  1. ohh...sorry I didn't quite read it properly.. So in the single din headunit, there's 3 buttons "CD" "Tape" "Radio" ? right? Absolutely, that's it... but no CD in the boot or under the seat or anywere... must have been an option. I'v got one of those 'big' amps someplace... so I'll mount that, replace the f /r speakers and install a player, I guess... I do miss a sunroof though, I like to just pop the rear up, not fully open... but that's not going to happen. Maybe later I'll look into a later model and seek one out with the options I want... Don't really know enough about Cammies yet to know which model to go for... But the Gen 3 is a great car...I take the long way home :) Thanks u reply.
  2. Totally over it dude, you meant no harm... now we're mates and the whole things livened up some...all good, or totaly mad? forums can be pretty tricky, but just fantastic for putting all knowledge in one head.. as first year apprentice mechanic (not nowdays) on $17.50 / week took me 6 months to save $50 to buy a clapped out pink Morris Minor (sidevalve omg)... sprayed it British racing green and punched a hole in the muffler... had hundreds of cars since then, but it's forums that have allowed me to fast track the learning and meet some really fine folk...and have some great cars... bikes are my favorute though, especially muti-cylinder 2 strokes, .....fast forward!! :) Shared interests are great levelers, we can disagree and sort it out, thats what we did... Well done Nick... see u round.
  3. Yeah at least I got something right.. Wishy and I have had our wrestle & we're mates (for) now...:) hell I might even let him wear my cardigan... he can't be all bad, drives a cammy after all, and one of our best active members, *** bless im... Thanks Tayles, takes extra to step forward... especially in a positive way Only for that, I'll stay on... I'm into Toyota these days, just bid on another cammy, that'll be 4 omg Daughter snapped up the 'cool' 5 speed 3vz 'hottie', suits her... sent me an sms, said she loves it...brrr-vrummm brr-vrummm (magnaflow)... she can have it. I've tagged the Vienta... even put the Bimmer away, for a while And use the 2.2 auto take the dogs to the park... not dog hair in the vienta, thank you!! so even our dogs have a Cammy, hows that for comittment!!
  4. Seems to be a weak link on these 10 yr car with say 200k plus... Simple enough to remove and have pressure tested, for hardenss and straightness as well... only take the troubled head of, naturally... then replace as you would any other alloy head motor... heaps of data on net for diy re: timing belt and tensions etc.. Since it is common, seems a good way to pick up a bargain, once repaired you know what u got, all fresh and clean to go.. not bad and it's just nuts and bolts if your familiar with that sort of thing, it's doable. Care with cleaning out ALL fine alloy particles after head shave if water jacket has to be welded... My radiator was 80% blocked...10K after head job with alloy particles caused to re-heat.. lets us know progress, I interested.
  5. this is what you call a "cold start" there is a way to minimize cold start. buy those engine electric blanket, really useful when temperature is minus. Maybe I can use my cardigan
  6. no worries, it's really about the cars... when you get you'r 3vz you can have my Magnflow for free... no selling on this site :) and too loud for this red duck anyway...
  7. Apology accepted, If I had know you were that young I wouldn't have bothered kicking your ****... since it would prob make no difference anyway... usually if some clown gets out of place on a forum, we let them know. otherwise the forum becomes a joke... where just a few people post in...sound familiar. Your nanny attitude will kill this forum, just look how diverse and busy the posts are not... The 'young and dumb' thing was from the movie, nothin personal...were some clown allways mouths off... And thanks for the 'warning' about whipcracker, I will be real real carefull what I say I wouldn't want to be out the dizzo for messin with him... whatever that is.. I would never have known... I thought he seemed like a regular helpful sort of guy, that knows about Camrys... I'll be sure to give him 'lots of respect', thanks for the tip big fella... My original post was about rear mufflers for gen3... I said I had a magnaflow on my 5 speed 3vz... and I thought it was a try hard waste of space stupid lookin drone machine... Your advice was I get a magnaflow...derrr Thanks for the 'advice' not... so lets not hide behind, just giving advice... if you were out of line and full of it, then just say so, and gain some respect of your own... Your young, so what, aren't we all at some stage... and u love your cars like the rest of us, that's great... If your smart, and you probably are, then remember the 3 l's... look listen & learn and then your 'advice' will be worth something... And this can become a really good ozzie forum, like a lot of the others I contribute too...
  8. oh ok... saves me a lot of mucking about... guess Toyota know what their doing, and plenty of 3vz out there... if anything, all is well then... thanks guys for input... I love the motor, so smooth and heaps of power. I have a full tank and I'm doing an accurate consumption test, only mod is swiss cheese but I'm looking for a nicer sound from the rear muffler... I guess you know all about that one :)
  9. He didn't mention that all you're doing is trying to get your post count up... Well actually that is just exactly what he was implying... quote: whishbone: you don't need to get your post up. end quote. then references to some site for instant selling... Actually there is a buy and sell section in this forum... unless that is what Boost Cruising is.. but I am not here to sell or buy anything, that has never been an issue for me. It's good to stick up for your mates, I know, but his post was out of order, not mine...
  10. hell yeah I agree, my post was about the rear muffler, no mention from about selling anything!!! and all the other crap he was on about, you tell me... I love advice, I learn that way... but I prefer from those that actually really do know what they are talking about... the question, if you go over it, was pretty simple... and I'm the bad guy!!! your lighthearted attitude is a credit to you... mature brain and developed heart are evident in our speech and actions.
