & BRZ which is extremely well regarded. Only problem with group 4 & 5 oils is their price otherwise they're the best all day long.

  11. Interesting that it has double the lifespan of your typical coating. On another note Tony have you used or know of a ceramic coating that's for dark/warm colours that may create a similar effect as a warm coloured wax ? I'm thinking Kamikaze or even Angelwax. Not looked into this lately, not for over a year at least. Cheers 🙂
  12. It's so easy to loose your license these days so what's the point ? They're not exactly the ideal motor to go punting down the Great Ocean Road @ high speed or the track even. The Aurion in particular is nose heavy. Like you said whitegoods . . . 😐
  13. ^^ Might be what @matt36415 was referring to earlier & I do recall similar remarks back then although I never took much notice as I've been a Celica & 86 owner most my life. It's not a very technical resolution to the problem & it does point to the ecu's learning ability 😕 Keep us posted please 😉 ps: I drive mostly like you & on fwy's so car rarely gets to do much work, I'm almost afraid to put my foot down for fear of loosing my licence, such is life living in the "Nanny State" 😐
  14. This on a GSV50R Presara? My 1st thought was body flex, then something loose needing tightening, then after watching clip it's perhaps slack trim fit. Looks like answer might be in the removal of headliner to properly isolate noise & dampen it with packing. Have you taken it to a Toyota dealer ? Fair chance they've seen/heard this before.
  15. Adam, I get exactly what you're saying, it's a lazy tune of the transmission, quite deliberate I would say as it needs to also satisfy the ES350 brigade. It's different with the 50series cars with the sports shift/steering wheel paddles. I haven't really played around with mine yet, haven't even read the Owners manual as I'm too lazy, but I know the car's attitude is different when in sports mode, ie: you select when you want the gears to engage, they happen quickly & I think the steering's more sensitive too.
  16. There would be no issues, all ecu's reset to default & car should be fine. You would loose saved DTC's, fuel trims as well as ATM learned data from usage, all of which the car would re-learn within a few hundred kms of driving.
  17. Good point, at worst all ecu's would reset & revert to default values for relearn, unless there's a fault. I'm not sure how these cars work but got a sneaking suspicion they're far more intelligent than we think. Not long ago I got a new battery (cos 30% off) & I unintentionally forgot to connect a backup battery so car wouldn't loose fuel trims yada yada. Battery was disconnected for several minutes & it lost nothing, not even radio data !
  18. @VeradaMan On second thought, if you haven't - don't do it ! This will also wipe DTC data stored for Toyota techs to analyse, best take it into a dealer & let them figure it out.
  19. @VeradaMan I had a thought a few hours ago when I last read your most recent post & thought throttle position - I wonder if accelerater pedal needs to be reset with comms to the throttle position sensor? This will also force the ecu to relearn pedal position as well as fuel trims & force the ATM ecu to relearn your driving style & shift points. Have you disconnected battery for several hours to reset engine ECU? Not sure how many you need at this moment but can find out when I get in front of my computer to see repair manual.
  20. I say Arthur, Repco are kicking a s s atm, especially if you are a Repco Ignition member. Thing is I don't need anything yet, perhaps in 4-6 months time :|

  22. Reason why I love DRL's ! I'm going to retofit some onto my Aurion one of these days. I'll do a writeup if it all pans out well.
