  1. I've been looking for a MCV20R Azura for about two years now and a low k example in decent condition is like finding rocking horse excrement and chicken teeth simultaneously. I've found one in two years that looked like it was half decent only to find it had been side swiped on the side that wasnt shown in the pics.
  2. Hmm, I suspect that finding a wrecked MCV20R or MCV30R ES300, (especially a late one) and stealing the Engine looms and ECU would be the best way to go. from memory here in aus they were the only variants of the 1MZ-FE available with VVT-i and in the later revision of the MCV30R it got a tweak of +5kW or so. I'm in SA so i'm no help but thought tis info might help target your search better
  3. I'd love to hear a recording of it. looks beepin nice. I'd fit that to my SXV20R if i could. not priced too badly either.
  4. that sounds correct, Trentmeyer23.
  5. darn, had I known this was on I would have extended my stay in sydney another day or so. as it turns out i was in bed dead to the world back home in SA at the end of it.
  6. ahh, fudge. I havent logged in to this site since 2011 and boy was i missing a ton! (tl;dr - had a big crash and thouhg I had lost my login credentials) pity it's friendface based now. always prefer to keep it neat and tidy in the forum but, oh well. looking forward to the next cruise hopefully i'll be able to come along.
  7. I'm considering importing one from the US. and installing it in a 4.5 MCV20R Touring which I'll have also have full climate installed into. only prob is finding a decent candidate. (lots of junky/dodgy history ones in the east) once i acquire the actual car I'll round out the package with a TRD kit. I'm told you can use a Ford supercharger pully on one of these to pull insane amounts of power but no-one seems to know much about it.
  8. I'm keen, however I do suspect that I'm a little late to the party.
  9. some details would help, heck we might be able to help u there.
  10. You're no S2000... :P no that's true (mmm, S2000) however i would like to attempt the S2000 aerial mod on it, that would work i should think.
  11. it's a second gen 3SGE, for some reason toyota has the tacho maxing out at 9k and it actualy stops indicating at 7,5k. weird. ahh well, at least we know our cars are heaps of fun.
  12. Indeed he is as am I. 1989 ST162 (3SGE) 2.0L Liftback. recently has copped a new clutch, steering pump and hoses (so much better!) Next up.... new shockers, maybe some expensive ones? some minor retrimmming and perhaps i'll get another shifter as the short shift kit that it has in there atm is just slightly too short (perhaps a different knob would solve the prob?) re topping with a fresh clear coat. should be fun!
  13. Hey, I've noticed a rather paltry presence of Landcruiser topics so i thought i might iniate a presence. My Father has a 2001 model Landcruiser 100 series base model it has copped a few mods including: -Old Man Emu shocks and springs (aka OME made by ARB) -2 1/2" body lift kit -GXL model steel rims -an early ARB Bull bar. -a Kaymar Right Hand Side Wheel Holder (gets it away from where it's vulnerable) -Sunvisor, Tinting and grille/ headlight protectors. -Long Range fuel tanks (yet to be fitted) -an Aftermarket Mitsubishi Watercooled Turbo (with the complimentry ARB turbo timer) -Hella Driving and Fog lights -Aluminium sidesteps.
  14. Looks good i'd do a mild restyle to make it a touch more aggressive then put it on the market. pity they have'nt done that though....
  15. In Adelaide 4WD '97 hilux models that are worse for wear are still fetching $12,000 easy. you would probably need to get quotes from various insurers. AAMI QBE Allianz SGIC etc. i also strongly recommend off road insurance and full replacement cover. make sure you do your home work and have all the neccesary kit for when you get caught out which can happen easy. otherwise, i hope you have a swell time in this, our big brown land. "Good Night and Good Luck" - Edward R. Murrow (and the Queen before him)
  16. Hmm, i have heard of this also. check out your fuel pump. check all your electrics try to verify all of the other problems you might find in a similair situation. My mmate recently did a similair thing in his D4D Hilux, when you do regular water crossings, you might want to maintain your vehicle. (my mate is a tool to say the least)
  17. Pity, the Carryboy canopies despite there price, really are worth the money. My best friend got one on his '98 Hilux in 2004, he's done Cape York twice the Flinders on four seperate trips and central Australia. it has'nt even let dust in all that time. great quality with those units and they look the goods as well. Personally i don't like the TJM/ARB canopies as they are too blooming tall.
  18. you don't want much do you? first off get on to Toyota Australia and see what they can do. they should at least have access to the database. then try and get the rego details etc. for it and run that by Toyota (where ever is applicable) if you've got no luck after that then.....
  19. Ahh, the good old Rollux erm, hilux Marks 4WD adapters have one that they use as a promo vehicle. it's got the supercharged 3.8L Ecotec motor in it. personally what i'd like to se would be somthing like the 3.0L D4D motor or even the new 70 series Turbo diesel V8. maybe even a diesel donk from VM Motori
  20. NGK i think does some really fantastic iridium sparkplugs not sure if they got a version suitable for you but they are great. in my forester it fattened up the torque curve and transformed the character of the engine. improved ecenomy of 12% too.
  21. there are a few things it could be.... I'd start by getting wiring diagrams etc. and going through you dash with a fine tooth combe. then engine bay etc. fuses and all your important measuring modules as well.
  22. actually your's sounds like a pretty neat little jigger
  23. I got the 1988 model ST162 with the 3S-GELC motor and the Heavy Duty 5 speed box. few probs though.... steering pump/rack needs replacing Clutch needs replacing Need to fix a part in the upholstery of the drivers seat that was cut out. Shockers are on their way out too..... and it needs a radio (not that i'm inclined to actualy use it. I got 17" wheels on mine. It's also been tinted and has a short shift kit in it (last owner) all in all should be a good little jigger.
