  1. Well might be getting somewhere with the sat nav hack.

After much playing have discoved that if you hold the info button on and turn the headlights on and off you get into the programming screens.

seems to have a screen to set speeds for blacking out features when moving , is set at 0km cant work out how to change it. Also has plenty of other info that will take time to work out. Please have a go at your units and see what you come up with. I will keep trying

All we need is a detailed service manual for this unit with the steps to follow and i think it would be very simple, anyone have any ideas how to get one.

Found a video on utube about this denso unit and it will do lots of things that Toyota Aust haven't activated in our units, it is absurd they have chosen to not use some of the features(everyone should send an email to Toyota complaining)

    GOOD FIND,

Going out to play, thats such an irritating feature the speed safety cut out it sometimes more dangerous as you dont wont to move in traffic to enter a street name, sound like we may able to do it on the run now :yahoo: working on getting the work shop manual but its locked on the main Toyota PCs NOT A DVD OR Disc so I have been told ....Bugger...

I have read heaps of posts for the previous sat nav in toyotas and they had a code along similar lines, has taken lots of reading. I new it would not have been changed to much, so just kept trying buttons.

Now need to work out what sequence of buttons you use to change settings when you are in these screens. There must be someone that can work it out, maybe I need to post on some US sites how to access programming screens , plenty of tech heads over there. I havent seen any posts that they have accessed program screens over there yet.

    Keep trying!!!!!!!!!

    Doesnt work for me!

  3. Funny how it won this one and got rolled in the Wheels test

Quote again why it rolled Through corners, the Kluger feels stable enough, although its weight and higher centre of gravity mean it is not as nimble as the Odyssey. It does, however, have the safety net of stability control.Does it?

HAD A WHEELS TOOL AT THE WHEEL!!

  4. My Mrs drives the car most of the time but from almost day 1 I suspected the handbrake/foot brake was not biting enough, I had it reported for the first 1000km service but they said it was alright. ( I suspect they probably didn't even look at it, but I never had the opportunity to check it )

Anyway the other day I was parking on a steepish driveway and no way was the handbrake up to the task, not even close. The car kept moving and I had to rely on the lynch pin to stop her. Im not a big fan of the foot brake thats for sure.

Definitely will get them to have a proper look at 10k which is still a long 3k away and have them provide a proper report.

Anyone else's foot brake not working as well as you thought it should?

Ours is crappy too, you have to stand on it to get it too work affectively

  5. Just got told about the roll over at a Subaru dinner tonight it did not surprise me! Have not read the article yet but have noticed the car has massive body roll when comming into a corner at higher speed than you would normally encounter under normal driving conditions with passengers (meaning it would be uncomfortable for your wife and kids as passengers) The things not a rally car or an RX8... HA HA! Its high and lofty it will roll with easy with a tool at the wheel any day any type of corner at the wrong speed, hop behind the wheel of a Subaru and you will know what I mean :yahoo: .

  6. Not sure where you would get reliable HID's now Ive had mine for over 3 years now and not going back to candle power Halogen ever

All I can say is the new Kluger is bugger to aim the new lights compared to Subaru, Nissan and holden

The picture upload does not work?

First Picture One HID in the second All HID's in What a difference!

  7. I still can't find the RCA plugs.... con thread from the US.

Im hopefully going to take the DVD shroud off on the weekend to wire in external speakers so I let you know If I find any thing up there

I noticed the Video button on the remote aswell it does nothing like the blank switch on the DVD.

The tow bars going in first then I will work on the DVD problem, HID's are all in and done

  8. Works like a beauty in the Grande, in the pitch dark the reverse, and even the brake lights make everything easily visible even as far back as 10m or more at my place. I even use it to make sure we haven't left anything behind at night before pulling out from a dark parking spot.

I bet you the camera was fogged up or had water on it ours is a ripper too!

  9. A$57k driveaway for a Grande AWD is not impossible at all if u're talking abt the Gen1. As for the current model its a bit hard to believe you could get tht price as a private buyer of 1 unit. Anyway , who knows you might be as suave as Mr Bond B)

When I haggled for my KXR, I used this website as to what to aim for www.cfionline.com.au Its good because when the negotiatons "heats up" and the salesman questions you on what made you think you could get it at that price :nono: I could simply point him to the URL :P

I agree as I just said in the other thread!

  10. We got ours for $58k and a bit With Carpets Side steps Cargo Mat And extra tint for front side windows Is that a good deal ???

BS, What colour is it ?

I bet you its Beige leather? and Gold?

    Fleet deal?

Good Price if it was true

  11. Its hard to negotiate a great deal on a new high demand Japanese model thats why I was Lucky enough to score a demo with some extras about 1k worth I walked out of the dealer ship because they could not do the deal with the tow bar which I still have not got. at 64,800 you still got an ok deal as it includes your extras and on road costs :yahoo: What colour did you decide on?

