  1. Has anyone else suffered a RAV4 CVT failure? My daughter's 2016 ZSA42R has done 120000km and been religiously serviced by the "Toyota Experts" at the dealer. No towbar. City driving. Car developed a bad clunking/whining increasing with road speed and "Toyota Dealer" tells me CVT now needs replacement. About $ 13000.00. My warranty is only the standard 3 Year/100000km whichever occurs first. I have done my own checking/diagnosing with both front wheels in the air and unfortunately they are correct. It is not a CV joint or a wheel bearing. Apparently, the 6 speed CVT is "sealed for life" and never needs fluid change. Unfortunately now I know better. My "Toyota Service" invoices state "Inspected Automatic Transmission Fluid" at 40000 and 80000 however it is obvious now that this was not done. So are there any other ducks out there like me who believed these supposed specialists were looking after my car?
