  1. Thanks superdave! Looks like I will be getting them wheels :D
  2. does it sit significantly deeper in the guard than the oem wheels? what is the best offset to go for in wheels of that size ~ 15x6
  3. Found these wheels that looked really mint. Its the size that I am looking for as well - 15x6.5 but the offset is 48. Will this fit on my corolla zze123? whats the opinion out there??
  4. That HD exedy one is the clutch that most people here are using so its good. I have no experience with the american clutches though.
  5. I got the front hubs from a 1zz celica (Celica gt) and it has ABS. So the rear hubs have ABS sensors as well in 2004 corolla sportivo?
  6. Hey guys, I am in the process of changing the corolla stud pattern to 5x100 and I have got the front hubs from the zzt231 already. The front brake hubs with ABS sensor built into them but do the rear also have ABS sensors? If there are ABS sensors for the rear hubs then what year celica zzt231 would have them? Thanks heaps. Will be updating the forum with installing celica GT-Four brakes and celica zzt231 hubs soon!
  7. So whats the verdict here guys? Will the hatchback sideskirts fit the wagon as well?
  8. UPDATE!! Found some spare time with my friend who wanted to paint his brembos too. The calipers were sandblasted to remove the coat it had on and then the primer was applied the day. Here, my friend is with our compressor gun laying the final coat on his brembos and his lug nuts. The paint was more matt when we changed the ratio to less paint, and more glossy with high paint ratio. We both achieved different results with our calipers. Here are the end results! The colour came out a lot darker than we anticipated but was acceptable. I had taken the paint off the celica words to bring it closer to the "spoon calipers" that we were trying to follow on. The next step is the install. I have found some nice wheels which are 16" but are 5x100. Need to wait for SD to confirm that the front hubs off the zzt231 could be swapped into our corolla sportivo. Once that is done then everything will be rolling into.
  9. Yea the pistons are rusted in the pits and on the contact area as well. I don't think I can save them at all. I have placed an order for 8 new pistons with rebuild kit. Ex japan :( The only issue now is getting some wheels. I really want to fit them under some 16's but then again so many threads say they only fit under 17's. sigh...
  10. Thanks. I had to spend 2 hours with grease remover and a steel brush to get it back to its original colour. Any idea how bad the pistons have to be for them to be replaced? Not keen on spending $350 on rebuilding them.
  11. hey guys, I found these calipers from a wrecker. Here's how they looked. I gave them a good clean and they turned out alright. Then I decided that I would paint them this colour with the celica words revealed in its metal. This is how it is looking now. Will be painting them either tomorrow and on friday. Rotors to be used will be the ones from skyline gtr r32 which measures 296mm diameter and 32mm thick. I have to buy the overhaul kit and new pistons for the caliper as the pistons look like they are starting to rust.
  12. Can't wait man. I might go pick up a set from the wreckers soon too.
  13. Then I am going to go ahead with this and get some celica hubs. Here I come 5x100!
  14. I thought that since they use the same brakes then the hubs would be same? Any hard confirmations here
  15. Would like to know if the celica brake hubs could be swapped into the corolla sportivo. Tired of looking for wheels to fit 4 x 100!
  16. The front strut bar made a bit of difference with my car. The steering was a little lighter and I could feel the car was more solid. I have the c-one type r front strut and you can feel the difference with daily driving. The rear strut bar was one of the best mods in my opinion. I first experienced how easy it was for the car to understeer and got myself a trd rear sway bar and understeer was controlled so well and with the addition of the rear strut bar the car feels very rigid. The rear follows the front of the car very nicely and the weight of the car doesn't lean. I have the c-one rear strut bar and the difference with the rear strut and sway bar can be felt with just daily driving. The c-one front sway bar I have made the steering feel awkwardly light. It felt too light in the beginning but then the feeling faded away as I got used to it. Many people here disagree with getting the front sway bar but I found them to keep the front very flat when turning. You can feel the difference as soon as you turn the steering wheel after installing, taking corners will surprise you. I have also got the c-one front and rear underbrace. The effect of them can only be felt when taking a car for a hard run. The car feels super stable and as my friend puts it "it feels like an EG6 civic, it has better handling than his EP3" Just to add, the car is so rigid now that its a bit snappy in the rain. not so good.
