  1. Well, it's now 2023 and I still have that parking sensor kit in my garage. Been too busy with other projects and I didn't want to void the car's warranty. Now the car is out of warranty (I think) I might revisit fitting the kit.
  2. Hi all, I will be going away for around 10 weeks next year over the colder months and intend driving to Sydney Airport and leaving my SL in long stay airport parking. I think this model (2019) has NiMH batteries? As normal NiMH batteries slowly self discharge over time is it advisable to leave the car parked for that long? I believe that Toyota has software in the car to compensate for that but I'm concerned that I might have problems when I get back. Will that long time have any bad effects on the battery? Thanks.
  3. Hi All, I have a 2019 Camry Hybrid SL. Reverse camera is great but I need a camera on the front, the sensors there are useless as they don't sense directly to the front - mostly to the sides and only start screaming when the car's front is all but touching the wall. I would love to fit a camera to the front, has anyone done that? Thanks, Davo.
  4. $300?? Holy cow! No, I didn't download it I put the hard word on the local dealer at last year's service and demanded they do it free - which they did, the next service(!) after faffing around for months, quoting staff shortages due to Covid and then they stuffed it up the first time. Anyone would think it's akin to rocket science!
  5. Thanks - that's before you have the service I guess. Where did you get that info from, I spent 20 minutes going through every available setting on my car's screen and couldn't find anything like that. All I could see is Audio 1600 12/6/20, Audio 1499 12/6/20, Navigation 1530 12/6/20. I think the 1600 etc refer to the times the updates were done on that date. If I go to Current I see Audio 1600, Nav 1530. I also see Model ID DCU 19TDT20C - EAPA and Model ID MEU 19TMT20C - EA02. I don't have a clue what any of all the above info means.
  6. Thanks for reply, Chris. Bit of a bummer, Toyota seems to want to keep us in the dark?🤔 Let us know what they say when you take it in for its service, see if you can find out what level your software/map is at.
  7. Hi all, I have a three year old Camry Hybrid, very happy with it but the maps are out of date. The dealer updated them about 18 months ago on a service but I've noticed that they aren't anywhere up to date as the SatNav apps I have on my iPhone. I know I can contact the dealer to ask but is there any other way to find out what the latest version of maps is and cost? Can we DIY? Thanks, Davo.
  8. Hybrid SL, very nice, and goes well when you give it some wellie. Overall I'm very happy with the car but the front parking sensors are pretty crap - they are right on the corners and don't sense what's in front until it's very nearly too late! 🤯
  9. I'd be very interested in getting Apple Car Play on mine, I very nearly didn't buy the Camry because it didn't have that - glad I did buy though as the car is excellent in every other way and I figured they would make it available later. Do you have an approximate time frame for it? Thanks. 👍
  10. Hi, I have a new 2019 model and the battery indication is the same as yours, so it seems that's normal. Cheers, Davo.
  11. An update to my o.p. I asked the service guys to check out my front sensors when I took the car in for its first service, they said they were the same as another Hybrid SL they had in at the same time. That didn't answer my concerns though. Anyway, I've been looking at aftermarket sensors for the front - eBay list some good ones for low prices, I bought a four sensor setup for $18.95 and hooked them up in my garage to test them - they work well, only two are needed to give reliable and accurate warning. Now I just need to get enough courage to pull the front of the car to bits to fit them, I know where I'm going to put the two but the LED and buzzer display might be a bit awkward to place in the cabin.
  12. No, the only adjustment is to the volume of the sensors 'buzzer', there are three volume levels to choose from. I have it set to the highest level (loudest) but even that is pretty weak, needs to be much louder in my opinion.
  13. Hi All, The front parking sensors on my 2019 Camry Hybrid SL are just about useless! I find that even if I creep up very slowly to something the sensors take an age to react and then only if they can see something at a very oblique angle, i.e., not directly in front of the car. It does say in the owners handbook that there is a delay before they react, but really... 🤯 I haven't had reason to try the reversing sensors much but at least they point more towards the rear of the car, not angled to the sides like the front, but even so there is that stupid delay and they don't act until I am very close to anything. Overall I am very happy with my new car but those front 'sensors' drive me batty because the front of the car sticks out well past where the sensors pick up any obstacles, so if I park nose up to a plain brick wall I don't get any warning. I'm worried that I'm going to damage the front even though I'm paranoid about being careful, it's very hard to gauge where the front is from the driver's seat. Is this all normal?? Is there any adjustment for the stupid things?? Has anyone added any after-market front sensors to their SL Hybrid? 🤔 Cheers, D.
