  1. Hi all, I'm looking to get my car tinted and was hoping you could give me some recommendations? I have a black corolla sportivo 03. Best place to get it done? Darkest legal? Probable price? Thanks all, Cornrolla
  2. Well, I rang AAMI again to get a quote with mods (acting like i already had them). It was 940 as opposed to 630 for a stock stivo (for me). So since i only got a stock one (so far hehehe) I'll just apply for that, and then tell them about the mods later. The AAMI guy said that there shouldn't be that big a discrepancy in price, so he recommended that course of action too. So cheers for the info all, much appreciated... still would be interesting to see what others have in terms of insurance... looks to me like aami is the cheapest upfront.
  3. Um, where did you hear this? Because I can't find it on their link...
  4. I should just mention, i'm 21 (sooo old!! lol) and my quote full comp with aami was 635... RACQ etc was 1300+. But aami, when I rang them, said I could only have 1 mod. How did you aami customers get all your mods and still go with them? Do you think your mods affected your cost much? cornrolla
  5. Hey all, So I got my 03 Sportivo several weeks ago, but am yet to get insurance. I was about to go with AAMI today, but upon ringing up found out that they only allow one mod. period. not cool, since i had a few things planned So I have several questions...since I noticed just about every tivo owner on here has several mods (and then some lol) Who are you with? Why? Price? Service? How much (if you don't mind me asking) How many mods can you have with them? Premium costs? Age of driver? Any other important info? I searched the forum and noticed that there wasn't a post specifically dedicated to full comp insurance rates for sportivos, so here it is Obviously this post is for those with corolla sportivos mainly, and with full comp insurance :) I'm in Bris/QLD btw, so esp anyone in the area, plz tell me your choice and reasons! Thanks guys, cornrolla
  6. well, i've rang all the usual places - autobarn, repco, supercheap - and they said they couldn't find a part no for that yr, only for previous years. one of them said they had a universal one though. anyway, i checked myself - went to bosch website and looked for the part through their brochures... they were right, i could find a part no. only for previous years, not from 01-up. not cool. i'm wondering whether a universal will be as effective as the genuine... but you pay more than double installed (400) for the genuine. thoughts?
  7. i haven't got it yet, but probably a universal one. i'm looking on the bosch website to try to find a part no. how many wires can you connect up to in the corolla? do the spare wires just hang there? do you know of anyone who has a universal one, and what do they think? (sorry about all the q's!) Depends, anywhere from 2 to 5 depending on what sort of O2 sensor it is. Did you get one specifically for your car, or a universal one?
  8. thanks for that hero, i couldn't get through to them but found an autobarn store at lawnton which did have the part. how many wires does the o2 unit have btw?
  9. yes, i am in brisbane (north). would that be possible, random hero? lol, i should be able to install one i hope hahaha. i know toyota has them in stock, but if you have contacts, i'd really appreciate it. They'll be able to order them in though. Where are you located? If you're in Brissy I can track one down for you. It's really, really easy to change over - any idiot that can wield a spanner can do it (not insinuating that you're an idiot :P)
  10. has anyone had to put a new 02 sensor in? i'm ringing around atm and it seems like the toyota genuine one is the only one... repco/autobahn etc say they don't have one on stock
  11. also, is it a safety cert requirement to have the 02 sensor working? because it wasn't when i got it, and i'm wondering whether the mech did a dodge job...
  12. Random Hero, where do you get them from? Sorry, I have no idea about cars, just that I love my tivo lol You can buy them new for <$100, I can't see any reason why you'd really want to go for a second hand one.