  17. Looks like a good buy! But I would think that there would be some compromise with low end power. Good mod for track day.
  18. Will this work if I got a Power FC made for another car?
  19. So now I got two choices: 1. take out the energy mount inserts and put the oem ones back in or, 2. Buy the C-one engine damper. What do you guys think? Will the engine damper distribute the vibration more and make it more bearable or will it just worsen it. I have only driven the car for almost 1 hour and I find the vibration unbearable and it doesn't matter to me if the response if better if I don't even want to be in the car.
  20. The LSD works really well. I made a couple of turns at a 90 degree turn and I can feel the outside wheel increasing speed. The car actually grips! The toyota lsd seems to be very adequate and is not overly difficult to control. Some of my friends mechanical LSD require them to counter steer when their LSD starts working but not the toyota one. When the LSD starts working I can actually feel the clicking of the gears which is common to all lsd. I would have to say that the LSD is really worth the money. Before I had the LSD I would usually spin the inside wheel even when entering main streets on T-intersection since the 2zz-ge does pack some power and the car actually skips and loses traction. With the LSD now, the car doesn't skip on its tires and it actually follows the line that you direct it to. It feels like a go cart! Imagine driving 60 on the streets and actually making a 90degree turn at 60kmph with the car still flat with no slipping. Can't feel the LSD when driving straight or turning at low speed. I think this mod is suited for those going for track days as it is quite stupid for daily drivers to make sharp turns at high speeds (dangerous to pedestrians). With the flywheel, I got the Jun one which is not overly light like the MWR one. Speed really picks up very smoothly and driving is not difficult at all, unlike the experience of those using the fidanza one. I usually change gears when it revs to 3k but with the flywheel I find myself shifting at 4k. So at the same time that I usually change gears, the rev has got an extra 1k. It was extremely easy for the car to hit 100kmph with the flywheel and there is no loss of torque. Lift did feel slightly smoother. The Xtreme clutch felt quite light and bit on very nicely. I like it! I used mt90 redline oil for my gearbox and the notchiness has just about disappeared. It is so smooth that it feels like silk. I recommend it to everyone. I sometimes hit the gap between the gears (like 1st and 3rd) but the gearbox feels so smooth now when it enters into the gear. The engine mount inserts is the only mod to date that I have not enjoyed. My stomach feels like its being turned upside (like after riding the roller coaster) as I am typing this out. The dash vibrates so much and the steering wheel does it as well. Try turning on your engine and open the driver's sides door and see if the door vibrates. With the engine mount inserts they actually vibrate like crazy. The vibration seems to be more unbearable when the car is idling and the vibration is more bearable when the car is moving. Good points about the inserts is that the car seems to be more responsive so when you step on the accelerator the car pulls straightaway. So if you have passengers that get car sick quite easily then you might want to avoid this mod or be very gentle with your aceleration. When releasing the acelerator there seems to be no ***** at all which is very good but the ***** when downshifting is very apparent. Track day is coming up for me so I will post up how it goes.
  21. OK guys, I finally got my car back today with my LSD, Flywheel, Clutch and engine mount inserts installed. There was a 2 week delay because they broke my 6th gear and had to wait for it to arrive from Japan. So it is actually quite difficulty for me to say what is different but I will take it out for a more serious run. When I come back I will writing a detailed experience for everyone here.
  22. Just got my car back today with the engine mounts in. To describe them with one word? HATE. There is so much vibration in the car that it is unbearable. I don't know how some of the guys here take it so well. There is so much rattling happening, the top of my dash rattles, my air-con vents rattle, my gash cluster plastic rattles and because I have recaro seats (factory seats have springs) I feel every vibration through my buttocks and my back. Can anyone tell me if the vibrations will weaken after some driving as they might still be quite stiff?
  23. Not much love for JDM? lol just kidding. I got around asking for the costs of making a custom exhaust and here they are: mild steel system with x-force muffler is $600 Stainless system with x-force muffler is $1000 I will pop down to another shop to see how much it will costs to modify the kakimoto to fit my car. I have injen intake and ported headers already. Would be keen to dyno it after exhaust!
