Mine has always worked as yours now works, never as in second paragraph on page 139

were you holding the negative speed stork down without letting it up while traveling down hill? No (manual braking to reduce speed if you have to) The down hill assist function only works below 25km/h in low or reverse when the DAC is switched on

Hi Buffhamster No mistake, i probably haven't described the action to well though. On the V6 Ravs fitted with Stability control they have a system which can decrease the speed of the vehicle by way of "Brake operation" as the Toyota Owners manual puts it. Page 139.... Resetting cruise speed! When the Cruise Control Stork is held down in the Negative postion the vehicle will slow down even when proceeding down a steep hill. There is also a Vacuum sound from underneath the bonnet which l'm told is the ABS module oprating to activate the braking. Toyota technicians didnt believe me until they were experienced it themselves in another model. The long and short of it however is, Toyota Australia still maintain there vehicles do not brake on cruise control and never have even though my vehicle use to act in this manner and it even says so in black and white in there owners manual. And in ever other manual l have seen. The funny thing is Toyota are now being very careful in there response as they are still unable to tell me exactly how the system works. This does not really surprise me. I suspect the ABS module is faultly, being computer operated this is the only device that could control this feature. If anyone can verify this action in a 2008 model V6 i would love to hear from you. I've had a zr6 since new 2008 and it's never braked to decrease speed when on cruise, going down hill it just speeds up then slows on the flat.

Word of caution the brackets for the top on the V6 are different for the 4 cyl

The reason being is that the third generation Rav's run led tail lights which cannot take the kind of current drawn by conventional trailer lights, hence a harness with a "trailer control module" is required to intercept a harness at the front of the cabin In regards to the factory toyota hitch - it's definitely a 2 man job and about half a days worth of work there are reinforcement brackets that get bolted in a multi-tude of places allowing the car to tow 1900kg worth (the box is ridiculously heavy - make sure you have someone to help you get this in and out of the car if you decide to purchase it, i can't remember how i managed to get it out by myself) The instructions should be easy enough to follow, the hard part is cutting your bumper to allow the hitch receptacle to protrude - I did this with a dremel which made this much easier - (it's just something that feels weird to do) If you do decide to DIY make sure you have all the required tools, including a torque wrench Price wise it was actually pretty decent - i think all up it was roughly around 600 inc harness and ball about a yr ago when cutting the bumper don't cut the two outer cuts it's not necessary (for the brackets) other wise its a easy job

Hi, I've got a ZR6 2008. the other day I had to ride in the back seat and found that if the seat belt was fully pulled out and fitted on me, it sounded like a ratchet spanner being spun around when the belt retracted in, but it was impossible to pull the belt back out it just got tighter and tighter the only way to pull it out was to release the belt buckle and let the belt fully retract then it work as it normal until it was pulled out again. It's the same with both rear seat belts. Has anyone else got the with there seat belts in the rear. Taking it in to Toyota to have them checked out.

Thanks sportivo's must be few and far between only seen about 4 down south and it looks like the dealers don't know how to maintain them. I can see why they are not more numerous. Waiting for the dealers head mechanic to get back to me may be he will be able to help

Hi all This is my first post but have followed the forum for a time since buying a sportivo (2004 year) not knowing what I was getting into, was looking to buy a small corolla for my partner after the camry was written off. That's the back ground so my problem is like a few others have had LIFT ok took it back to my dealer service manager <_< says not to rev it to high his feelings are that 4000 rpm is the max So any SA members know a good dealer that can fix it. :) thanks
