  1. Hi all again , my posting was really to see if anyone else has had the same success with a OBD2 reader as I did (hope that was the case). I see from a previous posted topic on this Avalon forum (April last year I think, yes I have read the post right through)) stating difficulty in retrieving any code info because apparently these models weren`t OBD2 compliant . My personal experience over the last decade or two ,was not much code info could be retrieved because these models sat between OBD1 and OBD2 (could be just false info I read), but no matter what I tried ,nothing could be retrieved, until the use of my latest code reader. Anyway ,all is good and I have just ordered new Genuine Denso air /fuel 02 sensors here in Australia for $120 Au(for both) plus $10 Au delivery and Denso IK20TT iridium s/plugs (6) on line for $71.00 Au delivered. Every now and then you have a win . Cheers BL
  2. Well, decided to go further with the scanner by plugging in and press auto scan, it communicated and then I pressed diagnostics and the photos below show what this scanner can do where many others have failed due to software , again I`m not promoting anything or anyone ,just great to come out of the dark after 20 years of Avalon ownership with hard specific info to help diagnose a problem or future problems, it does on board diagnostics for this model at least , RPM ,temp ,mass air flow, O2, sensors and the list goes on. Maybe someone has already found all this out before and I`m behind the 8 ball but at least it has been posted now. Cheers from the great north.
  3. Hi fellow Avalon owners, knowing this has always been a bit of a mystery about Avalon's and being non OBD2 compliant with all Australian models between 2000 and 2005 (at least to me anyway) I have come across this Scanner that is able to plug and play for our machines. The scanner does a full ECU and Airbag/ Restraint systems scan (this covers all the basics fault codes that our model cars are coded for),it does not do on board analysis such as 02 or C0 readings etc . But it covers everything we need to know to replace sensors etc. I owned a 2000 Avalon previously and could get no scanner to work ,it had 2 OBD2 ports ,one under the bonnet and one on drivers side footwell, nothing worked. So not sure if this would work on Models before 2003. Not much else to say as the photos below prove a full analysis scan completed on my 12 month 2004 MK3 GXI. The scanner was purchased mainly for scanning euro cars and I decided to try and it just worked great on the 2004 GXI Avalon. Hope this helps other owners ,I not promoting any brand or kickbacks, just wanting others to have access to this info ,I purchased this on line from an overseas company as they were almost half the price than buying it here ,even with shipping,(funny ,it will not do any Older Australian Fords or Holden's etc ,but I have used this on Early model Mercs, BMWs and even a new Mustang that fixed a code that a workshop could not find)also comes with 3 years of free download updates for new models that keep coming out. Cheers from Far North Qld
  4. As my post states , I have 2, two button remotes that came with the car ,so this is where the confusion and why I was wanting info ,that and the electrical connector at the boot release actuator all pointed to remote button boot release.. Cheers
  5. Hi to everyone again ,thankyou for your experience and advice ,with the info given I have now worked out that this model (at least) has a remote boot release , as pointed out is the manual lever beside the drivers seat , the electrical connector going into the boot release actuator is there for when the car is locked and you open and then shut the boot lid the indicator lights flash once to show the car is now all locked, so I do not have remote button boot release even though I received 2 sets of original keys with 2 ,two button remotes (this is what confused me, that and the electrical connector to the release actuator as the per the attached photos),so again thankyou to the Avalon community for your time and replies to this post, hoping to reciprocate in the near future. Regards BL
  6. Hi to everyone , I just bought my second Avalon , 2005 GXI with just on 100K ,fully serviced every 7500 klms ,so I'm very happy with a genuine one owner central qld immaculate machine. My other Avalon ( which has just been sold ) runs like a swiss clock and is a 2000 Conquest with 260 K on it .Why but new when you can buy another great reliable machine for a change over of just $5k au. Plus all of my spare and service parts will fit. My question to any one out there after many hours of looking up the web is ,does my car come standard with remote boot release? after reading all the info for this model there is conflicting reviews saying it comes standard but looking at my remote boot latch I found no actuator on it (see photo) there is a black plastic round shroud which should cover a motor but behind it is nothing. Yet there a single wire connector connected to it( boot release latch). I have 2 ,two button remotes, when the small button is held down for 1 second I can hear a relay clicking sound behind the glove box and the horn sounds twice but no boot opening. There is no remote glove box button . The Conquest does not have remote boot opening ,so I cannot compare . The manual just covers all models and does not specify which model has which. My question, if it is not remote ,can I fit a actuator with the existing wiring harness? Many thanks in advance if you can shed some light on the matter . Kind Regards from B L
