  1. I finally got this fixed last week. Toyota dealers wanted $450 ~ $500 So I got it done at one of those frachise shop for $350. It caused me a lot of grief due to non genuine part. But of course the workshop copped all the re-work cost. Insist on genuine part.
  2. The last wheel balancing was about 25k ago. Since I don't feel any unusual vibration I reckon better start looking around for wheel bearing price. Most certainly my usual dealer will try to rip me off. Great this post provided a benchmark on price.
  3. I noticed this as well ! I have climate control and sometimes it goes like this, Left vent cold, middle left vent warm, middle right vent cold, right vent cold. Do you have climate control ?
  4. My 07 Aurion with 62k is also beginning to have whirling noise from the left front. It goes nosier as the speed goes up. Before sending it in for wheel bearings check, just wondering if it is necessary to do wheel balancing first ? I'm not experiencing any unusual vibration, just this silly noise.
  5. How old is the battery ? Does it sound weak cranking ? After 4 weeks of usage if it still cannot hold full charge it has probably degraded and can never be fully charged again. Time to get rid of it. Otherwise it could be a alternator issue but any decent battery shop will test this first before recommend a battery change.
  6. Hmm... now that you guys mention this, I remember it happen to my car once, and only once. Start -> rattle -> shutdown -> start again -> no rattle At that time it was a cold winter morning, and the battery was end of life weak.
  7. I eventually settled for Chadstone at $820 I find them to be a bit more untidy than my usual shop, grease prints all over engine cover and every bottle under the bonnet.
  8. Guys, Any recommendation which dealer can do 90K at a "reasonable" price in Melbourne south east ? I called up 3 dealers and I almost choked. $935 $950 $980 Thanks.

  11. It's probably busted. I had to replace 3 of these lousy 6cd units during warranty. 1st one - Similar error code on screen 2nd and 3rd - white led backlight intermittent fault You're better off replacing with a non Toyota GPS unit.
  12. Received the letter from Toyota mid Nov last year. Can't be bothered to bring it in yet. It can wait until next service.
  13. Apologies if my terminology is unclear, but it really does sound like the TS's issue. ---------------------------------------------- It's also only when it's cold. Like first thing in the morning or after work if I don't go anywhere on my lunch break. I can go to the shops for an hour and it's fine. Or drop the kids off at daycare and it's fine. So it's not every single time I start the car. -----------------------------------------------
  14. Is white smoke on cold startups that much of a big deal ? 3 guys leaving the office at 3am on a 5 degree morning, a Commodore, a Lancer and my Aurion. All 3 blowing white smoke like crazy.
  15. How on earth did you do 72K on those Dunlop 300E ? I gave them up at 40K when they slip around in the wet too much. I use Michelin Primacy now.
  16. Moving forward do you reckon should I follow KM or Year ? Next year will be another issue. The difference between 60K and 6yrs is a lot.
  17. Hi, I have a under-utilised Yaris 1.5 which I don't know which service to send it. In terms of mileage, I should be sending it for 50k. But in terms of age it will be 5 yrs. So I'm not sure to follow mileage or age. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Regards.
  18. From past experience, the chrome bit above the fog light is not sprayable.
  19. I have been looking for somewhere in Mel to install auto rear sunshade. Appreciate if anyone has any suggestions.
  20. I have Michelin Primacy LC on my Aurion as well. It's much quieter than the Dunlop 300E. Now just hope they last longer than the Dunlops, which I gave up after 37K when they start to lose traction in the wet.
  21. Thanks for the replies. It looks interesting enough to try, but probably I won't have enough patience to hang on until 1000km.
  22. Just wondering is there any point on using V-power for a Yaris 1.5 YRS ? Regards.
  23. My 3 month old Autome unit hasn't got any unusual sound yet, and it's cold in Mel. Can someone eject the disc and confirm is the noise from the fan or the disc.
  24. I'm glad the rule is bring enforced in NSW. Over here in VIC most idiot drivers have their fog lights not giving a damn that it's blinding to the opposite driver and nobody ever seems to be fined.
