  1. Hi, I was just wondering how I go about changing the engine coolant fluid on a 2007 Toyota Camry. Is there a plug on the underside of the car that I have to unscrew to drain the fluid? Also, what is the best replacement fluid to use, and how much do I need? Thanks for any advice. *** Yep, I know I sound like an idiot but I've checked google for some advice and it's bloody useless ***
  2. Thanks, but are you sure it's anti-clockwise? I'm trying like hell to get this bolt off and it won't budge. I even put some oil on it to try to loosen it. I'm positive... Try using a longer spanner or bar... The longer it is, the easier it is to undo... Ain't got a pipe and even if I did my non-mechanical mind can't figure out how it would help to loosen the bolt. I have realised one reason why I'm having such a ridiculous amount of trouble with this. On my old '94 Camry the bolt was at the front of the oil pan and at the bottom. On the '07 model it's at the back of it and is on a diagonal towards the back of the car, not at the bottom of it. So when I am lying on my back under the car with my head pretty much under the bolt I have absolutely NO idea which way anti-clockwise is. Would it be too much to ask these car manufacturers to put a simple arrow on there to tell you which way to turn the frickin' thing to loosen it? Just tell me this. When I loosen the bolt is it first movement towards the RIGHT tyre or the LEFT tyre?
  3. Simple question... When I loosen the bolt on the oil pan, do I turn it towards the FRONT of the car, or the BACK of the car? Please don't say clockwise or anti-clockwise because that changes depending on where you are standing. Thanks.

  5. A belated thanks, Rollaboy. I actually did exactly what you said after making my post and found it that way, but thank you for responding. Now, I'm just about to change the oil on my Altise for the first time and I cannot get the bolt off to drain the oil. Should I be turning the bolt towards the right tyre or the left tyre? In my other cars I've always turned it towards the right tyre. While I'm at it, what size spanner do I need to take off the bolt? I'm using an adjustable one right now but it looks like it's either a 14 or a 15 that is required. Thanks for any advice.
  6. Hello, I bought some car seat covers for my '07 Altise while on holiday in the Philippines recently and I have to remove the headrests to pull the covers down over the seats. I can't figure out how to remove them and was wondering if someone would be kind enough to tell me how. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for the replies. So although it isn't a problem, is there anything I can do to stop it?
  8. Hi, I've got an '07 model Altise that I purchased in January and during the last three days it's started making a low hissing noise, kind of like air escaping from a tyre or the noise the air conditioner makes when it's on low. This only happens when I push the accelerator pedal. When the car is idling or moving along without acceleration there is no noise. I checked the water, coolant and oil and they are all fine. The strange thing is I only had the car serviced four weeks ago. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice on what the problem might be. Thanks.
  9. I know this seems like a stupid question, but I purchased an '07 Altise recently and although I'm going to have it regularly serviced I'd still like to be able to change the oil myself. The thing is that when looking under the hood I can't locate the oil filter. I'm thinking it's like the Territory where it's tucked away underneath and at the back of the engine but I haven't tried jacking it up and looking under the body yet. I was just wondering if someone could give me a head start and tell me exactly where the filter is located. There's not a single mention of it in the vehicle's manual. Thanks.
  10. Hello, my name's Daniel. I've got a couple of problems with a '94 model Camry. The first one came about after I rear-ended another car back in September. At the time the car was not insured so after the accident I drove it home. The radiator was damaged in the accident and I think the engine may have overheated as a result. However, we took the car to a smash repairer who repaired the damage. On the day I picked it up and drove to work there were problems with a "bumping" sensation coming from under the hood, like the engine was vibrating. This would only happen when the car was idling at the traffic lights. I took it back to the repairer and he performed a tune-up on the car and serviced it. I asked him if the problem could be related to the engine and he said that the engine was fine. After that it worked perfectly and did so for the next three weeks before the "bumping" problem returned. I did not take the car back to the repairer because I had become suspicious of him, thinking he might be trying to rip me off. I haven't done anything to try to fix the problem, mainly because the car still runs normally, bumping aside. However, today we were going to the shops. I turned the alarm off and when I started the car, it seemed to choke and then the alarm went off, as if someone was trying to break in. I turned off the car and switched off the alarm and started the car again. The same thing happened so I stopped the car again. Only this time I could not turn off the alarm. I kept on pressing the buttons and got no response. I was unable to start the car, either. I called up Toyota for some advice and they were not really helpful, so I took the risk of cutting the wire that led to the alarm speaker under the hood. This stopped the blarring of the alarm but I still could not start the car, as if it's been immobilised. I know it could possibly be the battery but I only had the battery in the car replaced about five months ago. The car is now sitting on my lawn, immobile and unable to be started. I'm insured with AAMI and figure the best thing to do is to call them up, but first I wanted to see if anyone here knows what the problems could be. Thanks in advance for any advice.
