  1. That "oil" is utter garbage.
  2. I have a 2011 Touring that I bought in 2012 as a demo (13 000klms) and have been using HPR 5 5W-40 (Full Synthetic) every 10 000klms (around once per year) and so far so good.
  3. So say this product does what it claims. What about grip? Surely the gain in longevity would come at the price of losing grip? You could be turning your tyres into roller skates, particularly in the rain. No thanks
  4. Sales related story from when I was looking to buy an Aurion back in 2011. I call them regarding a particular car and the salesman suggests I put a "holding deposit" of $500 on the car so that they don't sell it until I can give it a test drive. Stupidly, I agreed to put down $200. He had initially asked for $500. I turn up on the Saturday, a few days later, test drive the car and find that the suspension is too firm for my liking; being that its a Sportivo model. Yes, I know, Sportivo "sports" .... the irony (it was a Toyota). I tell the salesman that the suspension is not to my liking and ask whether I can look at the new-demo non-Sportivo models of the same car. He seems pleasant enough and handballs me to another salesman. Salesman B then has the attitude of "You're going to buy a car today aren't you", trying to use the leverage of the holding deposit. I test drive the non sportvo model but the asking price is too high. Salesman C; the supervisor is then trying to convince me that the non Sportivo, "Touring" model that I test drove has the SAME suspension as the Sportivo. If that's the case then why is the Touring called a Touring and not a Sporivo? The suspensions ARE different. I then spend close to two weeks of sending emails and making phone calls before my $200 deposit is returned. What a bunch of clowns. Never going back. Ever.
  5. Ok, I am guessing that the rear sway bar on the Touring is slightly thicker?
  6. I have a question regarding the Aurion suspension setup that I have wondered about for quite some time. Other than the bigger wheels (17inch vs 16inch) are there any other differences between the suspension setup on a 2011 Aurion Touring compared to an Aurion ATX or even the higher spec models. Not the SX6 or the ZR6 as I am pretty sure that the setup on these is different.
  7. Something like this? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CLEARANCE-SALE-TOYOTA-AURION-CAMRY-2009-OEM-TYPE-LED-DRL-FOG-LIGHT-COVERS-/231493261240?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item35e612d7b8
  8. Ok, this is going to sound a little crazy but I think my 2011 Aurion Touring is doing few odd things as far as fuel use goes. I do about 95% suburban driving and typically fill up with 91 RON Shell fuel. From time to time I will fill on 98 RON or 95 RON Shell fuel but have not noticed any particular difference in the fuel economy. If anything, the 91 RON seems to be the most economical, the 95 RON next and the 98 RON least economical (in L/100klms used) This is counter to what one would expect right? Unless I am imagining things. I will monitor this more carefully and see what I come up with.
  9. IMO, the cup holder recesses should be about an inch deeper. They would then hold items more securely.
  10. Where did you get the horns from? Cost? I was looking at Stebel horns a while back and was thinking of getting a nice, loud one for my Aurion for those times when you need to give someone a nice blast.
  11. I was getting annoyed with the chirping/beeping that my 2011 Aurion Touring was making when I was using the key fob to Lock and Unlock my car. One beep to lock, two beeps to unlock. I asked the guys at Gary McMillan Toyota about this when I took it in for a service some time ago .. and the guy quoted me something like $140 to get it "reprogrammed" or whatever they do. Today I was out and drove past LeMans Toyota in Deer Park, on the way back I stop in at LeMans and spoke about the issue with one of the guys in the Service Department. He goes and gets a Technician who plugged some contraption into the plug at the bottom right hand corner of the dashboard. A few minutes later; fixed. No more beeping/chirping when locking/unlocking the car. The charge? Nothing ! Awesome .... so a BIG thumbs up for LeMans Toyoya in Deer Park. Sorry Gary McMillan but I think that LeMans just got a new customer when it comes to getting their car serviced.
  12. Agreed... The sportivo is wrecked by the ultra sqaure rear end but more by the excessive use of the black plastic grooved sections in the front & rear bumpers Yes, every time I see those rear plastic grooved sections I can't help but wonder about what the hell they were thinking. Maybe back in the 80's it would have looked cool, but on a "modern" car? Ughhhhhhhh. From the rear, I find that even the mufflers are too visible. Poor effort really.
