Here's my ride, i don't really have any quality pics of it. Rear Quarter View Front Quarter View I remember looking at the TTE body kits way back at the start of last year, but back then i had no money. Now i have some, i really want the front bumper garnish plus the rear diffuser with twin exhausts by TTE. Looks hot. -
As i have a dirt road as a driveway that goes down a steep hill then through a shallow creek i activate ABS quite frequently when it gets even slightly wet (or really dry and dusty for that matter) and yes i have an '07 model corolla. I activate my abs when i go for spirited drives up and down the great dividing range driving home for the weekend from work. It's perfectly normal. Much better than not activating it, and it lets you know when you're reaching the limits. This is a reason they should make defensive driving courses mandatory - so people can test out their car and know how it will respond in an emergency. However, on a slightly different topic, we have had a lot of rain up here near mackay recently, and while driving along in town at 50kph in heavy rain (it was a 60 zone, REALLY heavy rain with lots of traffic), the abs and parking brake light have come on simultaneously and stayed on. So i promptly pulled the car over gently and turned it off. after about a minute later i started it up again in the hope that the ECU would have reset or something. Alas, this was not the case. So I pulled back out onto the road, drove slowly until there was no traffic behind me, then jammed on the brakes to try them out. Sure enough, all four wheels locked up and the car skidded easily on the wet road. No ABS engagement. Now i have come to my own conclusions about what may have caused this, so bear with me. Quite a while ago i must have bottomed out directly in between the two front wheels, which isn't hard to do on north queensland roads i might add. This caused the forward edge of a plastic panel to come loose, and proceed to pull itself downwards when in the airstream, and if i went through a dip, the plastic panel would scrape. At first this was nothing major, and i kept driving normally, but everytime it scraped it pulled itself a little closer to the ground, eventually scraping quite frequently - especially on rough roads. It would also scrape on our driveway constantly and fling rocks up at the car underneath. (There's so many plastic panels under there, and i have previously had another one hanging down under the front right fog-light, which the toyota service staff zip-tied up to fix. Great work there. It would cost $250 to replace a fricking plastic underpanel that was about the size of a dinner plate.) Given my previous experience with the local toyota dealer, i jacked the car up myself, inspected the plastic panel to see what it was protecting, and found there only to be part of the wishbone(?) suspension - no cabling or moving parts. So i removed the panel and disposed of it, i wasn't able to zip tie it back up. Perhaps there is some sort of centrally under-car mounted ABS line, and removing the plastic cover has allowed some ingress of water with the heavy rain we've had into the system? This is the only thing i can think of. The light isn't on at the moment, but was on and off randomly while driving. The abs system only works when the light is off. Any suggestions? Cheers.

ZRE Blitz Throttle Controller

*Sigh* No, just probably temporarily conservative, or poor since they just lay down some moolah on a new car and are almost finished paying it off... and at uni... lol, me anyway, but yeah! Someone should try this thing, it's now on my list straight after getting a bluetooth setup for my phone with hidden mike, and possibly a reverse camera. -
Slightly off topic methinks.

2007 ZRE152R Corolla Mods?
Shaunus Maximus replied to Tofuboi's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
I've got my 20k service coming up in a few weeks, just wondering if I should buy a TRD air and oil filter and have them fit it during the service. Are there any noticeable improvements using these parts? I am also considering using 0W-50 synthetic Mobil 1 oil after the drain. -
i just found out corolla doesnt have ESP stability control....this one let me down... but toyota has latest gadget, more cargo space, 7 airbags (but hm..only 4 stars ncap and mazda 5 stars) headache....need to inform her about this.... any other comments? Since when does the corolla only have 4star crash safety? But anyway, go for the mazda 3, it handles better than the corolla due to a low centre of gravity, and ESP. But if you're after sheer practicality and traditional engineering, go the corolla...

ZRE Blitz Throttle Controller

I'm glad someone finally said it If my car was a few years old, I would be less reluctant to modify it for sure. Here's the thing, I've only got 19000km's on it and its 10months old, the engine hasn't been released in the U.S.A. yet, which is arguably other than japan the biggest market for performance engine parts that actually work, and until the market size increases for 2ZR-FE engine modifications there isn't really going to be anything priced at a reasonable level that provides major performance improvements. And the fact that my folks would freak if they saw that throttle control module sitting on my dash if they happened to look in... But it's tempting for sure. -

the 2ZR-FE engine is only used in Australia and Japan (Maybe Africa too) at the moment. But everywhere else, they have 1.4 petrol, 1.6 petrol, 2.0 diesel, and 2.2 Diesel (sport) models. In the USA the 2009 corolla will get the 2ZR-FE, and the new Scion XB (or XD, not sure) will also. Until this engine is released to these large markets I doubt there will be much in the way of performance products, but if you can read japanese you're bound to find some -
My ZRE152 doesnt have any stability control, only braking assist and anti-lock brakes. I was under the impression that perhaps the 08 models had an upgraded loadout with some sort of vehicle stability control - judging by Alfi's post. I know that the ABS is quite severe and really kills all brake feel, but it could be your inside wheel spinning and making the car shudder.

Poor *****.... There shouldnt be any conflict once the VSC is turned off, as that system is pretty much standalone. And anyway, if it does stop you, i'm sure that someone somewhere on these forums will find a way...

My car is due for its 20,000 km service soon, and the only problem i have with it is that the handbrake takes one more notch to hold it still when i get out of it to shut the gate to our property, other than that its running perfectly. compare it to my mates 06 lancer with 11000, and you'd swear that the corolla is far newer... I also like the styling (interior especially), only qualms are the rear bumper that seems a little bland, other than that i think its a really solid style and to me it looks above any other hatch in its class, the sedan is far more conservatively styled. -
Ive made a mental note to get the cover for my 07 ascent when my insurance and rego comes through next month. I have a crack in my windscreen now, but its a rather small one (10c coin, and then mainly just a horizontal split) and ive put a free obriens sealing patch over it. The crack happened when my car had about 1000km on it (GRRRR!) and 2 unlicensed dirt-bikes pulled out in front of me and did wheelies. ****ers...

2007 ZRE152R Corolla Mods?
Shaunus Maximus replied to Tofuboi's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
Every speaker has dynaxorb behind it, and all the service holes are sealed. Its pretty much as air tight as i could get, I pretty much got boot kits put everywhere possible using 2 boot kits in the back for extra padding, and used door kits to patch everything up. Also i had sound insulation installed way back when i first got the car along with a tinting and rust protection package, so thats definitely helped in the road-noise department. The car is far quieter than anything else ive driven or been in, in terms of road noise. Thats including some a late model Lexus and a Mercedes. No I did not pay 4 grand for the sound system, it was around 2.5k for all the sound gear, then about 1k for the dynamatting's. So i guess 3.5 grand all up is pretty close, but the sound system is very reliable, very loud (when i want it to be) and very crisp. The sound system is finished, and i foresee nothing further to add to it. Next on my agenda is induction and ECU (throttle lag) upgrades, but I'm still undecided as to what sort of exhaust setup to pursue. I HATE loud exhausts, so i want it to be extremely quiet at idle but nice and raspy at high rpm for sheer thrills. I'm not after a deep noise for the car, as it doesnt suit its character, and the fact that 4pot engines tend to sound rather generic when given loud exhaust systems, unless they are boxer engines... But here's the deal, I'm at university studying full time electrical engineering, i work as many hours a week as i can (41 this week), and at the moment i want to save up a more comfortable sum of money before spending any of it on these parts.
