  1. I totally agree with you there is some thing very wrong when a camry needs suspension bushes at 150klms they must have been on very very rough road for most of its life Dosent make any sense Haydn
  2. I was wondering if any one new if a V6 96 fuel pump( is it the same pump?) would work for a 5fe 4 clylinder trying to help a fellow camry owner out
  3. I have a 95 GSX Wagon V6 it has ABS, cruise. elec windows. keyless entry, velour seats The suspension seems on the hard side compared to my sons 94 csi wagon so I susect it may have the 17mm sway bars it has no CD player although it says so on the radio cassett player maybe it was an option but I cant find where the wiring is I just hope that the engine loom out of the 96 V6 Im putting in the car has the wires for the cruise control Next weekend will tell I guess when Im putting in the new motor and tranny
  4. Yes its a good way to pick up a bargain I did my sons 94 wagon (blown head gasket and slipped in reverse slightly)that way but I put in a motor and trans 95.000klms in his car as the original wasnt serviced properly anyway ( I usally drain the diff in these cars and that tells me straight away also if no coolant. When buying a motor , the motor has to still be in the car and I make sure its got toyota coolant in it if not I wont buy it, and a good look around to see if the car has been properly serviced as far as I was concerned. I recenltly picked up a 95 wagon gsx with a blown head gasket its done 230.00 klms no coolant .I bought a 96 model car with a rear quarter pushed in with 115.00klms I am going to put that motor and trans in the wagon as it was serviced properly at toyota it belonged to a older guy from new so if you know any one that wants any parts I have a complete car with no dents not one mark in the front and three dentless doors, Drivers side rear door was slightly damaged , perfect inside as well csi trim. The car was parked on the street at his daughters home and some drunk hit the rear quarter and hit the RH rear wheel thats where all the damage is . The dog leg at the rear guard hit the rear drivers door slightly fixable HaydnG
  5. Seems to be a weak link on these 10 yr car with say 200k plus... Simple enough to remove and have pressure tested, for hardenss and straightness as well... only take the troubled head of, naturally... then replace as you would any other alloy head motor... heaps of data on net for diy re: timing belt and tensions etc.. Since it is common, seems a good way to pick up a bargain, once repaired you know what u got, all fresh and clean to go.. not bad and it's just nuts and bolts if your familiar with that sort of thing, it's doable. Care with cleaning out ALL fine alloy particles after head shave if water jacket has to be welded... My radiator was 80% blocked...10K after head job with alloy particles caused to re-heat.. lets us know progress, I interested.
  6. Maybe you have blown a fuse check them. then turn your igintion on see if you can see the air condtioner compressor clutch click in its just near your fan belts at the front under your alternator. If that not engaging it could be you have some how ran out of gas and it might need regasing you should always switch on your a/c and run it for a minuet every day as the seal in the compressor drys out and goes hard if you dont and then you loose gas , A lot of current car have a feature where the a/c come on automatical so this doesnt happen these day but our old bangers dont You best see a a/c mechcanic so he can recharge it with gas the dye to find a leak usally a oring dyes out and leaks good luck Haydng

  13. Hi just wondered if any one new of any information about head gasket problems . I was reading on the net that toyota changed the head gasket material (non aspestos) as I have seen a few camry over the 200.000 mark with head gasket problems I do know that they like to have good coolant in them which is a must with alumium heads and cast blocks But just wondered if any one new any more . I do know that toyota had warranty on head gasket replacement in the usa during the early 90s but not sure which modelsHaydn
  14. I own three camrys at the moment a sv21 sedan, a 93 wide body wagon 2.2 currently with the motor and tran out and my latest purchase a 95 vienta wagon gsx comlete with blown head gasket . Thanks for telling about the keyless entry wasnt sure if it came out the alarm sets (blinkers flash ) but the doors dont lock at the moment when pressing the remote button .But if you use the key in the door it will lock all doors and tailgate The car has been sitting since november 07 and the battery was stuffed just stuck another in it to see what worked (every thing but door locks working with the remote) so wasnt sure if the door butons should open and close with the remote thanks for the answer Regards Haydn -------Just love camrys
  15. Hi just bought another project a vienta V6 blown head gasket but besides that wondered how hard it was to convert this camry to key less entry As I am not sure what they came out with mine flashes the indicators when you press the the remote key (setting the alarm I think ) but dosnt lock the door not sure if its surpose to or not but dosnt . Does any one know if toyota had a kit to turn it into a keyless entry or any other surgestions? Can you buy a kit to suit ? It shouldnt take to much to change the system so the doors unlock by remote surely?
  16. 320k is a lot of klms the v6 seem to have head gasket problems over the 200k mark stick with the 5s 4 clylinder cheaper to run and less costly to do up Haydng
  17. Its a good chance it will be a rear main oil leak to fix the motor will have to come out if you lean down at the front of the car and look at the join at the rear of the engine where the gearbox joins and run your figure along the bell housing you will find oil there also some times under the distributor the oring leaks where it goes into the head also run your figure alng the back of the tappett cover as there it a oil smell these are the places where oil could drop onto the exhaust if you can get your head inside the drivers side front wheeel well with a touch you might find front oil seal or cam sharft leak but this couldnt get on to the exhaust easily Haydn
  18. Just wondering if any of you guy know some good place in Melbourne to buy V6 overhaul gaskert set and other stuff concering a rebuild Regards Haydn
