  1. Hey Andrew My Toyota dealer offered to install a roof mounted dvd player into our (Merlot) KX-S, I think he recommend a Pioneer system, that way he said the boys in the workshop could connect it all correctly, the unit was around $700. I elected instead for a system which has 2 removable screens on the back of the front headrests, has headphones or speakers for $250, works a treat and there was no need to muck around with the roof lining/electrics etc. Bad news on your PS2, you need a 400w inverter to run (if its the thin version) which will need to be hard wired to your battery. For some reason the older bigger version only needs a 300w inverter which the cigarette lighter should handle. The guys at Jaycar did caution me by saying that they have had mixed success running Ps2's in cars, by "mixed" they mean they have blown a couple up (the PS2 not the car)!!!, so be careful. I'm not a sparky so there maybe someone else on here who could provide you with some more advise. Cheers, Mark
  2. Just did a trip from Adelaide to Portsea (where we stayed for 8 days) and return, with wife and 3 kids on board, cruised around the Dandenongs and several trips into Melbourne CBD. Did around 2,500km, some off bitumen (some big hills) and averaged 10.4l/100 for the whole trip. The car was faultless, quiet, the seats comfy and I now believe the Kluger is in its element cruising the highways of Australia. Cheers, Mark
  3. Iwantone, my wife has a Territory, the huge list of negatives outweigh the fairly decent middle rear pew, ...you made the right decision.
  4. The 6 speed auto in my previous Presara was so smooth I could'nt tell what gear it was in. Given its the same engine as the Kluger surely they could drop the 6 speed into the Kluger.
  5. Toyota certainly put all their effort into the outer two seats which are great, the middle rear is certainly not brilliant, but it generally never is in vehicles. We have 3 kids seats accross the middle seat (baby, toddler and booster) and it can be a little difficult in securing the middile seat belt as it tends to be under the kids seat which is wider than the middle pew, particualrly when our kids wont sit still!!!. But we manage and the massive list of positives on the Kluger outweighs this small issue. Cheers, Mark
  6. Recalls are not an accurate way of gauging the quality of a vehicle manufacturer. The recalls that Toyota have done have centred around "non critical items" for example a recent one last year for 2000 Camry (yes 8 years old) as the head light seal "may leak" and cause either condensation or at worst an electrical fault. Holden dosent do recalls unless its serious. What about the faults I have had with my 2 VE's and the rest in the large fleet I manage at work like: - constant computer failures where the car just shuts down (sometimes in the middle of now where), - more rattles than a can or marbles been shaken, - electric windows falling into doors, - back window blowing out at speed (is this the first time Holden have installed a window!!?), - instruments not working, - centre screen failures The list is endless and these items are not recalled, instead the end consumer cops the inconvenience of having repairs done when an issue occurs. So recalls are not an accruate statistical way of measuring quality, feedback from the industry and forums such as this are a good starting place.
  7. Like PaulE I too go through cars fairly quick, over the last 2 years I've had VZ Calais, 2 VE Calais V's (one was so bad Holden took it back), the replacement was falling apart on delivery. The Presara was sensational and I now have a Kluger....I will never buy a Holden ever again....Toyotas do everything they are built to do. Interestingly the Holden dealer did comment to me upon one of my many visits, that Holden could "put a Holden badge on a piece of sh*^ and people would buy it"... When I would complain about the issues with the VE to the service department the standard response usually was "they all do that"....WTF!!!! Cheers

I get my merlot Kluger on Friday (just getting out of a Presara, another baby due!), I think it looks great with the alloys and dark tint. How was the Captiva experience shecskter?
  9. I agree with DJKOR, Toyota will not honour the warranty if they believe the leak is due to owner's mods, only if the fault is with the manufacture of the car.
  10. Enjoy mate, mine has just turned one, and I'm still loving it!!
  11. Thats funny!! Has'nt happened to me, but I did try to order a pizza to my exact position given the boys and girls at the call centre know exactly where I am. I was told while technically possible they were not allowed too...... :)
  12. Its the automatic choke, perfectly normal, without it your car would'nt start in the cold.
  13. Not sure why you would want to do that, would'nt it be distracting?
  14. On the open road 8's around town 10's to 12's depends on the traffic, as the average uses time as part of the calculation, sitting still in traffic dosent help. Cheers
  15. Everything rattles in a Holden, they are designed that way, its the step before the plastic bits start to break...I've had 2 VE Calais V Series...absolute crap both of them.....DONT DO IT you have been warned... Toyota owners have a good product. Cheers
  16. Mine works in tunnels, the only issue I've had is when the car has been in the sun on extremly hot days, the red light comes on. Cheers
  17. Good timing Robert, I had 3km's left on my trip computer this morning before I filled up my Presara, it only took 60 litres...go figure...Toyota Conservatism once again I think..better to be on the safe side I guess, at least the gauge works unlike my VE Calais V heap of crap I once owned ...
  18. Mate the unit comes straight out of any Lexus you care to try, the Toyota boys are essentially covering the backsides in case you have a prang while driving. It takes one second to press "I Agree".... I have found there is no need for an iPod adaptor given that the cd player reads mpeg3 anyway, literally hours and hours and hours of music available straight off the disc.
  19. Congrats Beaves, wise move. I had a VE Calais V, a bucket of snot that was falling apart when it was delivered to me, needless to say, I now have an Aurion and could'nt be happier. Cheers :D
  20. I understand tge system is from Lexus and is the latest. I have a i-mate K-Jam, which connected instantly...if that helps. Enjoy your new ride..........wise decision! Chhers, Mark
  21. You system was in "Service mode" according to the manual, it should have been off, activation is up to the individual driver, but while you get 3 years free subsription why not use it. Its a cool system, I often log onto the website when my car is used at work by other staff, the satelite pin points where the car is and gives me a map with its location. The call centre crew are very helpful, even helped me when my sat nav could'nt find a street I was after. I even asked if they could send a pizza to my location (given they know exactly where I am). The response was "technically yes, but on this occasion sorry..." Cheers, Mark
  22. Mate, dont know if you still have an issue (I have'nt logged on for a while), but beeps from the L/H/R speaker relate to the Toyota Link system. Check the small LED next to toyota link switch, it should be green with the ignition on. If its red, you're not linked properly, call their call centre 1300 887 568 they can run tests while you wait... Cheers, Mark
  23. If all else fails, offer to take a demo off their hands, they are usually fully loaded with options. Mark
