  1. Hi I have had my Sahara since Feb' 19500kms and as happy as a pig in ---. This is my 5th Sahara and I did previosly have a Lexus 470. The bottom line is that the Sahara has many add ons and the new Lexus is just not value in comparison. In absolute terms I cannot qupte a problem, and have no warramty requirements at all PLUS the $180 fixed service fee has been great. So, totally positive,as you should be at $100K plus
  2. Taka - What I cannot understand is why the Toyota GPS, in all models incl' my Sahara do not have "Speed as a display". My previous Holden Caprice did have this and it was very helpful, and I always drove by it
  3. Sorry can't help you with that - However it is a bit poor that their is only one power supply on the front dash - Will have to get one installed at the rear for things like fridges etc.
  4. Well.....I dont know how your customers are driving the car, but I drive it with a bit of a lead foot at times, and im getting 11L / 100 around town, and about 10.4L / 100 on the highway. These figures are fairly consistant. I have got about 6500km on the clock. I use Cartrak to keep a record of all fuel usage. Cheers. Go for it Conehead - Your numbers almost mirror mine Happy Easter
  5. Agreed - mine never shows better than a range of around 650kms. Interestingly when it is nearly empty on the "dial" I can only get about 60 litres in, which means that it has around 30 left - I will keep checking. The good news that I have had so far is that the Cruiser Computor is calculating consumption very accurately, compared to fuel in check speedo.
  6. Have just returned from 1,600 kms trip on Hume Hwy and in and around Sydney (Diesel Sahara). In total the consumption was 11.2 l/100. The running on the Hume Highway averaged 10.3 l/100. The great thing is that the Sahara consumption calculation was within a Bee's ***** of the actual external calculation. As I have said before, if you drive the vehicle as a 2.7 tonne 4WD, you will get the suggested consumption figures. Drive it like a sports car and fuel will be more expensive.
  7. Why worry - 650 Nm is great - and why put the warranty at risk
  8. Hi Stephano I have had my Diesel 200 Sahara for a whole 10 days and have completed some good trips. I have to say that this gearbox is totally seamless, with it almost impossible to hear or feel the gear changes on or off road. The sequential 6 speed allows you to be very accurate and almost manual as you do your own changes. The power and turbos have been great. I have had 5 cruisers over 25 years and this is the most enjoyable gearbox so far. Also it has taken the pressure off and the "cruise control" is very accurate. I have now completed 3 fuel checks and the results have been pleasing - these are my own calculations with fuel used etc. Another pleasing factor is the the computor calculation by the vehicle is almost identical. 1. 256 kms - 50% city and 50% country 100 kph = 13.6 l/ 100 2. 348 kms - 20% city and 80 % highway 100 / 110 kph = 11.8 l/100 3. 210 kms - all at 110 kph freeway = 10.2 l/100
  9. Of course it is the Turbo Diesel
  10. Received my new Landcruiser 200 Sahara last Thursday. Today was the first chance for a good run and an actual "fuel consumption check". The result - 390Kms total, 40 around town, 75 at 110 Freeway speed and the rest country 100kms = 44.71 litres or 11.46/100, which I reckon is a good result seeing the 4X4 has only clocked a total of 644kms. The other good news is that the Computor calculated at 11.3/100 which is clearly accurate enough for reference. PLUS, PLUS = Beautiful to drive and enjoy.
  11. The more we go on the better I am feeling. By the time I get my 200 in early March, you guys will have it all sorted for me. Keep it rolling
  12. Dave K - Have a look at the other subject where the thread is all about the 6 speed gear box. Conehead has just tested today and the thread will give you the feel. Once the engine loosens up we think that you will get closer to the sales pitch - However, my view is that the 200 is so far ahead I will give up 1 to 3/100. Of course if it doesn't come close we must let Toyota know within the warranty period. That being said only 860kms from 138 litre is not acceptable - except if it was mostly in Cities then 18/100 can be expected and that would relate about 750kms from the tank. The model I am getting only had 92litres and I had better get around 700 kms out of it on the Highway.
