  1. The guys I used have done many eManages, but on turbo cars only, which is half the problem I reckon... it really does look like they haven't done much to the car... the slopes of the power curves are identical with only a small bump at around 4k rpm... No .gsc file unfortunately... With 96.5kW on a hub dyno, we're probably talking 110-115kW at the fly? So what power should I be aiming at with my mods? Anyway, the purpose of this was to figure out whether it was worth taking my car to another tuner, so I guess the answer is YES!
  2. Hey Guys, I took my car to Revzone in Nunawading a while ago to install and tune my eManage, but not sure if they've given it a good tune or not (they said they're used to F/I cars only). I've attached my dyno sheet for reference. It's from a hub-dyno. Not much of a gain, although I've verified through my mechanic that the ignition timing has been advanced. The car is running on BP Ultimate. Mods are CAI, 4-2-1 wildcat extractors, 2.25" exhaust, Sportivo (droopy tip) muffler. The lighter line is before and the darker line is after the eManage. It looks like the engine is still making power all the way to the redline, but torque is dropping off. Is there anyway to smoothen out the torque curve, especially in the mid-range, through tuning? Is this the limit with my mods?
  3. Keeping the stock muffler, I put a 2.25" mandrel-bent catback system on and I felt straight away that the car was more eager to rev... felt as if the stock exhaust had a blocked nose and I'd just put some vicks into the engine... I drove the car with that for about a month, then installed a set of Wildcat 4-2-1 extractors... With the extractors on, I noticed more engine sound when revving, but no real increase in power or 'revability'... I then went and installed a Simota CAI system... With the CAI, the sound under WOT is amazing... sounds almost like a boxer engine above 4,000rpm... a nice faint burbling... but definite drop in power between 1.5krpm and 3krpm.... this was later confirmed by my dyno, which I did when I installed my eManage, which fixed it right up... So there you go... hopefully this helps you make your decision on what to do with breathing mods.... remembering that the stock headers are a specific tuned length etc etc etc.... you want to be careful with what you put on an NA car... 4. Hey Mario, Please take me off the group buy list coz I've already picked my set up from Jules. Thanks buddy.
  5. hey rudy can u paint my black please? :D how much will it cost? cheers mario My respray is covered under insurance, so not sure if the panel beater will charge me extra to get other things sprayed... wouldn't be more than $100 though (which is what someone on another post said they paid)... I doubt it'd even be anywhere close to $50... Respray will probably be on Thursday, but dropping the car off on Wednesday, so will ask then...
  6. If anyone wants anything painted in black (ie, Corolla black), let me know and I can probably get it done for you cheap (my previous post explains why).
  7. PM'd Sorry, didn't get your PM. My inbox is not full either.
  8. Hey mate, Any chance you'll be able to get the grill and eyelids by next Monday 6th Feb? Reason I'm asking is because I'm getting my front bumper replaced and re-sprayed on Wednesday 8th, and it would be a perfect opportunity to use the left-over paint for the grill and eyelids... If you're able to, count me in for the group buy and I'll pick them up from you on Monday. If not, I'll go get them myself this weekend. Oh, and does the grill come with wire mesh? Or is just a big gaping hole?
  9. I was told an eManage is overkill on a Corolla but I recently went ahead and installed one anyway... I have yet to get through my first tank of fuel, but to give you an idea, here's an indication of how much it has helped: I have done 460km using BP Ultimate and my fuel gauge is halfway between 1/4 full and 1/2 full... this includes frequent driving with the air-con on (hot spell in Melbourne at the moment) and lots of +5k shifts (I just installed a power mod afterall)... I'm estimating at least 550km before the red light, which equates to roughly 7.3L/100km... As far as tuning your air-fuel ratios, I would think an SAFC is enough... I went eManage coz I thought I'd get a lot more power as well as fixing the a/f, but I didn't really get that much in the end... Rudes
  10. double din u'll still need spacers on each side as i have one installed. toyota make their headunits bigger and unique in size for some reason :( u won't find one on the market that'll fit in perfectly. that's why toyota sell them spacers/butterflies for about $15 each. ← Stock Double DIN single CD player on Corollas require spacers on either side... The 6-stacker from the Sportivo doesn't require spacers, as I found out when I swaped my Stock single CD to a 6-stacker....
