  1. When I plan to get HIDs, I'm going to make sure that the HID kit that I get comes with a resistors which will help you from burning your current wiring that is in your car. I wonder though that in the base models all wiring would maybe be similar to ones found in the ZR which have HIDs which means that we would be well off... Nothing can beat a profesional install. If something goes wrong HID then you will always be covered for warranty.
  2. Tecnhically it's not the same engine... To start off, the engine has both variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust valves whereas before it was only on the exhaust. Also comparing the bore and stoke of the 1ZZ-FE models to the 2ZR-FE... 1ZZ-FE 79.0(bore) / 91.5(stroke) = 0.86338... (bore/strke ratio) 2ZR-FE 80.5 / 88.3 = 0.91166... This shows that the 1ZZ-FE is more of an undersquare engine compared to the 2ZR-FE(square engine). It also has a longer stroke so the new Corollas are higher revving engine which is why max torue is only reached at 4,400prm with 175Nm compared to the 1ZZ-FE 4,200rpm, 170Nm. So maybe the difference might be minor but who knows, maybe they are built more like the 1NZ-FE(Yaris) which has conrods like pencils or it could even be the total opposite with a boost thirsty engine that is waiting to be slapped with 12psi.
  3. For now I'm gonna say that I will not be at the cruise, as I have to collect my Aunt and Gran at the Airport. If they wanna take it easy and decide to sleep off their jet lag then I'll rush down and meet you all along the cruise. Enjoy it and be SAFE...
  4. Apart from my Kappa wheels that came from the dealer I have also added the Pioneer AVH-P6850... I haven't yet posted the short shifter kit that I have ordered as it is touch and go at the moment. According to the seller its a 90% guarenteed that it will fit. Once I recieve it I'll post some more for you all.
  5. +32 2ZR-FE Oh and I think Ashraf is now living in the states...
  6. I agree totoaly... I have changed my head unit to the Pioneer AVH-P6850 and I have found now that the speakers sounds worse. They don't sound good at all, the speakers were designed and tested to be used only with the factory head unit and nothing else. I'm upgrading everything eventually but I am doing my Audio in stages, so next for me are a set of 6" for the front and rears with a 4 channel running them... I would suggest that you change the speaker wire if you are going to run an amp through them, if not then you could leave them as is. Just remember that you could be under powering the new speakers if you do run it from the head unit, but this also depend on what speakers you intend on getting.
  7. To the spring thickness. Slightly heavier. My main aim is to just close the gap I have that is seen at the top of the tyre to the guard IE not be able to see thru ... if you know what I mean. I don't particularly want it down over the top of the tyres So you wanna close the gap but you don't want the wheels to "tuck" in under the guards... I think he means he doesnt want it that low that the tyres go under the guard ala lowrider. Yes heavier and thicker means stiffer it wont compress as easily as the originals which is natural because you dont want to smack into the bump stops.
  8. Make sure your hand-brake is up/on and as tight as possiable and give it a try... oh and it's not cause there is no power, just un-experienced thats all.
  9. thats one hot Aurion ... puts all commonwhores to shame any day of the week, great job. Hope to see a clip of it soon with the adjustable mufflers in action.

  11. Hey on an Aurion, chrome is just what it needs, but I don't like it when people put heavy chrome wheels on a WRX... its like slapping the engineer who designed the race bred car across the face. It's all about power to weight ratio and not bling factor. This is one sexy Aurion/Camry though... in my books, those wheels are so sweet, might be harder to drive but well worth it.
  12. Oh man... no thanks for the input from me :P just kiddin, It's really good to hear everyones opinion on this but at the end of the day the more you hear the more you become "little skeptical about dropping it ..." rubbing, and tyre sizes the list will go on and on about how they scrape over speed bumps. If and when you do go for a drop like pedders tell them that you want no rubbing or scraping... if they can't do it then go to another store.
  13. i'm gonna make this short and simple... Slap that B!tch to the floor, make its stomach kiss the ground!!!
  14. If there are no modifications needed I think you could get it installed for nothing more than 50 bucks or less, if it is a bolt-on then you could do it yourself. (AU)$310 is a good price but also depends on what you are getting... if it was a mandrel bent, stainless steel exhaust from the cat back then it sounds like it would be like a good deal but no one can tell unless someone becomes a guinea pig to see what the exhaust sounds like, or if it a direct bolt on. Best bet is to check with anyone on TOCA that has a TRD exhaust for their 9th Gen Corollas and see what they might have to say.

    HID

does have self-leveling dial, but i believe it needs to be automatic. there's a leveling sensor in the rear of the gen10 w/ factory HID's which will adjust the HID height automatically. Interesting... In the end we are better off having projectors with manual height adjustment than having no projectors with no height adjustment.
  16. Couldn't you get someone with a TRD Aurion to purchase the set of wheels for you.... Make up a lame excuse to TRD Toyota parts department about how some thug left your TRD Aurion on bricks, and get a friend with a TRD Aurion to use their VIN to purchase new ones. If you wanna make it even more legit and you know a Mechanic get him to order the parts through his business. Will I get arrested for saying this?
  17. hope all goes well, looking forward to seeing if there is any potential in the Dual VVTI engines... Thought i'd post a pic of the previous intake that CES made, (Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed) so just follow the link, CES Intake
  18. haha lol... Maybe when I start getting payed a little better. Any donations welcome! :P
  19. Just found out that the due to American SAE standards the Xd that has the same engine at the New Corolla is only 95kw. Kinda like it's detuned to meet emissions and stuff.
  20. I know for sure that the size of the headunits are the same with both the 9th gen and the new Corollas. I have replaced my HU with the Pioneer AVH-P680 and you will need spacers for both sides of the unit or you will have a gap, same goes with the 9th gen Corollas. So it really isn't a perfect fit if you think about it... In terms of the speaker size I haven't got to it yet, but from a little research I think its 6" (not 100% sure).
  21. I found this company that has been posting about the new XD mods that they have developed... the following is bits and pieces from the thread. "We have a dyno comparison between our stock 1.8L Dual VVTi motor (Scion Xd) and the same motor equipped with a new intake manifold, dedicated air intake, 2.5-inch cat back and (no cat) off-road pipe. The power output of the 1.8L jumped from 119 wheel hp (Dynojet) to 145 hp, the majority of which came from the new aluminum intake manifold" "The power gains depicted in the graph are for the intake manifold, CAI and exhaust mods, though the intake manifold alone on the VVTi motor increased the power output from 119 hp to 136 hp. We logged air/fuel on all runs and actually changes to MAF orientation was more critical than changes to the intake manifold. That MAF is very sensitive to changes in orientation. If positioned properly, the new intake manifold will not alter stock air/fuel curve. No piggy back tuning was needed." When I read it, I thought that it was great because similar changes to the new Corolla would also mean a good healthy change to the power/torque of the car. However these are two different cars and the Corolla is world wide and could of had a better design with the factory air box or exhaust compared to the XD? Can we compare the XD to the Corolla? Will similar mods to the Corolla also have the same effect due to the XD and Corolla having the same engine?