  13. Ok. Just took my 200 V8 TTD for its first spin down the highway. I have to say that I was impressed. This is the first big run I had in it. I had the cruise set at about 105 kph and the tranny changed happily between 5th and 6th as the road conditions changed. Im VERY impressed. Conehead - You are making me salivate - I still have to wait until about the 3 or 4th March to pick it up - At the dealer 29/2. Currently I am envious, then we can both skite - All the best with the 200
  14. Sorry Mickey Tee - There are still in excess of 1,800 Shell Outlets, around Australia who are not operated by Coles - Just for exactness - Shell still trades Retail with these mostly independent dealers. Another point is that at some time in the future the Shell/Coles deal may fall over and as Shell own the properties they could come back to those outlets. For those who are Capital City Centric, they may not see these other Shell Outlets. My understanding is that every litre of fuel sold at Safeway Outlets is Caltex as well as Caltex accepting Safeway dockets at their major outlets. Caltex has the Safeway contract and the pumps are branded Caltex. Anyway the fuel you buy relates to the placement of the Refinery. In Victoria it is all Shell or Mobil, NSW it is Caltex or Shell, in WA most all is BP and South Australia who knows! Qld BP/Caltex. Just drop in a little additive (maybe)
  15. Sadly - Micky Tee should not have said that you are wrong - My reference is as an ex Shell Multi Site Operator and Distributor. Shell Australia is alive and well - Coles operates all Shell Owned outlets as a Franchisee of Shell - Shell own the properties. Basically Shell handed over all retailing to Coles. Caltex is exactly the same with Safeway except that Safeway did a deal and leases on top of the Caltes sites some 78 OPutlets from Liberty. Also as a differerence to Coles, Safeway built at their own cost a number of Outlets.
  16. Thanks Conehead and Biing - Just received a call today to say my new 200 will arrive at the dealers on 29/2 - Looking forward to it, having had a sedan for the past 20 months I really missed the 4WD - The stupidity is that I had 6 cruisers/Lexus4WD before I made the mistake of thinking that a sedan would be good. Have a good weekend
  17. I have been following the progress of the V14 maps on the Whereis site for several months. Initially, their site said that the V14 Denso version (Toyota/Lexus etc) would be available before Christmas but all that information has since been removed and the only vehicle data that is currently ready appears to be the Dayton version. I guess it must be close but it was obviously delayed for some reason (Note, I already have the V14 maps for the Tomtom in my other car - that was available a couple of months ago.) To whoever it was above who asked whether it would be free, I would say "in your dreams". Maybe for very recent cars but, otherwise, the going price appears to be around $350. I too would like Toyota's GPS to include speed cameras. Speed and redlight cameras are both standard on the Tomtom with an optional warning sound when you are approaching one. The Tomtom will also show you your actual speed vs the road's speed limit for major roads. If a $500 Tomtom can do all this, why can't a multi thousand dollar in-car version do the same? The Holden GPS system whist not as convenient to use with the remote, is excellent with a very good read out of your actual speed. Am a little disappointed that when my Sahara arrives it will not have the actual speed capability - On the Caprice the difference is 9kph at 110kph. Even so, having had the Toyota/Lexus GPS previously, I must say that the screen size is way better and the touch screen is great.
  18. I have just purchaced a LC 200 GXL TTD, (which I should get in about 10 days). When I took the car for a test drive, 110-115 seemed to be the magic speed for 6th gear to engage. I wonder if this is a programing issue or just ment for freeway driving.?? Thanks Conehead - Hope it is 110 kph or a little less with so many 100kph roads around, particularly in Victoria where taking liberties of more than 2kph can be very expensive. Those who suggest using NSW and other states 10% over the limit OK in Victoria do not understand the Viccy system or 2665 speed cameras
  19. If no one replied here, Either ring your dealer, go in or ask when you pick the car up. Just a suggestion! Cheers. Thanks - That was always the option, however thought there might be more Landcruiser activity on the site
  20. Just about to receive my new 200 series Landcruiser and I am wondering if the Rear Seats can be "easily" removed. In the 100 series it was jsut a catch and out they came. The photos of the 200 series makes the rear row of seats look very permanent, and takes away a lot of available room for those coping with only 4 or 5 passengers maximum. Any clues would be appreciated
  21. The article also said that 6th would not engage in manual until 120 kph as well. As a matter of interest - with Tow Pack, Head and Bonnet protectors and rear sensors - $100,121 and he said he would drop off the $121 - plus give free Floor mats and right side weather shield - you reckon that is a competative price????
  22. I am about to seal a deal to buy a Sahara 200 Diesel with 6 Speed Auto. Small problem is that Saturdays Herald-Sun (Melb) had a article which claimed that the 6th Gear would only engage at speeds above 120 kph. Therefore fuel economy on Highway was around 13.1/100. Is this a problem that others are aware of?
  23. I am just about to buy a Kluger Grande. However having had several 4WD (All Toyota) I was wondering how the Kluger AWD performs off road - definately NOT extreme, but run of the mill National parks, low creek fording etc. Any clues, because as a vehicle it seems to be spec'd up very well
