Hi I have a 2000 AE112 Corolla that's having problems with acceleration. On cold start up it sits below 500rpm for few seconds and almost stalls. Then it goes to normal idle rpm. When I drive the car, it has hardly any power until it hits 2000rpm. I flat foot it and hardly moves and jumps like it wants to go more but can't. After 2000rpm everything works fine. I cleaned carbon buildup from inside the throttle body and it didn't change anything. Does anyone else have any ideas what I should be fixing?

Thanks for your response. What can I do about it? How do I find out how bad it is and if it's still fixable? What specific part/s should I be looking at that would point to the rattling noise or any other signs of damage done?

Thanks for responding. I changed youtube video from private to public maybe that was the problem sorry. I hadn't checked or changed oil in a while so there is no oil in the engine, at least it's not reading on the dipstick. Although, I don't think that's the reason that the oil light kept flickering because it still happened when I did put some oil in a 6 months back and continued to do so since then. But I would think that it's something higher in the engine that would first be affected by low oil level. Could it be the timing chain causing the rattling noise? Or maybe loose tensioner? is it even possible for the car to run with a loose timing chain?

Hi, I own a ae112 2000 Toyota Corolla and recently it started making a rattling noise (see video). I haven't changed the oil in about 6 months and have done over 5000kms since then so it must be a oil issue. Since I last changed the oil (Sep 2017) the oil light kept coming on, it flickers when it comes on. It makes the noise more prominently when I change gears while driving.
