  1. Yeah my frend did that too once and his gearbox and engine fell off. It didn't affect his 1/4 mile time though so all good.
  2. my 03 sportivo idles high min 1100 to 1500rpm after i've thrashed it when its at full temp. That cant be normal can it?
  3. My car wouldn't start today, so i replaced the battery fine for a while now its doing the same thing (not starting). If the alternator is gone would it stop charging completely or is it gradual, cos when i put the multimeter on with the car running its at about 12.6 to 13v. i know 13.7 is normal. And sometimes it starts, but today on idle with aircon running it completely dies. What do you boys think? Thanks Pex
  4. My stivo has had 80,000 ks of handbrake corners and hard driving. its rare that i change 1>2 under 7k rpm. and i often do silly crap like burnouts and 7k launches. and im still on my original clutch (still no slip) and original rotors. I cant believe how reliable its been. touch wood. Compared with my old xr6 that lived at my mechanic until i had enough and sold it.
  5. that looks exactly like flexible flue. the type we use on gas heaters. its readily available at plumbing suppliers and comes in 75mm,100mm and 125mm diameters. the length is normally 3 meters which you can cut to size. I don't know how well the air would travel though cos it has a ribbed interior wall which would cause a great deal of turbulence thus slowing down the air velocity. Rigid smooth walled cai would be the way to go.
  6. how come is that? sedans insulate against the noise in the boot better. ie fixed parcel shelf as opposed to the thin cloth the hatch has. in saying that i wouldn't swap my hatch for any sedan or wagon.
  7. all the 2zz's ive heard have a distinctive sound on idle.. a bit like a diesel (but obviously quieter)
  8. i bought a cheap cai off a member off this forum. paid $70. cant go wrong. the induction noise is awesome. as for performance, i guess the trd cai might give you half a kw extra. but horses for courses.
  9. nice figures mate... but what does a dyno sheet really prove.... id like to see your quarter mile pass with the new mods... i think that is the only true test of how well your mods are working. peace pecks
  10. it would be very simple for an auto elec or if your handy yourslelf... i used to have a mate who was an auto elec who did this on my old ef fairmont... all he did was use a relay that he wired to the indicator and then just ran power direct from the battery... and presto it took him about an hour all up and that even included a little switch hidden in the glove box to turn them off if i required.
  11. far out, i cant believe the syncros are stuffed already... my stivo has 45000 very hard km on it but no probs yet. fingures crossed. did you all get your cars serviced at toyota? cos i never have so im a bit worried if my sycro goes they wont want to fix it.
  12. hey fellas when is this dyno day actually on?
  13. oh boy, its hotting up it up tonight. anyone seen the TOC fire extinguisher?
