  1. I've driven a few cars in the Corolla class and I thought the NVH and general refinement to be at the front of the pack. This view is supported by Wheels mag as well. Styling didn't offend me and I agree the interior takes time getting used to. I would've like to see more soft touch plastics used in the car but centre console is 'unique' which is odd for a Toyota. Engine could use more pep but this maybe because I have an auto. Dynamically its better than I expected.
  2. Any possibility of a bulk buy discounts? Seems like a few of us are interested in the front garnish
  3. Does the front garnish fit right on top of the stock bumper? It appears to be dark grey in colour. Can anyone confirm this?
  4. My quote from JB was $80! Did you buy your deck from them or was it open for some haggling? I got my Pioneer single din deck, just need to book a install time. Where did you find the double-DIN pocket to fill in the gaps? I need this as JB cant supply one.
  5. Thanks for this guys, this is great advice. Do you think the installation of a new HU should coincide with a speaker upgrade? I dont want a subwoofer because I value boot space. Should I upgrade all 4 or just the front 2 speakers? A clean speaker install (like with like size) would be ideal.
  6. I actually went to the Toyota factory tour where I saw the Corolla sedan's being assembled! Pretty cool. It's actually put together in a few hours but the processes are simple = less complications = higher quality. Problems are identified on the spot and production lines halt until they are fixed.
  7. Thanks for your help, much appreciate it. Is there a integrated GPS/CD head unit that fits into a double-DIN anyone can recommend? Just curious of the price range.
  8. Hi All I would like to replace my stock CD head unit on my 08 ZRE Corolla. I find it unbearable that it swallows CD's and spits them back out at its leisure. I've done some research on the internet and its a common problem. I doubt given the age of the car, a replacement under warranty would rectify anything. So now I have an excuse to upgrade my head unit. I'm leaning towards some of the Pioneer/Alpine ones with MP3/iPod/USB connectivity. My questions are as follows: 1) Where can I get HU's installed at a good price? I'd rather leave it to someone who knows what they're doing. I'm located in Sydney metro region. 2) Given that the space is double DIN, will the installer be able to fit a gap filler as the stock HU is slightly wider? Will I have to source this myself? If so, where can I obtain this? 3) Should I be upgrading speakers? I've previously read here that the audio logic in the newer Toyota's are strange and replacing the HU will make the sound worse on stock speakers. Should I be matching brands with the HU? Thanks for your help guys.
  9. have you installed any of these? any differences noted from stock?
  10. i paid 23k flat for my auto ascent hatch im sure if you haggled hard you can get 22k
  11. wow so i can get a clock on the head unit? gotta try its good so that people wont bug me for the time as im the only person who could view it
  12. Hey Toduboi the tips look good but you didn't mention what got, ie cat-back or axel-back. I changed the exaust on my Yaris which was from the axel-back and a threw an engine checklight. I drove my car for about 50 to 80km before the light came on, has this happened to you? whats better? cat-back or axel-back? if im only concerned about sound as a priority, what should I be shopping for?
  13. nice one mate. how much did that cost you? btw would you be able to record a sound clip of it running?
  14. I want it to sound like the Alfa 4-cycl engines... something along those lines. Yes $600 for a muffler only is very expensive. The muffler is a unique design and shape though.
  15. I think that if the parts get installed by Toyota then it would not void your warranty, however I would advise that you ask your Toyota dealer before hand. I also think that it depends on the delear. For example, I think that Toyota has 3 or so TRD delears in Australia (correct me if im wrong) and maybe if you were to approach them they would be less hesitant on the topic. (make sure you ask the right person) Thanks for the tip, ill ask em next time I'm in for a service. not a pressing matter for me at the moment. Does anyone have opinions on the TRD Muffler? or even TRD vs. K&N for panel air filters???
