It all depends on how you have been driving before. With the KX-R, I always accelerate quickly to the speed I want and then cruise at that speed. I get good economy and it always picks the right gear. With the Grande, which my wife usually drives, it seems to be in a higher gear than I want and the economy isn't so good. When I have the Grande, I find that after about half an hour of a different driving style, it seems to be picking the gears I want and the economy improves. If you don't want the cruise to quickly accelerate to the previous speed when you resume, gradually accellerate yourself. It won't take over unless you are taking too long to get there.

I have a KX-R and a Grande. Tyre noise and ride quality are the same. Handling is hard to say as the KX-R is FWD and the Grande is AWD, but I think that the Bridgstones on the Grande are much better than the Dunlops on the KX-R. The Dunlops are fine as long as you don't accelerate.

Noticed as I was arriving at home this morning in the KX-R. The Grande is only about 100km behind. Time for the second 5 tyre rotation. They all look almost new, as they should because they don't grip. With the wet weather, I've found I can light the tyres up at around 90km/h on the freeway. I may need to get a second set of tyres for winter.

The ipod interface is supposed to work well, but I wouldn't know. I'm anti-ipod; I can't see the point. I have 2 USB ports I can use, instead of 1, because I don't have the ipod adapter fitted. I can search the USBs by album, artist and gendre so thats fine for me.

Yes but they are not fitted in the factory.. They are tacked on here and probably aren't even made by Toyota. They are dealer fitted. They are not fitted in the factory, they are dealer fitted. The sensors I have came with Toyota fitting and operation instructions and also had a Toyota part number, including paint code; different colours had different numbers as they come painted to match. I think some dealers may fit different sensors that don't come from Toyota.

I have front and rear on KX-R and Grande. Work fine. They are definitely from Toyota and the same on both models.

"Plain" style of the previous kluger - mmmm i think thats arguable.... I like it, but each to their own. Also not sure the Ford, Holden and Hyundai owners would be very happy with your post either. Hyundai have actually improved their build quality in leaps and bounds - so much so that the new santa fe is a serious competitor to the kluger. Cheers Matt I was just saying what I based my descision on, it's definitely not fact. Some people may agree with me and I'm sure that many won't. Some people can see the value of spending extra money on a badge. Hyundai have definitely improved when compared against other companies, not so much Holden and Ford. Style is totally subjective, so nobody is right or wrong.

But wheels would have used a Grande for the comparison so that they could say it was too expensive, even though it has more equipment.

Maybe, like myself, people were waiting for something in this class that wasn't a rip off (Volvo, BMW), too big(Mazda) and not low quality(Ford, Holden,Hyundai) and not too plain(previous Kluger). It is also an enjoyable car to own, which can be seen by the number of posts by owners.

I bought a Kluger Grande as our family car as we wanted a 7 seater with a bit of luxury and our other choices were more expensive, slower, not as good fuel economy, not as much space, and too long. I didn't want a proper 4WD, such as a Prado, because they drive and handle like a proper 4WD. The Rav4 wasn't even considered as it is not a 7 seater, not enough rear leg room (I have the drivers seat fully back and there is still plenty of leg room behind it), not much better economy and doesn't have as many features. I also bought a Kluger KX-R as my work car. Again, I didn't consider the Rav4 for similar reasons, but the main reason was that there was nowhere near the rear storage room as the Kluger; I can fit a stepladder in the back of the Kluger without folding the front seat forward. I don't think that many people buying a Kluger would have considered the Rav4 as they are not really intended for the same market.

I know the allowance over the limit, so I always use the GPS to make sure I am below it.

In the Grande, you can tell there is more power with RON95 instead of RON91. You seem to get the same power between RON95 and RON98, but better economy with RON98. In the KX-R, the economy is pretty similar with all grades, but the higher the RON, the more the wheels spin when taking off.

The Gen 2 Kluger has always had this. Don't know about Gen 1. What's considered Gen 1 or Gen 2? I got mine last year in 2008 August.. After August 2007 is Gen 2. Before that is Gen 1.