  11. thanks the tip, I'll try that. and I'll try to find how it starts so high...2k rpm... totaly not necessary and i'll disable that function.
  12. oh ok I know the short induction tube... yes I will run a 'pick-up' to a high pressure area to gain some ram effect... by the way the engine develops power I think most gains will be thru re-mapping the ecu maybe adding a simple resistor to the o2 sensor wire, car thinks it is still not fully warm and richen the mix and advances the ignition... it wouln;t take much but I don't read anyone doing this sort of thing in this forum ...yet
  13. well for the first 5-7 klm it sat midway, then slowly rose to just below red, then I pulled over... Update; Just put the radiator back in after the shop removed the tank and cleaned it out... he said it was 80% blocked, that they do a lot of 3vz engines with some 200K... so watch for it, easy to check, warm motor and feel the inside of the radiator fins... should be uniforly hot just cost $100... lot cheaper than head job.
  14. Thanks, yes my Vienta has cruise, which is a great feature... but no actual CD... although is mention on the console?? I'm happy with the set-up, if it had a sunroof and electric windows it would be perrfect.. I'v got leather seats in another car, it is overrated... back bar still needs upgrading... whiteline, and so cheap... comeing soon thanks reply
  15. As mentioned allready, I allready have a magnaflow on the v6 manual, and like I allready said, it is too loud for my liking, I'm not all that into drone... do u use a Lukey or a magnaflow?... No I don't think it would be easier to put all my queries into one post, I think issue are easier addressed individualy, as they can be handled effecively in isolation that way... is the answer to your question. I am not 'desperate' to sell anything... there are local classifieds, ebay and specific ale forums sfor me to take advantage off if i want to... I have address this issue allready. I find your attitude and manner both rude and unecessary, sounds as if you are quite young, as they say, young and dumb. How can multiple post about different topics become annoying, this forum has hundreds of posts, just imagine how anoyed you must be, if it that hard for u to cope, then just butt out!! I am not trying to 'gain' post, my queries are relevant, each post is legitimate... it is your inability to cope for whatever reason I don't know, that is the problem... more specificaly, your problem. Lets put it to the forum... If they want me to stay with the forum or not post in the forum as you indicate. Read my next post: I will be guided by the members wishes, and I will not be taking your bad mannered and foolish advise... Any offense should be tacken as self inflicted. I you see am a registered member of this forum, this is not your personal forum, eigther you have a leitimate answer or you zipp it... is that clear and simple enough for you, mate...
  16. ok it sounds very electrical... but I don't think it will be ecu, with 'that' sort of problem sounds more like regular spark break down... Rev the thing at night with no light and you may see a short ...spark jumping from high resistanc in lead or coil it may be bad plug, easy and cheap to put in new set... it may be bad lead, if they are old if you can induce the 'miss' while stationary, pull the leads off one at a time to try to identify which pot is not firing... elimination is an easy way to find the prob... it will be easy to find and fix can only do so much on the net...
  17. I know motor 3vz is the same but what 'extras' as standard do the different models have... I would like climate control... instead of juggling the 'heater' with air on... I read the V- touring has firmer suspension...( but still needs a r/ bar) And does anyone know the kg weight of these cars... Petrol consumption is largely to do with driver habits... I really like these cars, I have 3 now... a v6 manual a Vienta Auto and a nice 2.2 auto, boy is that good on fuel. the manual is great fun but the Vienta is sooo nice and quite and pretty goey as well... Now I'm looking for the right combination and modifications to suit me...
  18. Car is sooo quite, I'd rather enjoy some nice engine working hard sounds... my manual has a magnflow / 2.5inch and sound really mean but is too much for everyday... Anyone found a nice compromise, say a lukey or whatever on a standard system to replace the factory rear muffler... Plenty of reader of these post but same 2 -3 do all the posting, how is that... If you got a good sound happening then let us know... Thanks...
  19. What do u mean?..are you trying to say, it woun't rev any higher?... describe what you mean by dodgy, use more words, help us help u... It could be your fuel pump is packing it in, and motor staved for fuel at high revs simple , just check fuel pressure...
  20. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showforum=17 Copy that, rules are part of the right of entry... I agree with that, and the originator will have good reason ok... Thanks...
  21. If she is getting another car, then just call the metal recycler or advertise it for $200 or ebay it... sv21 is only worth $500 max... too old now, move to a gen3... 92 - 96 buy for about $1500 - $4000 much safer in a crash and heaps better anyway... just walk away from it... if you fix it, it will still be a fixed up sv21... I would just move on, life is too short.
  22. Fuel or spark or air fuel: blocked fuel filter on old car, making it starve... change filter, only cheap anyway spark: maybe just a bad or old plugs, maybe old - bad leads, air: try without your airfilter, may be totaled... Is it a single spark miss or a shut-off should be easy to find prob... very much dought ecu.
  23. since the moyor had no 'miss' and the water was not'low' after being so hot, I thiught, funny... hummm and so ren hand over radiator and pasenger side was COLD... The top tank hhad been done 15k ago and was blocked again allready... Hope that helps someone... I nearly took the heads off :)
