  1. I got it fixed at a panel repairer. Works fine now.
  2. I’m taking it to a repairer in the morning.
  3. It’s in an awkward position. Should I use sticky tape or something to position it?
  4. Hi. I have a 2018 Camry SL, 4 cylinder automatic. Today, the rear left proximity sensor started to constantly make the sound while I'm in reverse. It's displaying the red icon in my dashboard. Could it be something that needs cleaning off the sensor? How can I find the sensor? If I need a repair, how much might it cost? I'm in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Also, would the other sensors work normally in the meantime? EDIT: I notice some circular disk-like plug in the left of the rear bumper bar is loose and sitting slightly inside the bumper bar. Is that related? Thanks.
  5. I have a 2018 Camry SL 4 cylinder, which I bought new from a Toyota dealer. For the first five years it was serviced once a year by the Toyota dealer, under capped price servicing. Now, after the five years is up, it is no longer under capped price servicing and it will be changed to twice a year. Is it normal for the servicing, after the first five years, to be done twice a year by the dealer? Or would a different Toyota dealership still do it once a year? My 2018 Camry SL has done 31,822 km. I once asked somebody if it would be cheaper to get it serviced at Ultratune but I was told it's safer for warranty issues to have it done by the dealer. Is that true? My last service, under capped price servicing, was $195 and my next service is expected to be $763.
  6. Hi. I don't know what this looks like as I haven't seen it yet. I have had my electronic key batteries replaced before they got really flat. I just want to know what the alert in the dashboard looks like so I know what to look out for. If anybody has a picture or can point to a web page that shows this I'd be interested to see it. Thanks.
  7. I normally buy my petrol (95 RON) from either Caltex or Mobil. I’ve never bought petrol from Costco, although I did recently get Costco membership. Admittedly, the queues of cars I’ve seen going into the Costco fuel station seem really massive. I don’t know if I’d have the patience. Maybe I should just save money by not buying so many coffees?
  8. I’ve realised the title of my thread is no longer accurate. I’ve owned my Camry for about 14 months now and it’s done less than 12,000 kilometers.
  9. It’s good for my needs. It’s something you’d need to decide for yourself with a test drive.
  10. It's quite simply the best car I've ever owned. It might have a couple of niggles, but every car has those. The lid for the storage between the 2 front seats opens in a awkward manner, but you get used to it. It doesn't have Apple Carplay but I'm OK with that. I'm yet to find out when the subscription for the Navigation starts needing to be paid. I just have to remember to chase that up with Toyota. I must remember to see about getting the Maps updated, there's been the odd occasion when the Navigation has given me strange directions. But, really, I've got no real complaints.
  11. A 2018 Camry SL 4 cylinder with a petrol engine and 6 speed auto.
  12. I spoke to my dealer and they said any of these iPhones will work fine with my car.
  13. I'm about to upgrade my iPhone 7 and I haven't decided between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone XR (or maybe the iPhone XS). I just want to make sure whichever one I get will work OK with my wireless charging and connect OK with the entertainment and everything else. Thanks.
  14. It's not always possible to increase speed or change lanes.
  15. I've got a small chip on the edge of each of my front doors. No signs of rust. I bought a small bottle of touch up paint from the Toyota dealer. I was told to just clean the spots with a wet cloth and then to dry them before applying the paint. Are their good videos on how best to apply the paint? I have a small bottle. I don't know if it has a brush applicator in the bottle. It says it takes 24 hours to dry. Does that mean I can't drive my car for that long? I've attached a photo of the paint bottle Thanks.
  16. I have driven automatics before I bought my Camry. But that was years ago and until this car I've only owned manuals. I'm showing my ignorance about automatics here. How smooth or otherwise would automatics in other current models of cars be compared to the six speed automatic Camry? I have a 4 cylinder 2.5 litre 2018 Camry. I'm still getting used to what seems like a gear change where it revs up somewhat at around the 70 kmh mark. I won't mind if somebody tells me the automatic transmissions in the Mazdas or Hondas are smoother (i.e. the non-CVTs) as I wouldn't have bought either of those cars for other reasons anyway. I mean, I feel suspicious of Mazda's iStop (I don't want the car to decide for itself to stop the engine) and Honda was just too expensive for my budget, plus Toyota has the reliability I need. Thanks.
  17. My friend is looking at a Hyundai i30 non manual and I notice the cheapest non manual i30 has a DCT. I’ve never driven a car with DCT. Are they just as reliable as an automatic if you keep the car serviced regularly? Could they be more expensive to maintain in the long run? Thanks EDIT: My friend has changed his mind. He’s now interested in a car with a CVT.
  18. Both my friend and I are in our mid 50s, so “long term” is a definite possibility. I’ll put that to him and see what he thinks. Thanks.
  19. Thanks Hiro. I got confused about the size comparison. I might just get my friend a brochure on the Yaris but ultimately I’ll have to let it go and respect his decision.
  20. My friend is about 1.8 meters tall. Would the current model Yaris be about the same size as an i30, or would it be smaller? He’s currently got a Hyundai Getz, so he’s used to small cars. I could suggest he compare the two but it’s really up to him. He wants to buy an automatic. I don’t know how that would affect each choice of car.
  21. I understand the Camrys in the US have some 360 degree view in the multimedia screen, presumably from combination of sensors, which helps with parking. I can see how that would be very useful.
  22. I figured it out. I went into Setup, Navigation, Favourites. Then I’ll saw the options to edit and delete.
  23. I checked the manual and it says to click on "Edit". But I can't find the word "Edit" when I'm in the Favourites list. Thanks.
  24. I've been using Caltex 95 RON for my Camry. The myToyota app gives me a small discount at Caltex. But I'm not sure I'm getting the best fuel economy. But, from memory, a mechanic I once spoke too said BP Ultimate was found to be the best followed by Shell. I think he mentioned a third brand, but I forget what it was. Thanks.
