  1. My last car was a 2001 Corolla...I had it for 18 yrs and had 190,000 km when traded in. The car had an oil change and service every 6 mths and never had any engine problems. I don't feel sorry for the person who bought the RAV4 because you should always get an NRMA inspection when buying a used car...it would be much cheaper than a new engine. 😱
  2. If the answer is no...then you'll end up like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_VPHLrip9Q How could anyone be this stupid. 😡 To totally neglect looking after this car is just unbelievable and try to sell it to some unsuspecting buyer is criminal. 😭 The RAV4 shown came with a 5 year warranty as did my car...guess which one's warranty is now void. 😝 My car is 3 years old and has done 18500 km...it's now had 3 services and 6 oil changes (one every 6 mths) and a Logbook to prove it but that's me.
  3. I would say...your local Toyota Dealership as they are the only ones authorized to update software.

I went to Bunnings and got a roll of Rubber Matting back in 2020 was then $60 and cut to fit...I'm sure it's cheaper than Toyota. https://www.bunnings.com.au/matpro-1-x-2m-black-diy-rubber-pre-pack-fine-rib-matting_p6621135
  5. Are you an authorised repairer...if not then do so at your own risk.
  6. Back in 2019...I did a lot of research on Petrol vs Hybrid that's why I bought a Petrol Camry. The Hybrid battery that sits across the back seat costs many thousands to replace...Toyota gives you a 5 year warranty...10 years it you service the car with Toyota. After that you pay...your car wont be worth much in 10 years. If the Hybrid battery dies...you can't jump start it. The Electric motor that runs the system also costs heaps to replace...replacing the brakes cost thousands to replace...Hybrids cost thousands more to buy. Toyota says you only use 4.6 lts per 100 kms but you must use 95 octane or higher and there's the cost of the Hybrid battery replacement...so where's the saving.
  7. Just a thought...is your car still under warranty because doing anything yourself could void that warranty...is it worth it ?
  8. Oil change yesterday and everything is good. I average about 6000 kms per year...I do a lot of short trips...so it's even more important to do frequent oil changes. AMD says every 8000 kms (5000 mls) or every 6 mths...I change mine every 3000 kms...my Engine will last for ever.
  9. I forgot to mention...when I asked for an oil change...I was asked do you want an oil filter too ? I should have said...why do you think it's called an oil filter but what can you expect from a paper shuffling pencil pusher. Back in Jan 2020 when I was looking for my new car...I rang one Toyota Dealer and asked if they had the new Camry...I was asked...Sedan or Hatch. In the video he said he charges $120 for the oil change...Dealer is going to charge me $250. Imagine how much it would cost to re-build the Engine here...as they say...oil is cheap...Engines much more.
  10. My last car was a 2001 Corolla...had it for 18 yrs...it had a oil change every 6 mths and when I traded it in...it had 190,000 kms..no oil burning and no work ever done on the engine. Next Tuesday my Camry goes in for it's 6mth oil change...being the 5th one since Jan 2020 and have done 15,600kms. When I rang the Toyota Dealership...I was told you don't need an oil change every 6mths because new cars only need one every 12mths and went on about engine blocks and new oils etc etc. I said I want one every 6mths...I was told...you must be old school...I said yeah that's right...maybe they should watch the video.
  11. Hyundai and Kia Engines blow up. https://9now.nine.com.au/today/hyundai-kia-models-recalled-due-to-engine-faults/82c19328-109f-4dc4-bd1d-0554b64d3942 Imagine driving down the freeway and the engine seizes or catches fire at 100km in your new Hyundai and Kia.
  12. I saw this and was going to post it. My toyota dealer told me my car isn't affected...we'll see.
  13. I really feel sorry for people wanting to buy a new car being told you have to wait 12 to 18 mths and have to put down a deposit too.
  14. I'm still very happy driving my petrol Camry with 91 octain...especially now petrol is over $2 per Lt. I've never owned a bike or would I want to these days...it's dangerous enough driving a car with all the morons on our roads who just don't give a stuff.
  15. Just saw this... https://www.drive.com.au/news/toyota-owners-call-for-peeling-paint-fix/ What a bloody joke I've got a white Camry...I wonder when the paint will start to peel off. Toyota has know about this for a long time...yet does nothing and it's not just white cars either...make you sick.
