What happened there? seems like the shroud has fell of... I used JB Weld as well, works like a charm, perhaps not enough was applied? I probably used too much of it when i did it... Fogging, I get some minor fogging, but its not too significant, you may want to add more of those nissan seals. Btw, i didn't use the oven, I used a heat-gun, found it more convenient, or you could prep it by letting it sunbake for a few while, the glue then becomes soft and you can pry it out (carefully that is) YURO> i believe the gen 5.5 stock bulbs are the same as 5.0 (both low beams are the H4 dual filament type). Gen 6 is H7 to my knowledge...

That Black-coating makes it look very cool! just like the sportivo models i believe? Looking very cool, i thing i didn't do was retrofitting the indicators to LED or something, maybe you can do that in the future ... Regarding your question, the projector lens, that's how stock HID are supposed to be lit, uses the projector to disperse the light correctly on the road, forming a defined cutoff and wide spread of beam......so you don't any glare like headlights fitted with HID bulbs replacement kits.

JB Weld can be used to put the shrouds in place, not much is required as the shrouds are pretty light... I got mine from Kmart a while back, not sure if they still have them, but such a great thing to use... I think you've already used bolts/nuts for your projectors??

I noe they are h7s... as for valeo or not, am not sure... d2s!? i'm officially confused. so anywayz... mines an aug 06 camry (current shape).... the knowledgeable forum members might be able to tell me once and for all what type of stock projector head lights i got... please :( This is a D2S Bulb (these are the bulbs used in OEM HID Projectors) - but because if your car is not intended for HID, it will use a different bulb such as H7/H1/H4 etc, so people have re-based them so you can fit them in as well. If your headlight uses a H7 bulb, yes you can get those adaptors which makes a D2S bulb fit into a H7 Socket. Other than the bulb, you will need a place to fit the ballast (one on each side), i placed mine below the headlights which requires taking the headlights out (see below)

yeah gen 6... guess the easiest way is to get some white bulbs? any suggestions? Well the thing is if you have a stock halogen projector, it may be okay to use a HID Kit instead. (without doing any major modification). Although i've seen some people replacing their stock projectors (halogen type) with some proper HID projectors. With regards to HID kits, most re-based ones will not be genuine OEM brands (philips, osram etc). But they should be okay. Just got to find the right base for your car. I think its H7 for 2006 camry? Alternatively, you ca just get some white halogen bulb eg Philips Diamond vision are quite good but pricey.

2006 camry, is that gen 6? perhaps you can get away with using a halogen projector with a re-based HID Bulb. Not the best combination but would make the lights look a bit better. Otherwise, just get some brand name halogen if you really want to upgrade the lights..

Nah - mines nothing compared to the some at hidplanet. Mine's not fully perfect, but i couldn't be bothered fixing it up as it was sealed. Attached some pics, they're not as good on the camera for some reason! The ones shown here are the s2k projectors. The TSX ones aren't as wide in terms of output, but its still pretty good.

Its less the quality issue, but the different lens. A halogen projector has lens and its reflector bowl suited for a halogen bulb. whereas a HID projector has lens/reflector suited for a HID Bulb. In my opinion both types are .."illegal" like mine...even if you have a legit projector, it is not a part that comes standard for the car, plus there is no washer/leveling mechanism.. How much did your retro cost all up? Here's some ball park figures Spare set of headlights (aftermarket) 200, or 400 for genuine HID Ballast (philips/hella/denso brand names) - $100-200 HID Bulb (philips or osram) - $100 per pair Projectors: my 1st projector (called TSX, comes from an accord euro) costs about $130 2nd set (called s2k, comes from an s2000) costs about $300 Shrouds/Bezel (optional): These costs quite alot if you want superb one eg. BMW types (e46, used to be 90-100USD, now they are probably 150) Its just a bit of reflective plastic. But you could probably get something else to cover the projectors. so this part is variable. Misc: wires, relays, connectors, mounting materials, nuts/bolts etc... $20-30 and then there's the cutting/drilling work. Cheers. So if you smash your headlights, you are up the **** creek right? That is the main problem with retro fitting, if you damage them, its all back to square one again. That is true - but if you have two sets of headlights,... it doesn't always have to be so bad...

Have any photos? What do the LEDs look like? Or are they actual bulbs? I have felt the AC panel before, and it feels too warm to be LEDs, so you might be in luck that you won't need to do any SMD LED Soldering..

Ok when i get a chance, i'll take a photo. Just hope that the wires are the same on the Gen6. Do you have a multimeter? You can just get the harness behind the key insert and measure the voltage of each socket until you find one that gives you 12VDC when the door is open.

I used the ring illumination wire, just find it from the connector. Alternatively, you can use the one that powers the interior center light. some pics: (this is a gen5 though, but should be similar)