  13. In my humble opinion, as far as the current range of Aurions go, the Touring looks better than the Sportivo models.
  14. Question. As far as the 2011 SE Touring goes; they have 17 inch rims. Other than that, is the suspension the same as the ATX ? I would be suprised if the Touring had the same suspension as the SX6 and/or ZR6.
  15. Anyone ... anything? Hello ......hello ......hello........ hello .........
  16. After much thought and having asked around a bit on how to remove them, I bit the bullet and decided to remove the weathershields from my Aurion today. It was about a 20 - 30 minute job, taking care not to break or damage anything. They were on the car when I bought it and are original Toyota ones. I'm pretty sure they are the same as the weathershields on SATORI893's Aurion. Most of the double sided tape came off the car, leaving behind some residue and a bit of tape. Is scotch 700 adhesive cleaner easy to get hold of; or can anyone recommend something else that can do the same job? I just found that I wasn't really getting any benefit from the weathershields as I rarely drive with the windows down. They did seem to create some noise when driving at higher speed and in theory make the car slightly less aerodynamic (though I am NOT expecting any change/difference in fuel consumption; hehe). Perhaps the one benefit that I was finding with the weathershields is feeling more confident in being able to leave the windows open an inch or so in hot weather or when parked at home and letting the interior get some air or cool down in the heat.
  17. Is there anyone in the West or North of Melbourne that would be able to do work on making an Aurion quieter on the road? Sometimes I am quite surprised at how noisy my Aurion can be. Granted, it is mostly tyre roar on co**** roads but even the engine noise can be intrusive. I dare say that my old 1996 Camry was a quieter car, particularly when it was relatively new.
  18. +1 It would look better/cleaner without the scoops in the bonnet.
  19. As a precaution against theft of items from my Aurion's boot; I had followed the procedure on page 24 of the Aurion owners manual and deactivated the cars internal boot release lid. This is done by putting a key into the boot lock while the car is locked and turning the lock counterclockwise. This means that the boot will only open with pressing the boot lid button on the remote or with a key used on the boot lock. Recently, I have thought of re-activating the internal boot release lever and have tried turning the boot lock back to where it originally was, but this has not activated the internal boot lever. The manual seems to make no mention of what to do to re-activate the internal boot lever. Any ideas on what I should do?
  20. I like the look of the Ataras above, except for the two vertical bits that are located on the lower grille below the number plate. I think the car would look better if these were further apart, say where the outside of the foglights begin.
  21. Surely it all comes down to personal preference and budget, Get what you like and can afford. Please yourself because you can't please everyone.
  22. They knew exactly what they were doing in that they were running late, rushed and tried to give it a quick fix until I noticed and then hopefully it would become someone elses problem on a different day. If anyone wants to know the dealership, message me and I will let you know.
  23. Well, I took my Aurion in to a well regarded suspension specialist in North Melbourne, I explained the issue and he had a look at it and did a wheel alignment; charged me a damn good amount for it too (expensive). Apparently I can take it in after 5000klms for a free check ... will see about this. I am hesitant to do any more work through this guy as my wallet can take only so much of a beating. The ride under acceleration does seem less "squirelly", so I guess the alignment did help in some respects. What I am finding is when I am on a flat road, the steering seems fine; BUT when the road drops off on the left (to the gutter for rain to wash off the road) then I am driving with the steering wheel tuned to the right; and this is on a straight road. Frankly I am getting really over this crap and I am tempted to write a letter to the owners of the dealership that I bought the car from; particularly as their last "fix" to the problem was to reduce the tyre pressures on the drivers side a few psi lower than the tyre pessures on the passenger side. Yeah ... great fix that is. I took the car to the mechanic that used to service my old Camry and he suggested I try Pedders. Another thing that has been annoying me about the car lately is the fairly tight headroom. I am 6ft tall (182cm) and I guess I have a fairly long torso. If I sit straight in the car, the top of the windscreen seems almost at eye level and my hair (whats left of it; I have most of it actually) is touching the head liner. Anyway, might be giving Pedders a shot, I live in the inner West of Melbourne and work just to the North of the CBD; so if anyone can recommend a Pedders, or any other place that CAN fix this damn steering problem, please let me know.
