  1. To me it sound that more likely than not you have problem with fuel system, maybe the fuel tank dirty or the mixture lean out because of the broken sensor You can also try to manipulate the broken green cap sensor with 100 Ohm(?) Thermistor from Jaycar, get the highest resistance value you can get from their catalogue,if not wrong cost less than a dollar. Cut the legs to suit and put the head near the sensor housing so it will functioning like the original sensor except it may have lower start up revs instead 1500-2000 rpm it will be around 1000 rpm and will normalise once the engine warm up. And make sure that you insulated the legs either making a sleeve out cable insulator or squeeze a bit of silastic. Good luck
  2. hi Mick, thanks for your comment greatly appreciate it..sorry for the delay. So you reckon the ECU will re-learn with the slight aggressive cam setting? And what do you think about the balance shaft,if I removed it will it affecting the engine life??? cheers,Jeff
  3. G'day everyone, can someone share their opinion or experience please. I try to put a 5sfe engine of 96 Camry into 90 Celica ST184,but I noticed apart some difference in mounting holes. There are also different in camshaft and injectors set ups,the cam lobe from the Celica is smaller and has sharper angle and the Celica's injector has yellow color code while the Camry has green color. I just wondering whether the engine will start right up or maybe it will have issue with drive-ability later on? Thanks guys
  4. Hi everyone, can some one please help me to solve my puzzle and share their experience ??? I have a 93 Celica ST184 which make some kind of vibrating grunting noise. First at start up it vibrates up through the steering wheel, which become less as the engine warms up but there is still some fine vibration as the engine idles at 800 rpms,it makes feel the cabin drones a bit. And the engine also vibrates or grunts when you rev it up=> you know like this old MG's,make some kind of sporty noise. But when I jack up the front end lifting the front wheels then there is almost no noise and the engine just revs nice quietly. Second, the same vibration/noise happen as you engaged the gear or drive on the road especially if the road a bit rough....its make some kind of bouncy noise....brrr...brrrr,you know similar like when the front bearing starts playing up. But when I let the car rolling without engaging the gear everything sound smooth, doesn't matter how bumpy the road is. So the question is what should I replaced?? If someone can share their though or experienced will be much appreciated. cheers
  5. hey striker if not from the rocker cover then it will be from dizzy inner seal
  6. is that possible the noise come from inner cv-joint???........or the clutch damper springs
  7. Ouch......If that Toyota Genuine Parts is OK but if that after market one, than it is really really Rip Off since CV joint Trade price only $87 from Burson
  8. lolz funny you said that,I thought Celica was nick named Hairdresser sports car with one different,if I'm not mistaken Celica was built for sportier people in mind who couldn't afford GT2000 then while Lancer was built for just cheap means of transportation, just compare the price But who cares, main thing your car is still has sex appeal lolz, while Lancer is like sand at the beach unless he thinks his car is an EVO
  9. since you said the problem started after clutch changed and when its cold, the problem is more likely because of thicker oil has been used. on ST184 using Dextron 3 is more than enough,if doesn't help than it is time to change synchro...but if you happy enough to wait until it warm up then don't worry unless it getting really bad. with axle trampling also possible that the engine mount getting sloppy, put urethane or silicon...may increase the engine vibration though or you may like to replace it. or course it possible that the shocker gone since ST184 strut a bit ****ty,but usually the car will be all over the place and feel woolly like French car

If that car got some kind of ECU control unit, that may be will need to be replaced. But first thing if disconnecting overnight doesn't works, you may try to buy CRC Contact Cleaner/Spray from Jaycar or Repco and spray liberally into the switch, relay and control unit if you could find, let it sit 1-2 minutes, tilt it dry or blow with air but no hairdryer. Control unit maybe behind center console and relay usually behind kick panel with the other relays. Have fiddle around lately with the electrical?