  11. My driving style: Changes at 3,000rpm with frequent trips into the >4,000rpm range... My 1zz-fe: On BP Ultimate I have averaged 7.5L/100km over 3 full tanks, and I plan to go another 7 or so full tanks so I can obtain a statistically significant sample :P Previous to BP Ultimate, I used Shell Optimax and only managed 7.9L/100km (although that wasn't a properly controlled study), so I plan to revert back to Shell Optimax once my 10 tanks of BP Ultimate is up....
  12. I went to Revzone for my eManage, but the service was pretty lousy... to cut a long story short, I'm still waiting for an install after they promised me they could do it a month ago... Danz, can you please post details of Meridian Motorsport.
  13. That's riding the clutch heaps right? Coz even when I try slipping the clutch in I get wheelspin from 4,000...
  14. Hi Guys, Just wondering whether anyone can recommend a good tuning shop to install an eManage around the Melbourne area? I've heard of some places like Revzone and F1 Performance, but I'd prefer to take my car to someone who has actually installed an eManage before, and better yet, installed an eManage onto a 1ZZ Corolla.
  15. Whiteline have "Control" springs and "Flat out" springs, which I think drop your car by something like 45mm... not sure if they make flat out springs for our Corollas though....
  16. With control springs, the front is approximately 33cm and the back is approximately 34-35cm from centre of the wheel to the fender... it's not an obvious drop, but with a sportivo bodykit, it's certainly low enough to have to worry about gutters...
  17. Hmm... I wish it was so Minto... but my 1ZZ gearbox with 70,000km crunches at high revs going into 2nd... so does my friend's AE86... doesn't look like it's isolated to the stivo gearbox...
  18. I retract my previous statement... okay $20k does include some rice (rims, bodykit) and suspension mods, but it's probably fair to say they've spent at least $10k on power... also remembering that average joes (being my friends) don't know how to install their own parts... 180kW out of a CA with 4k spent is very nice..... I would also be very interested in the price.
  19. I've got Whiteline Control Springs on my car with stock shocks, and ride quality has not changed... having said that, I always thought the ride quality was a bit on the harsh side anyway.....
  20. Nah, no rice... just quality equipment.... you should see how linear their power curves are.... good reliable 200kW....
  21. Danz show me where very few on vvti.net, vvt-i.net, 9thgencorolla.com and I've seen maybe one or two on newcelica.net, haven't checked spyderchat.com in a while though .... I want to rack all their brains and milk them for information :D Mintos: I'm not going to hijack your Dyno thread with discussion about my turbo idea (that's all it is at present because I'm not made of money) but needless to say the more I research into doing everything properlly to make 200kw at the front wheels reliably and safely, the bigger my shopping list gets. ← Yeah Danz...where is this info - WE DEMAND EVIDENCE, RIGHT NOW! Admittedly i have not investigated extensively however i am aware of all the resources you listed there paradox. I have read a bit and had the car checked out and had a chat with some turbo tuners though. Also, thread hijacking doesnt exist man i was the one that started to steer it towards the need for MORE POWER, that is F/I. So whatever, i will not be offended if you start talking about german shiesser vids... <_< But far out, 200kw atw, reliably AND safely, that is fcuking intense mate. Say goodbye to 10-15k...Dang that will be awesome though - what is the current eta based on available budget, current cash flow and also current cost estimate? ← Couple of my friends have spent well over $20k on their S15s, and they're only sitting at around 200rwkW.... I doubt 10-15k would get a corolla there... besides, you'll probably get to 150kW atw and find that the chassis has had enough and has called it quits....
  22. I posted that right after getting my simota CAI... it sure makes the car sound good... that's a definite.... as for power gains... that's not a definite... but I guess you could say the same of any CAI on the market... Motoman is right... the Simota seems to be slightly smaller in diameter than other CAIs.... I notice a bit of hesitation in the engine below 3,000rpm, but it's good after that.... As for the filter making a difference, there have been many reviews and articles stating that the air resistance is negligible between brands... adding to that, I've seen an S15 with and without a K&N air filter pull exactly the same power figure on the dyno... What Melvin said about tuned lengths affecting power gains... that is a possibility... I know with Hondas, you have to be careful about your intake tract length simply because those engines are so finely tuned... adding a CAI on an integra has been shown to decrease power... who knows if it's the same with Toyotas... My 2c
  23. From my own personal experience, camber can be quite expensive to fix, so brace yourself.
  24. That's the muffler I have.... it's a 2" inlet to approximately a 2" outlet.... sound-wise, it "growls" (that's the best way to describe it).... Northy is right on the money when he says it's not much louder than stock.... tone is lower and noise level at high rpms is just right....
