  1. Have a look at Mobile Electronics Australia... http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/forums/ They have a Carputer discussion forum. Good luck!
  2. Okay, thanks for the info!
  3. Hi all; My Touring wagon has a full size alloy wheel spare. Did all the Gen 4s come with a full size spare? Was a space saver spare ever used? (I am thinking of switching over to a space saver spare, to allow me to fit a small subwoofer in the spare wheel well)
  4. Hi all; I am after a few Gen 4 parts - * Wagon rear cargo blind * Rear seat head rest x 1 * CD cartridge/magazine for Fujitsu CD stacker Thanks in advance!
  5. n00b questions: Is it unusual for a car to require so much suspension work at only 150K kms? Why might the suspension be so shot? I don't have a lot of experience with suspension, but I have owned a fair few different sorts of cars, and the most any of them ever required was a few new bushings.
  6. Hmmm, I guess any sound system is only as good as its weakest link. Maybe I'm just hoping that it's the speakers that are crap bec I really don't want to put in an aftermarket head-unit; I actually have a terrific audiophile head-unit sitting in my garage (it's an older Eclipse flagship unit - 16V line-outs, balanced lines, digital sound processor, parametric EQ etc), I just can't decide if I am happy to lose the stock look by installing it. And the Eclipse head-unit isn't even that blingy:
  7. Reliability Practicality Comfort Anonimity Previously owned a Camry Baby in the family Cheap comprehensive insurance - Comprehensive on my MCV20R wagon is over $1000 for the year on a maximum no-claim bonus! Even my wife's MCV36R Azura is nearly half that! Grrr...
  8. My Touring Wagon has the Fujitsu 6 CD stacker in the boot. Agree that the stock stereo set-up leaves something to be desired, but I suspect that has more to do with the crappy speakers than the head unit - Fujitsu Ten actually make sublime headunits under their "Eclipse" moniker, I would think that even these stocker head units would be of a reasonable standard if coupled to decent amps/speakers via a line-out converter, which is something I'm considering. I dislike the way that aftermarket decks tend to look completely out of place in the dash, especially in cars like the Camry where the interior is so bland to begin with...
  9. Perhaps the CD stacker was an option for that particular head unit. So your head unit has the ability to interface with a stacker, you just don't have the stacker itself...

Hi all; I'm a newbie to this neck of the woods, have just put down a deposit on a 2001 Camry Touring wagon - It's done a documented 66400 kms, so fairly low mileage, I'm wrapped! Hope to be picking it up from the dealer this weekend. My wife has a Gen V Azura which she LOVES (having come from a Mazda RX-8, she much prefers the Azura!), and my folks have a Gen V Altise V6, so we're no strangers to the good ol' Camry. Years ago we used to own a 1st gen Camry hatchback, I gave that car hell driving the daily 340km round trip from Newcastle to Taree and back for a while, it never even skipped a beat, apart from a flat battery once. Sadly, it was stolen, but always stuck in my mind as one indestructible little car!