  16. Towards the end of 2019 when I was looking to buy a new car, I did research the Petrol vs Hybrid thing and here's what I found... 1. Hybrids are more expensive to buy. 2. You must use 95 octane or higher fuel. 3. You can't jump start a Hybrid...battery's dead so is the car. 4. The Hybrid battery cost many thousands of dollars to replace...Toyota gives you a 5 year warranty and another 5 years if you have the car serviced with Toyota but in 5 to10 years time your car wont be worth a lot of money and you still have that huge battery replace cost hanging over your head. Toyota claim my Camry gets 6.8 L/100 km but that's BS...I'm not a lead foot and drive normally and get at the moment 11.6 L/100km according to the cars computer with 91 octane...have used 95 octane but makes no difference. All that money you're saving in petrol cost with that Hybrid can go towards that replacement battery or that Electric Hybrid motor which isn't cheap either...good luck.
  17. I found this on youtube, it's from the USA but I'm sure it happens here too. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=just+rolled+in+youtube It's unbelievable how some people treat their cars and how dangerous too.
  18. Only a fool would drive without insurance. I've always had comprehensive cover, even on my old Corolla for 18 years because if some retard who isn't insured hit me...I loose. What I find very strange, only Green Slips are compulsory in Australia...you don't have to insure your car...what a bloody joke. https://www.ratecity.com.au/car-insurance/articles/car-insurance-compulsory-australia My Camry was fully insured (comprehensive) two days before I drove it home...it's just not worth the risk...not because I'm a fantastic driver...it's because of all the idiots on the road. Here's why you should have car insurance and a Dash Cam. https://www.youtube.com/user/DashCamOwnersAustral
  19. Thanks guys for your comments, yes car dealers are there to make money not friends.
  20. Hi Guys, You'll remember I was very stupid and took my car to motorserve rip-offs for my first service about a year ago and was charged for an engine oil flush, which was a total rip-off. Well for the second service I went to Penrith Toyota where I purchased the car and where I should have gone in the first place...stupid me. They did a very good job and didn't take that long...second service is two years or 30,000kms or which ever comes first. I've only got 12,500kms on the clock, so nothing needed fixing...no "engine oil flush" here and you can't beat the capped price service either. What impressed me was they sent me a video of the condition of my brakes and tyres, never seen this before. The oil Toyota use is OW30 c2 Magnatec Professional, I'll have the oil changed in 6mths time rather than every 12mths. At Penrith Toyota they service both Toyota and Kia cars under the same roof...haven't seen that before. I didn't know Toyota doesn't sell touch up paint anymore and haven't for five years, that's not good. One last thing, when I got home I looked at the service invoice and noticed my state is South Australia WTF...Ive never been there. I have a NSW Address...Post Code and Drivers License and the car is Registered in NSW. My service book and car's paper work says SA...I did see this some time ago but thought it was a code of some type...how can they put the wrong state on paper work...I can't believe some retard in sales doesn't know what state they're in.
  21. Hi Guys, Here's the follow up to that video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9tDkWrsXuk&ab_channel=AutoExpertJohnCadogan Apart from their S-box cars, I wont buy anything chinese and that includes phones or TVs.
  22. Well guys I've now owned my Camry for 18 mths, what do I think of it ? Best car I've owned and have had zero problems but that's what you expect when you buy a Toyota. It's very smooth and a pleasure to drive, it's not a DIY car but what car is these days. The best feature is the reversing camera IMO, no more trying to look out the rear window. We're told by both Scottie and the Car Care Nut Guy not to fill your Petrol tank to the top. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPiiqcDxDxY Well I finally worked it out...when I get to three quarters empty, I put in 35 lts which gives me just under a full tank.
  23. Here's a brand I wouldn't buy...you be the judge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71DVmTYiq-4&ab_channel=AutoExpertJohnCadogan
  24. A few years ago I tried E10 in my 2001 Corolla, seemed to run ok but used more than 91 or 95 octane over the same distance...so I never used it again. You might want to look at this... https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/can-i-run-my-car-on-e10-fuel-18405 Hope this helps.
