  1. Hi there, It's time to upgrade my 2003 Sahara suspension, the past couple of trips with the back loaded or camper on the back has resulted in the rear hitting the bump stops on the highway when going over dips in the road. The vehicle has a full alloy basket roof rack with 270 awning and box of recovery gear on the back, so a constant 100kg load. Then when I go away camping the rear of vehicle is loaded with Engle fridge and other stuff. We have just bought a 2003 Jayco Heritage 18ft semi off-road van so I'm look to upgrade the LC's suspension to suit. The most "off-road" we do is getting into some of the beaches around Strathmerton on the Murray River (Ulupna Island) as well as tracks around the Vic Triangle when prospecting, so nothing to serious but it's more the weight than travel clearance that need to address.
  2. G'day Willyv, I can't help with the converter query but my 2003 V8 Sahara also changes down a gear same as you describe, I'm pretty confident it's normal and my Renault Master van also does the same thing, it would be engine braking to save having to ride the braked down hill.
  3. Hi everyone, I've owned our 2003 LC100 Sahara for 2.5 years now after previously owning a 2001 4.2 Diesel ute, 1988 Troopy 2H and 60 series 2H. Loved my Diesel Cruisers and they have been weekend camping vehicles only. After the wife complained about the lack of space in the front of the ute when getting away with the 2 Jack Russells it was time to change, so I decided I was getting lazy and wanted auto with V8 power and not fussed about the economy as it's only a weekend camping/prospecting/tow vehicle and couldn't be happier. I'll be looking at suspension upgrades shortly mainly for the rear as it suffers from sag when towing but trying to maintain the comfort when not towing, our off road is mainly dirt tracks and mild 4x4 rutted sections only as our fun is being camped in the Vic goldfields, Alpine areas up past Walhalla and camping along the Murray River, all off grid and self sufficient camping.