  13. Hi All, I purchased an 03 Corolla Sportivo yesterday and paid in full :D It's a dream I had for years, so I was very happy. Until I noticed the engine light go one, you know the one in the manual which says, 'take to dealer immediately'. So I range the bloke I bought it off - he said that the light had been on for 6 mths, he took it to the Skyfleet Kedron and they said it wasn't a critical issue, that it would be 100ish to fix. He told me to go there and check if I wanted. I didn't notice this light during test drive btw, stupid I know. So I rang them, and yes, they had his (mine now, hehe) corolla on their system and mentioned the Oxygen sensor unit. Said it wasn't urgent but should be fixed to improve performance, and quoted me almost 400. 300 for the part and 100 for the install. My question is: Should the safety certificate have picked this up? Or does this not matter for a safety cert? Is there anywhere cheaper or should I get it done at Toyota? I rang Repco and they said they didn't have the part for the tivo model no :( What should I do? Is it necessary to fix this immediately? Obviously the ex-owner doesn't care because he has his money, but its kinda dented my tivo buying experience. It seems lowering will have to wait sigh lol. Thanks for you help guys, Jus
  14. Hi all, I hope i put this in the right section... I want to know if there are h-gates made for corollas... so you can see what gear you're in... older model cars used to have them. if so are they expensive and hard to get? I want one because I'm not very confident driving manual... lame i know, but I'm just starting Sorry if this is unclear, I put a pic below. Jus
  15. Thanks for that mate - should brush up on my graphic skills lol. I dunno... white's prob better for the hot brizzy climate... but i always wanted a black car. we'll see
  16. Hey all, So the opportunity's arisen to buy a sportivo rolla, but in white. All good but I had my hopes on a black one, like below. I was hoping someone could post the pic up with a white car and these rims or photoshop it?? plz?? I'd do it myself but my skills at that are lame. Do you think the rims would suit a white rolla? Or can u suggest a set better (in silver/chrome)? Thanks guys, J (Apologies to the owner for use of your photo - just a fan)
  17. cheers for all the replies folks, is there really any difference between chrome wheels and silver? i see how shadow is different (duh), but the other two? Because I'm looking on the 7 day tyres website and there's a $400 price difference!
  18. Hey all, Just wondering if anyone on here has Koya rims? What size, and what's their durability like? Do you need to be extra careful? Also, I went to the Tempe Tyres website (thanks to the member who directed me btw) and I was wondering whether the rims on there are made by them? Because I looked up two of the manufacturers on the actual rim (HP 'Fusion' and Warwick) and I couldn't find any relevant info. Reason I'm asking is on both of these sites there is a similar rim that I probably will get, depending on price and your experiences with them. Incidentally, does anyone know where I can purchase Koya rims in QLD? Do I need to get them shipped up? Cheers J
  19. smithy - 1988 Integra, looks ok and great for its time but the word from the mech. to fix all the niggling problems will cost me a new car:( though i wanted a rolla anyway:) haha. what are coilovers btw? (new to this cargame...)
  20. Hey all, My mechanic told me today my lil Honda is about to die, so in preparation for it's funeral I've been researching the 05 Rolla more. I want to put on rims and lower it - not too exxy I hope. I want to get something like this car (member here too). (I just want to apologize for posting a picture of the member's car without their authorisation - not my intention to offend, just an admirer. I'd ask them but I forget who it is). Also, do I need new shockies if lowering a car (assuming pretty low but not max lowered)??? What's a good brand of springs? How much did it cost you to lower your rolla? (if you don't mind my asking) Can you still drive comfortably, or are you forced to be extra careful in certain areas? I'm a bit torn between the above style rim and the below one - still dunno whether the clean look is better than the more race-ish one. What's your pick of the two? (apologies once again) I'd really appreciate the help based on your experiences, thanks everyone Corn-rolla
  21. So northy, you're pretty happy with your 03? any gripes? fantastic car btw!!!
  22. so let me get this straight... you CAN get the torque hole in the 03 fixed? is that expensive? or did the factory recall do that already? if i'm buying a second-hand 03 (not that i've made my mind up haha) will it come with the hole fixed? sorry bout all the questions but i just wanna be sure. btw anyone on here have 19 inch rims?
  23. Is there a significant power difference though due to the torque displacement? btw what's the biggest rims you can put on a corolla without hindering the drive quality?
  24. Hi all, New to the site and looking at getting a corolla sportivo. Just browsing this site is making me want to get one even more, these cars are seriously nice!!! Anyway, I've been reading reviews of the 03 sportivo hatch and the 05 sportivo hatch from various places, eg carsguide, trading post etc. The only criticism seems to be that the 03 is lacking in mid-range torque - but i like the look of this hatch better!!! So I have some questions... 1 To the 03 sportivo owners, is the 'lack' of torque really that much of an issue? What about compared to the 05 model? 2 Can you put the same mods on either 03 or 05 models eg aftermarket grill, side mirror indicator lights? 3 Can you get the 03 sportivo reconfigured with mid-range torque? I heard somewhere you can... 4 Which is the better STOCK car? I'd really appreciate replies from both 03 and 05 owners, it would be great if you have driven both!!!! Cheers J
