  1. Just thought id add a reply if anyone else has this issue and is straped for cash. I got the unit pulled out and a new belt to run from the alternator to the crank which will give you time to get the compressor fixed and regassed when you have more $$$.
  2. YES!! Stop using it immediately and have some refrigerant oil added at once! This happened to me and it would come and go. After a few days the compressor seized up and it was a very costly repair. Apparently this happens when there is a slow leak and just refrigerant is added. You have to replace the oil that leaks out as well. Thanks for the reply Junebug I'm going to drop it into the shop tomorrow i really hope its just oil and a bearing coz I'm not looking forward to a new AC compressor! Cheers. p.s. anyone else have a similar problem that turned out differently post it.
  3. Hey, I have been getting a rather loud rattling noise coming from where the AC Compressor pulley is located. I thought it might have been a bearing, if it is what kind of work do you think would be involved. I dont really wanna go buy a new ac compressor. Could even be the clutch in there.. I know if its that then prob will have to get a new compressor and get a mechanic to put it in. Anyone had experience with this issue? Cheers
  4. Ok all good now. Seems that when I undid the screws mounting the AFM plug I killed it! Found one at the wreakers for $10 and its all working fine now. Important tho is that when the AFM fails the ECU wont get a signal and the plugs will not get electricity! But yeah easy fix.
  5. Anyone have an Air Flow Meter for sale? I live in Melbourne and need an AFM 22250-74120 (87 - 91 Celica/Camry).
  6. Hey, put the airbox back on, most likely i damaged the cable going to the ECU or the actual sensor, so looks like i'll have to replace that. Thanx everyone for the help. Cheers.
  7. Pulled the ECU fuse and reset ECU, still not starting. I will put the air box back on and try to get it working. Keep you posted.
  8. sorry by O2 sensor i ment air flow meter. I took the air box off from the AFM then attached the pod from there.
  9. It's not your O2 sensor, I can tell you that. It's either AFM/MAF (not sure on your engine) or an intake temp. sensor. Even then, I doubt it's preventing your car from starting (if it was the first two, then your car will start and run pretty roughly/stall). Will the car turn over with the starter motor? Yeah car turns over just fine. Its getting air and the only thing i took out was the air box. Electrics good too.
  10. Hey all, I just installed a pod filter on my 1989 Celica, pulled the air box out, attached the pod filter to the o2 sensor and clamped it. Now it wont start. When i pulled off the airbox i disconnected the o2 sensor plug about a cm then plugged it back in. It looks like its just a pin connecting, maybe soldered. Does anyone have any idea why the air sensor isnt responding now? Help much appreciated! Cheers.
  11. Hey guys this is my first post, I have a 89' celica thats stock atm, and the first thing I want to do is get more air into the engine. Ive been looking at getting a k&n pod and running a pipe to the front of the engine bay where the grill is to get cold air in. Another option would be just to buy a high flow filter and chuck it into the existing box. Is there a better option out of the two? Coz the high flow filter would be no work and cheaper, but im guessing its only slightly better because its still getting warm air? Cheers!