  12. I hope the Uniden lives up to all you expectations good luck with the installation. I have a commercial Kenwood radio to put into the Kluger not sure when and where Im going to mount it as its a remote unit so the main nit can go under the seat I hope and the head some where may be the glove box.

My antenna is a commercial job again (as its my business Radios) on glass antenna for minimum intrusion with its compact size and no holes required mounting. It will do the job when in convoy for snow trips or 4X4ing :yahoo:

  13. Hello - I want to buy a UHF transceiver but not sure which to go for. Thought i'd try DSE just for a bit of advice yesterday, but came out feeling a bit frustrated at the salespersons lack of enthusiasm...

The only one they really recommended was the GME TX3200 - is that good or not? Nothing to compare it against see... At site we use Motorolas, but again i don't know which would be better.

Any advice? Thanks - also what type of aerial..?

    Cheers ~PHIL

PS I ought to say that it would be used for bush driving/ general road trips up t'north etc from Perth. Just want to make sure we get as good as we can for the money we can spend...

    Go the GME.

If your in Sydney I may be able to help

  14. For those guys going fleet I got a huge discount.

My fleet actually goes through orix, However I was not happy with the quote Orix game me. So I sent a one page fax letterhead

with my company logo to 10 toyota dealerships, Got some great and not so great pricing back. I found I could get an extra 3000

off then what orix had quoted me!

To put it simply got a grande awd with front/rear sensors, towpack, roof bars, floor mats, metalic paint for just over 61000 ( drive away ).

    Congrats Nice work! What Colour?

  15. Interesting point re the vanity light, I had a similar thing happen with the center interior light, my boys must have been playing with it when we got home and left it on for several hours.

The Old Berlina had better simple light smarts (bosh) which Toyota could take note

    Dead lock/alarm

    Only open the drivers door

Turn off all interior lights once car is locked

Courtesy head lights on when approaching car in the dark (with remote)

You still have 5 minutes to shut your windows once the key was removed

  16. Good review even if from a Biased Mazda owner.

-The Mazda flip key looks at home sitting on the posh cafe table at Chapel Street (a ****** comment) No key less entry and auto tail gate on your Mazda then I gather? Down hill decent or hill hold?

-You can actually attack corners at speed usually not achievable by vehicle this size, sounds good whats is its ground clearance?

    - Gearbox only a 5 speeder True do you need a six if ours is quicker and has better fuel economy? and is smooth too

    - 3rd row is only for children, Crap fact! Is yours a split should be in ours!

    - 2nd row middle seat is not comfortable 100% Agree worst part of the whole car

    - Styling too modest- Interior is bland, Personal opinion while functional

-The Grande does not come with factory Xenon's either which it should for the price you pay My Xenons are in and working fine!

    - CX-9 is a new model having no predecessor and some may cast doubts on its reliability

The final bullet is enough for me to confirm I made the right decision.

    Time will tell

  17. hi all, has anyone done a comparison of new kluger Grande vs Mazda cx9? I would be interested to hear comments

    The Conclusion

The New Kluger Grande wins, I own one! :spiteful:

No seriously it will be good to see a Comparison and the Tribecca. The Toyota losses the first one, the Bottom line its the most expensive out of the three.

  18. Hi all, I ordered my Crystal Pearl AWD Grande in October and was told February delivery which has now now been pushed back to March :(. Glad I found this forum for my Kluger 'fix' as I'm getting very impatient!!!

Does the GPS have voice direction and can the navigation software be upgraded?

Congratulations and welcome to the forum, hope the wait passes quickly.

Im amazed how long delivery is taking now, at first it was about 4-6 weeks only in Sept, now its months but the wait will be worth it.

At least you'll get an 08 model..

Who cares about an 08 when you have to walk everywhere

  19. Cant remember if you got the AWD, and wonder if an AWD might haver different front end feel?.

    I have AWD of course.

I doubt the drive train makes a lot of difference in the way that the car dips in and turn on minimum throttle. It does push in couple of occasions on moderate speed around corners... as I said it is not a sports car although I own at least one all my life!

Believe me... I will not drive the same if I were driving an XC90. The according driver was quick and I keep up with him by driving faster than most of people do in those brand on a normal sedan. The car is still within the limit and never comes close of losing traction. The tyres are bad as I though either. Lucky my wife enjoyed my driving.

    Nice drive and Pics

Good to confirm the quoted fuel economy figures are achievable

If you want to go faster in a smaller box on wheels get a Forester much better drivers car (My daily drive) Nearly as much fun as a rotary as I use to drive and race with them for over 10 years.

The Kluger may not handle like a sports car but I think the motor is sweet when on song....Nice.... some what out of place in a largish 4x4 AWD but still nice for the rev head in you.

Good to see you are very happy with your new ride takahashi
